  • Ahhh just switched to Arcline/RACV yesterday with the RACV member discount/credit. Oh well.

  • they have solar feed in plan?

  • Switched and bill started 05/05/25 . Should jump today ?

    • +2

It's been 50 days so yeah, you should be good.

  • Can we sign up for future date , say 21st july ? Will that work ?

  • I used one of the last econnex deals and switched out within a week like last month as I was getting credit in a bundled plan through my bank account….

So can I use this again or will there be waiting period of 6 months or so before I am eligible for the GC

    • +1

No waiting period in that sense. You do have to stay connected to the company (s) of choice for at least 45 days to be eligible for the gift cards. But after you've done your time you can jump to another Econnex promo.

  • I noticed it combines different providers for Gas and Electricity.

Does that mean you have two sets of providers you need to deal with? Or is everything bundled with Ecconex and you log into their portal to do everything etc?

    • Once you've signed up you'll have nothing to do with Econnex. It'll be separate accounts with each provider.

    • You deal with each retailer yourself after switching.

Econnex is just a 3rd party service being paid for referring you to retailers - like other cashback sites.
After that, there is no contact until they send you your cut of the referral as a MC about 120d later.

      • You have to stay with the new retailers for 4 months or can switch out earlier before getting the MC?

        • +1

No, you need to stay 45 days. But you don't receive your Mastercard for 90-120 days after switching

          • @367: Then repeat Econnex deal again? Is that allowed? Also, How you know Manyo is a rep for Econnex?

            • +2

@freeb1e4me: Manyo posts Econnex Deals as their Rep.
Has often followed up issues in Econnex Deal comments.

  • +1

Just check you can actually get supply from what Ecconex suggest. I've had it happen multiple times now where I couldn't be supplied in my area by there suggestions. They let you know it can't go through and pick another one.

No issues with getting the giftcards previously though, so still worth it!

  • Never get the money off you guys. Still awaiting no response. Now he will ask for reference and then thats it, but would never get the cashback

    • +3

PM the Rep Manyo, with Reference# from the confirmation email you received after switching.

      Always got a response.

Received all MC & other incentives to switch for years of Econnex Deals.
Switched 3 times in last 6 months. Already received 2 x $200 MC.

      • Need to find Manyo
I believe I sent him the ref number

        • Search MESSAGES in your OzB account.
          Send a reminder😉

      • Most dont even remember

      • Similar to all cashback sites. Sometimes need to follow up. Always received mine.

So you don't forget, set a reminder in Deal to check for MC in 120d.

Need to provide Reference# from Econnex email sent after switch. Otherwise they can't search their records & respond.

Need to provide Reference# from Econnex email sent after switch. Otherwise they can't search their records & respond

@Zeee has and no reply. Also, no reply from rep

Better off churning from retailers that offer cashback directly or via referral

          • @freeb1e4me: Not in my long experience!
Got all the benefits when I switched many times a year, for years of Econnex Deals. Plus retailer bill credit promotions (up to $200) though those offers.

Effectively haven't paid for electricity in 5 years💰 Made profit with Cost of Living Rebates!

Worth far more that what you suggest.

          • -1

            @freeb1e4me:

Better off churning from retailers that offer cashback directly or via referral

            Which retailers offer cashback directly??

All I've seen are as bill credit.
It's very different to having MC to spend!!

Bill credits are forfeited if leave before the credit is used up paying their bill.
Some are spaced over a year to keep you paying.
Bill credit is worth less if rates are high.
And of less value if they raise their rates!!

Generally seems more attractive than it really is. A MC is far better💰

There have been complaints that referral bill credits were not paid out in a Deal!
Companies offer referral bill credits if others sign up with your referral… Making you their salesperson!

Cashback via Cashrewards or Shopback is still via Econnex.

          • -1

@freeb1e4me: Need to provide Reference# in PM to Rep to be investigated.

Zeee has and no reply. Also, no reply from rep

            Not quite.
"I believe I sent him the ref number"??

I recommended to Zeee - a search of PM sent to Manyo to be sure.
            And a follow up PM.

Thats not so hard to do for a large MC!!
Better than complaining here to get nothing!

          • -1

@freeb1e4me: Seems you think you know more than you do about saving money on energy!! You don't!

Or are you just trying to mislead people😖

You can't even back up your claim of
            retailers offering cashback directly😜

(Not just the usual phoney money bill credit used to pay their high bills.
Or cashback via CR & SB operated through the same Econnex!)
Would be interested in seeing it!

But you claim that is better than this actual MasterCard offer to spend as you please.
Plus additional bill credits up to $200 from retailers for switching for 45d???

These Econnex incentives have always worked for me for years👍 Saved me $thousands!

            Wouldn't trust your financial advice😜

            • -1

@INFIDEL: You should be the new rep for Econnex… holy moly!

              • @freeb1e4me: No thanks😜

You are spreading misleading information you won't even back up. That pisses me off!

Seen you do this in other types of Deals.

I've got no affiliation with Econnex.
Been using Econnex Deals for years.
                And other discounted energy Deals.

Never any problems you say others have.
If I did, I know to PM Rep, ASAP!
Failing to do that is where most problems & frustrations arise.

It's been great effectively paying nothing for electricity for years🎉
(All electric aircon home, no solar)

So am very happy with Econnex, as it shows😊

  • Incredible. I did this only yesterday for $250 instead of $275.

  • how many days we need to wait after moving out. I moved out to powershop 2 months back, if i join again, am i eligible?

    • +1

      Yes.
Was 30 or 45d to remain with retailer to qualify for MC through Econnex. So 2 months is fine.
(But no new customer credit if you sign up again with PowerShop😉)

Switched 3 times in last 6 months. Already received 2 x $200 MC.
Been with PowerShop 7 times over years

  • Any good provider offers to combine this with?

    • +4

Powershop has been offering $200 on electricity. Check offers in Econnex signup.

      • Checked PowerShop in this Deal (in SEQld)
"A one off $200(incl. GST) sign up credit will be applied to the usage and supply charges on your first electricity bill."

        • QLD only deal?

          • @freeb1e4me: There for me in NSW

          • @freeb1e4me: Each region has different retailers & offers. Need to check Deal after entering postcode to see.
            Confirmed offer for my region.

  • No time of use rates for mid north coast of NSW @nocure?

    • Each area has different retailer offers.
I try to avoid TOU for my low consumption use mainly in peak hours.

      • Agree. If your meter config is TOU, you don't really have a choice unless it's offset by solar. My area only offers single rate which is not the only meter config/ tariff type :)

        • +1

My smart meter is set up for TOU with no solar.

Most retailers offer TOU rates, so there is no option but to be billed that way.

But signing up to a retailer with ONLY single rate - there is no TOU with demand rate. I watch my consumption during peak rate times - something I prefer not to do.

PowerShop has been single rate in SEQld when used it this year.

But that's the opposite of your problem…

  • How to proceed if Electricity account is under my name and Gas and Internet under my wife's name?

    • +1

Sign up twice for this Deal - under each name for type of service.
Can't switch (& receive MC) if a different name is on bill.

      • So if the bill is currently in Bob's name, you can't switch it to being in Jane's name with a new connection?

        • In this Deal, it's NOT a new connection, but switching to a new retailer!
New connection (done for new owner) entails disconnecting service & reconnecting (losing electricity in between) - with fees for both💰

Retailers can't accept switch if you don't have authority to change the current account. Usually that's done by the person named on the bill. That is to protect current account holder.

The current account holder can give authority for another person to be added to the account to make changes (no name change to account), added as a joint account holder (both names on account), or possibly change account to another person - especially if related etc.

With Origin account in my Father's name, he added my name to be authorised to make changes.
As he was in hospital, was done over phone with him giving verbal consent.
I then moved him to a cheaper retailer of electricity. But he was still listed as the sole account holder (on bill).

    • +2

You can ask the retailer to change names if that will make it easier in the future

  • Will there be any interruption to gas n electricity with these switching?

    • +2

Its just a change of retailer & meter read - no interruption.

  • -5

Note the sign up charges that the retailers may charge

    • +5

Those don't apply when switching retailer!! As in this Deal.

Some mistake charges for connection & disconnection of ELECTRICITY SUPPLY as applying in a simple change of retailer billing! They don't!

  • It asks if you are moving house. I actually am so there technically isnt a switch as there is no service there. Reckon I'll receive the giftcards?

    • Safest to PM the Rep Manyo & ask.

  • The rates are high to cover the credits.

    • +2

Rates are set by the Retailers, not Econnex.
Like all cashback sites, they get a referral payment from retailers. Which funds the MC.

      Choose which best suits you.
Look for additional new sign up credit with retailers ($200 with PowerShop electricity).

Good for those who regularly switch for the benefits💰

Have been switching electricity about every 2 months for years with Econnex.
Effectively haven't paid for electricity for years😊 (All electric aircon home, no solar)

      • -1

        Username checks out.

      • Powershop rates are high for 2290 NSW and solar low. Wonder how electricity works out at only $10 a month more than EVO for instance?

        • +1

Higher rates for 45d doesn't matter much if you switch regularly & pocket the MC 😉
Thats where the real Deal is! What I do.

Calculate on your electricity usage, not the annual cost shown in the comparison. Cost of your usage might be very different.

By the way it's OVO Energy not the hair care brand EVO😉

          • @INFIDEL: True. We are retired and wife a cold fish therefore ducted air on from 9 am until 10 pm many days with a break from 11 to 5 if I get my way. That said, we have solar and so on sunny days near Newcastle NSW the cost is offset.

            • @chrisharry53: Switching with solar is a more complex calculation.

Plus taking into account the different Time Of Use rates & times…
A retired person may be home using electricity at different times to working person.

With high usage, a lower kwh rate is more important cost factor than daily supply charge.

Living in a warmer climate, my aircon use is limited to a few hours a day, 2 months a year. No heating.

So have low energy usage. The incentives to regularly switch, Govt rebate, etc - has meant effectively free electricity for years😊

              Everyone's case is different.

              • @INFIDEL: True and just signed up to Powershop. $525 credits in total too hard to pass up but I am sure I will be switching pretty soon after 45 days to get a better feed in rate and more credits of course. Cheers

                • +1

                  @chrisharry53: Best of luck.
(I like PowerShop for their friendly & helpful customer service.)

Note Bill Credits expire when you switch!

Don't forget to watch out for the MC email in around 120d. Set a reminder.
You have only 1 month to activate, then 1 year to use.

Put the MC towards something you both will enjoy😊

                  • @INFIDEL: @INFIDEL did you get a 12month price guarantee with OVO?
Lumo is 2c more but the pricing says its fixed until Sept 2026, so i'm contemplating which one to go with.

                    • +1

@Jit0809: Fixed pricing or fixed guarantee re discount? I haven’t seen fixed pricing for eons.

                    • @Jit0809: Haven't been with OVO for over a year. Had a billing dispute so left. Terrible customer service.

Offers are based on your location. Lumo isn't available for me.

Haven't had 12 month fixed price for 3 years since Nectr energy. My fixed price ran out just as electricity prices spiked.

Anyway, I switch every few months for the incentives (MC & Bill Credits).

  • Those that are switching - are they showing you revised tariffs from July 1st or are you going in blind? I am currently with Red Energy and have recently received the new rates from July 1st. I'm finding it impossible to compare these online with competitors though as they are all dispalying current rates only. Any advice?

    • +2

Of course retailers would like people to switch now… & not leave.

These Deals come up very regularly. (Especially now!)
Can wait for Deal next month at new rates.

      Or Switch again after 45d!
Signed up on 15/6 to do that. Only 1 month at new rate before switch.

    • i assume rates are going up with every provider 1st july?

i'm with AGL and got told the new rates so if was going via econnex to powershop or whoever i choose in the end, it'll be rates as of today but expect new rates 1st of july so I would call just in case to confirm

    • I called Powershop. They advised rates I get today won’t necessarily go up. If they raise prices may not be uniform and may not affect all customers. For the total credit for electricity and gas I am willing to see what I will do after the 45 days - switch again or stay.

  • Never switched retailers before. How do the connection/disconnection fee work? Do they apply when switching?

    • +3

No - you are NOT disconnecting & connecting ELECTRICITY SUPPLY - those fees apply to!
      Just changing who bills you!

  • Signed up to engie for electricity (via shop back). I think I've exhausted all the retailer's flgiving credit

Plan came with price changes in July. Needless to say I'll shop around in July and forgo the wait for cashback if it's not a competitive rate

    • +1

My Engie prices are changing in July and new prices are terrible so I am moving with this deal. That said I haven't checked if everyone's prices are getting similarly worse.

All the more reason to churn for sign up bonuses.

      • Are retailers already advertising the July price rises?

        • I got an email from them about mine.

  • No more double discount (electricity provider credit and Econnex bonus pre-paid gift card). PowerShop is not showing as electricity provider. And, none of the electricity provider is giving credit except momentum energy $50 credit.

    • NO!
Depends on retailers participating in your area!

e.g. In SEQld, Econnex shows PowerShop with
"A one off $200(incl. GST) sign up credit will be applied to the usage and supply charges on your first electricity bill."

  • +1

Can I set 15 July as NBN transfer date but sign up today to get the MC?

    • Yes, I did that earlier in the year and got my gift card. I think the fine print says that connection date needs to be within 30 days of sign up.

  • hi can you get $100 cashback (via shopback) as well as $175 (via Econnex) if u signed up for electricity only?

    • To get the $100 shopback you have to use their link. Econnex giftcards is a different link

    • No. Both are through Econnex!

      • -1

thanks so i will get both $100 and $175 right? if i clicked through shopback link and then econnex link and then choose the appropriate provider

        • +2

No When you click the econnex link you wil void the shopback cashback as you have clicked away from the shopback link

        • Or you might end up with neither

  • I mistakenly used a different email address on Econnex than one used on the electricity account. Is that going to be fine?

  • Another noob question - when using the comparison, is the 1st result definitely the best in terms of rates (comparing by % lower the ref price) or is a more detailed analysis required looking at each providers rates, solar feed in tariff etc to determine the best for your needs

    • Best offer depends on your usage, solar FIT, etc.
Handy if you know it - from past bills.

Reference price is a way of comparing same usage across retailers. It's based on a usage that may not be like yours. Handy if similar.
Find it useless as low electricity user.

High daily supply charge & lower kwH charge is good for high kwh users. Small users benefit from lower daily supply charge & higher kwH charge.

  • Gas connection usually takes longer than electricity, does anyone know if econnex send one gift card for both or separate ? Bcz 45 days for gas connection will be different than 45 days for electricity

  • Trying to sign up to Superloop NBN but its asking me to pay an additional $300 for "New Development Fee (If Applicable)". It is not applicable…. Any advice?

    • Having the same issue - did you find a solution to this?

  • I never got the vouchers from the last deal, have searched spam etc nothing

    • +1

If it's the most recent deal to this one, they aren't due yet. It takes between 90 and 120 days after connection date.

      • Been 120+d wait for MC this year for electricity.

        • Yeah the last one I got was a few days late.. Apparently something to do with Karta Rewards.
