    • Need more any options around the carnival price and size too

      • +2

        Xpeng x9 is coming…

        • I'm hanging out for this. They better bring it over in actual colours, other than standard white silver and black.

    • Need to wait another year or so to pick up the straggler stock

  • +2

Any luxury for 7 seater longwheel base? Around 70k

    • None in EV space or even Phev … Just hybrids like carnival HEV.

    • +2

BYD sealion 8 is coming and Tesla Model Y 7 seater soon. chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybird next month. So two PHEV and an BEV that will available.

      • First i need to understand what is phev, ev, hev, bev… All that stuff

        • +1

PHEV = plug in electric vehicle, 80 km - 100km electric only range. The rest of the remaining KM are powered by petrol. Has both petrol engine and electric vehicles components.

HEV = Hybird Electric Vehicle, in truth it is actually an tiny electric component with an internal combustion engine where you still putting petrol.

BEV = Battery Electric Vehicle where it is fully electric from the battery.

          EV = Electric Vehicles

          • @ChickenAdobo: Thanks, quite similar and no difference at all between EV vs Bev? Or phev or hev?

            So Phev would be better?

I am looking something powerful pick up for 7 seater long wheelbase.

            • @Zeee: In your case PHEV might be better within your budget otherwise await for news for fhe new Tesla model Y with 7 seats.

              • @ChickenAdobo: I don’t think a Model Y is big enough to be a 7 seater. It’s going to be very cramped in the rear row.

                • @Lichen6420: It might be cramp but there were rumours of a long wheel base with 7 seater.

          • @ChickenAdobo: Now explain the Nissan E-power.

PHEV- Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle, some are EVs with a small motor that mainly acts as a portabke generator to charge the battery eg BYD Shark 6 and have sort of decent EV range. Some are a small battery jamed in a traditional car to hype as an EV. Can be plugged in and charge the EV, most people don't bother and lug a battery around, outside of very specific needs , avoid IMO.

EV - Electric Vehicle (usually means pure EV or PHEV)
HEV - Hybrid Electric Vehicle, tiny battery, small EV motor tacked on as an after thought, only charges of the motor, extra complexity and no benefit. Ignore complelty eg RAV 4 etal

BEV- Battery electric vehicle, all newer ones are designed from the ground up as electric vehicles, plug in to charge (at home for example) If you have a power point and can charge at home, get one of these cars. Especially if you have solar . If you intend to get a new one, and have access through work to a novated lease, do it that way.

It gets a little more nuanced if you can't charge at home but folks make it work, some have free charging at work for example. i charge at home, 80% of my driving is trips kess then 60km, 10% are 60-200km

Long trips necessitate charging at fast chargers, if you do shit loads of long distance driving get a Tesla and use their charging network (if you can stomach Musk, i can't, so I have zero interest in getting one)

Lots of choice in the BEV space and more coming every year.

      • Oh cool, I'd be keen to compare the BYD Sealion 8 with the original Model Y for boot and sub boot space… 🤔

"BYD engineers squeeze in a respectable 675-litre boot that expands to 960L with the third row stowed and up to 1960L with both rows folded."

Oh it's a plug in hybrid. Never mind. 😁

  • Just wondering if anybody managed to negotiate on rwd version with convience package?

    • -1

I just got one, novated lease company said they think they could negotiate a better deal, only ended up giving me another 300.

I got the RWD plus convenience for about 60k drive away.

With this new 3.5k for AWD I think it will still be closer to 68k. As you will find out when then add in a 2.6k delivery fee add to the drive away price. Still don't think it is worth it over RWD.

      • Thanks, and congrats on your purchase, mate! I agree that AWD is still overpriced. If they want to win customers and establish a strong base, they’d be better off offering a killer deal on the RWD model.

It might be the most affordable way to get to 100km in under 4 seconds!

The novelty wears off quickly when the experience is unengaging, numb, dull, quiet and soulless. FFS.

    • +1

If you're older than 20 it sounds like you need to use a sound track of drag racing when you flatten the pedal.
If you're under 20 perhaps you should buy a go cart…. even electric.

    • This is true… But what you will find is 99% of humans default to near flat off the line.

So when you get back into a car that does 0-100 in 5 seconds…will feel sluggish.

Jetski's, R1 motorcycles, F1 cars, fighter jets…brains adapt. Feels super quick the first time. After a year it's comfortable.

Going flat would have a nice large current draw and cause significant pain on the battery cells.

    • So like most new cars these days.

  • +4

This car (top spec) is sold at 25% cheaper than the base Model 3 back in China. I just don't get how they manage to price it so expensive here

    • -1

It has to be a middle man getting their cut.

    • +1

There would have almost certainly been bespoke modifications to sell into Australian markets. And shipping cars here is not easy or cheap, even when you do it in bulk. So you would absolutely expect it to cost a substantial amount more.

That said, there's a severe price war in China's domestic car market, but in Australia they can undercut the traditional players and still make a solid profit margin. So it's not really about what it costs, but what rather what buyers might be willing to pay.

    • -1

They think Aussie people are rich and they can rip us off

    • -1

EV in China is heavily subsidised by the government. Here in Australia the government doesn't give a sh*t about EVs

  • True that MS Paint, plus the dodgy roads, bumps, holes, etc. Not many places to go fast smoothy. If there is, they are regulated.

    • It can’t be that bad. Haha. But this Zeekr is a tiny car which is what makes the price so insane.

    • Straight up lie lmao

  • -1

NGL, this is such a tiny car. :)

  • -6

Wtf is a Zeekr? Warranties are going to be redundant soon aren't they with all these mystery grab. random lettered named cars?

  • Seems Expensive compared to the GWM PHEV ( and that also includes a petrol engine in the price bracket).

Take $20k off this and try again

    Just bought a BMW X1 for 65k.

    • Any idea on what the i4 eDrive 40 is going for these days? or should be aiming for, if one was to go to the dealer…

      • Aim for a minimum of 10% off the RRP plus ask for inclusions like 5 years of free servicing.

        • Some of the larger companies have a "corporate deal" where you get free servicing if you work at large employer.

    • you mean the base spec 1.5T that takes longer to go 0-100 than an electric scooter?

    • I got an iX2 for $70k with trade in…

    • Sorry to hear that

  • +3

Nice car but it needs to be <$50K to be competitive.

  • "It might be the most affordable way to get to 100km in under 4 seconds!"

for what? to see each other on the next red lights LOL!

what sad and crazy society we live in, all that running and shuffling and max you'll get to your destination is 3 to 5 minutes sooner, if even that much and you'll put yourself and others in danger 50 times for that. seeing it all day, everyday and people never learn…

    • +3

It’s not that deep. Some people enjoy the thrill of speed rather than plodding around like a drone.

      • Cops sure do, particularly when the hooning laws kick in.

    • +1

as surprising as it may be, some people enjoy driving and not everybody treats their car like an appliance

    • +4

For me it’s never the under 4 second 0-100 hatches putting people in danger.

Mostly it’s methed up / agro Ranger drivers flying through morning traffic on the M4 in their 2.3 tonne horse and cart that is the real problem.

      • +2

Can you imagine the mayhem if the Ranger did 0-100 in under 4 sec.

  • Zeekr isn’t some fly by night manufacturer. It’s a brand of Geely, one of the biggest car companies in the world.

For those who are equating Chinese driving characteristics, it’s far from that. I’ve driven one and it’s got a lot of Euro influence in the chassis (which it shares with the Volvo EX30).

This is a pretty good review video that goes on a back road blast - https://youtu.be/PMxuhyM7bZc?si=OpAVSKZET5cIH7Pv . The thing hammers, not perfect, but not some bouncy sofa like the EX5, Leapmotor C10.

    • How does it compare to BYD Atto 2 at $35k DA?

      • It doesn’t. A BYD Atto 2 is designed to be an A to B soulless car. Not a bad thing as people buying them are buying them for that purpose.

The interior on this is genuinely very nice and luxurious. It’s actually very fun to drive (even in RWD form). It’s very quiet.

It has the best small SUV safety score - https://www.ancap.com.au/safety-ratings/zeekr/x/0c726f

While styling is subjective, I personally think it looks pretty cool and certainly doesn’t look like any of the other AI designed Chinese SUVs.

        • A BYD Atto 2 is designed to be an A to B soulless car

You are talking about the Kia Picanto

          • @freeb1e4me: No, they are actually fun cars.

BYD Atto 2 is the definition of a soulless A to B SUV.

            • +1

              @bargaineer:

No, they are actually fun cars.

              I was listening until now

              • @freeb1e4me: Go and have look at the reviews. Almost everyone of them mentions it’s fun to drive.

I’ve driven one as rental car. It was genuinely fun to drive.

                • +2

                  @bargaineer:

Almost everyone of them mentions it’s fun to drive.

Drive it up a hill and see how fun it will be

                • +1

@bargaineer: A picanto is not a fun car to drive. Engine gutless. You are better off a used mg4 for abit more and you get the definition of fun to drive. Instant torque and rear wheel drive.

                  • @ChickenAdobo: Agreed on the MG4, it was designed by someone who cared about making the car fun to drive

The Picanto was designed for the European market and has that same DNA. It’s not fast, it doesn’t have instant torque, but being very light and having someone who cares about driving run their pen over the dynamics has made it fun.

I don’t agree with slow being not fun. Maybe you guys are Jeremy and Richard and I am James May?

                    • @bargaineer: I should add, I’m not saying all small tiny cars with no power are fun.

I drove a Hyundai Venue and it was truely the most terrible car I’ve ever driven. Not a single endearing quality.

      • It’s like comparing McDonalds Cheese burger to a wagyu burger

        • What burger is a Kia Picanto? I’m guessing it’s not gong to be fun to eat

          • @freeb1e4me: One with fake meat and poor quality bread with just tomato sauce and no cheese.

  • Rep can we get an eofy deal on the 009?

  • +1

I bought an AWD 5 weeks ago after test driving Tesla 3, Y and BYD Atto.

My previous cars were 2003 WRX, 2010 Golf GTI, 2019 BMW X1 with Sports pack.

The Zeekr’s suspension is nowhere as good as my previous rides, but it is the best car I have ever had. I got the AWD for the HUD primarily, not for the insane acceleration.

    Very luxurious and great tech.

For those saying it is small, it’s smaller than a Tesla Y, but I am 6 foot and fit readily in front and back.

The boot is very small though.

A BMW X1 electric would have cost me another $25k on top and would have been a far worse car.

    • +1

iX1 is converted from ICE platform, still has the transmission tunnel in the backseat and less tech/equipment. if you want a good drive you're better off getting the Mini which is much more fun for less money from the same factory. BMW's EVs are for badge chasers

    • I can from a 2019 Polo GTI and so far have been impressed enough. I needed something a little bit bigger than the polo but not huge.

We have a Ford Everest as the main family car (4 kids), but my small car gets 80% of the driving - school, work, errands.

    • -3

Claiming the BMW is worse sounds like you're just trying to justify your own purchase. That kind of comment is typical of the Chinese EV buyer demographic — mainly focused on tech and not much else.

      • yeah how silly of them to focus on tech, value, equipment, battery safety and price instead focusing on the badge and how rich they think it makes them look right?

  • -6

More unsustainable EV's and higher electricity prices rort me harder daddy!

  • +4

This will be a great car, in two years, at $30,000

  • -7

definitely trust the CCP won't just remotely disable these vehicles or worse, if there is any future big conflict with Australia.. wouldn't they love it if we all bought their smart vehicles. just a possibility to take into account

  • -1

Bloody Elon and his views creating a Zeekr EV demand issue.

  • +1

Better deal really is the base model for $50k. But the AWD is a fun drive and gets all the things included. Yes you can get cars cheaper but the Zeekr interior is very nice compared to other cars at this price. AWD good car for people who don’t need the space for a couple etc. I think it’s a good size for driving round town, slightly bigger than a regular hatch.

    • agreed..even the base is as fast as your standard ICE hot hatch (i30N, GTI etc) courtesy of the EV drive train

  • -3

It is no so cheap cause it still is a Euro Volvo car.

  • -3

They will reduce price massively very soon like what they did in China

    • -1

      Fingers crossed.

    • -1

You have no idea about the markets. The Sealion 7 waiting time is 2 months plus, the xpeng g6 is 3 months plus. The shark 6 not sure but the demand is really high. Sealion 6 has some stock but will be out soon because of the cash back deal. I know it because I just bought one this week. Sure the price will be dropped in next year as usual, but lots of good Chinese EV cars coming in next 8 months, the demand will be much higher because people will swap from ICE car.

  • Last week in China, my girlfriend traded in her Audi A3L (2024 model), which she had driven for just one and a half years, for a Zeekr 007 GT. To qualify for the Chinese government’s electric vehicle subsidies, there’s a key requirement: you must trade in an old car when purchasing a new electric vehicle. Simply buying an EV without trading in a used car doesn’t qualify for the subsidy. She absolutely loves the Zeekr—the driving experience is exceptional, the car is incredibly smart, and its acceleration is amazing. Compared to the Audi A3L, it’s in a completely different league.

  • These have not been reviewing all that well, not surprised they have been discounted so heavily after launch
