COTD Technothon - Nexus 7 32GB $279.95 + $7.95 Shipping ($12 Shipping Cap)

26

I know some people here do not like COTD, but this deal is back again and truth said $279.95 is not a bad price for this unit. If you get some other stuff and utilise the capped shipping it becomes even better value.

"not a bad price" is usually not a bargain.

  • +4

Sorry, this is the normal going price you can walk into any JBhifi or Goodguys and ask for this price without even trying they will fix you up ASAP and that will save you 7.95 shipping

Kogan sell it for $269.00 + shipping

    • +1

lol then why did you give a +ve vote?

      • +11

        :) I'm a clickaholic.. +1 .. everywhere!!

JB HiFi lists this at $298 on their website at the moment
      http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/tablet/asus/nexus-7-7-inc…

and the last few "bargains" have been

      $282 via eglobal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91167
      $294 via domain http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91139

This price is better than those, so I thought I would share.

      • +1

wouldnt the eglobal be a better deal than this ? both a grey imports ? COTD total cost: 287.9
eglobal would save you $5.9 ? and officework is doing it for $294 so for additional $6 you get local aussie stock, support local business, charger, etc. not a deal in my opinion.

    • And you get a charger ;-)

      • +1

I would hope the one from Domain or JB HiFi would have AC adaptor!

  • +16

I will not purchase their 'cheap' merchandise

I'll find it elsewhere at half the price

I will not pay their flat shipping fee

    I do not like C.O.T.D

      Where's my pitchfork and torch?

I think over the past few years the catch~athons have hurt them more then they have helped. and the only people to have scored anything were using a mobile phone app to buy the stuff quick as all the credit card info was saved in the app! :) Some phone app users got up to 10 items for a few dollars. Total value was over $1000

        • Catchathons and those hourly (half hourly) deals have been a joke, but sometimes you do get things during their normal 24hr deals.

I do not like green eggs and ham…

      • +1

But it is better than green ham and eggs…….!!

      • "I do not like green eggs and ham…"

Or in this case, "Rotten Eggs and Spam".

    • +2

Try it and you may I say!

    • +1

What's your position on green eggs and ham?

    • Is it just me … or does the above post make darthhasbro sound like a Dr Seuss "Green Eggs and Ham" fan?

      Doh … beaten

      • Yeah, I read it to the kids the other night and the rhyming has been in my head ever since

    • -2

Please share the bargain if you do find it for half the above price.

  • "some people" ?? … ermm.. try "most"! :)

  • +1

"Please note: AC Adaptor not included. Charges via included micro USB cable"

    • Good pick up…I didnt notice that

  • +1

And ill say it again ….it must be an import because …and i quote from COTD website (AC Adaptor not included (charges via included USB cable)
Seriously trying to charge this on you computer will take forever…..so youll have to go buy a charger or if youve got one there only Micro USB… but still thats BS
edit: beat me by 2mins while i was typin ;-)

  • +1

    Gray import. COTD FAIL.

  • that's not really a bargain, elsewhere has it for $300 and you can take it back to the store because of some faults which could happen to the device

  • I am still deciding on whether to get the google nexus 7 for uni or the ipad 4. Can you fellow ozbargainer's please give me your opinions? Does this google nexus support 3G ?

    Thanks

    • Wouldn't an iPad for be closer to a Nexus 10 or a Galaxy tab?

      • What would be better for uni work? I will be opening documents/pdf lectures

        • depends on what you value more…screen real estate or portability. I am currently using a 7" Toshiba AT1S0 which I picked over the 10" models at the time because it was a lot more portable.

        • +1

I guess my point was more than you seem to have looked at one style from one brand or a completely different style from another brand.

for the 7" size you could look at the Nexus 7 or the iPad Mini

for the 10" size, Nexus 10 (probably out of stock forever), Galaxy tab or iPad

I personally think 7" tabs are a little too small to be useful for trying to read off or look at on a consistent basis. You might be better looking at a transformer tablet or one of the ones that comes with a keyboard that basically turns it into a laptop so that you have more options on how you can use it.

        • thanks for your opinions guys :)

        • 7" tabs more portable tho and use less power

    • +1

Does this google nexus support 3G ?

only if you buy the 3g once, which this isnt…

      • oh ok. thanks

    • +1

This one doesn't but there is a version that does

      http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/tablet/asus/google-nexus-…

someone may be able to find you a bargain on this model

    • My brother uses an iPad for his Uni work, he finds it easier to use since all his Med Books are available on that platform.

For school, I'd go for the iPad as well, but for anything else, grab an android tablet IMO

    • I have both, My Nexus 7 that I ran around Seattle trying to find around launch! and an Ipad 2 that one of my suppliers gave me.

Portability wise the Nexus is grand, feels better one handed and is still big enough for comics, documents etc, battery life is pretty solid, depending on background apps.

I find the ipad 2 gets used more sitting on the couch, or seated rather than a true portable on the run device.

Not going to get into the pros and cons of the operating systems etc, OZB has seen that debate before.

Both have compatible office apps so, ppt lectures and stuff will work on either.

My preference is the Nexus for the portability it offers, plus my phone is google so everything syncs well, I work on the road so being able to have in my hand while walking around or having a meeting standing up etc is my consideration.

IMO go to a bricks and mortar shop that stocks both and have a play, see which one you like.

    • I am still deciding on whether to get the hyandai getz for uni or the bmw m3. Can you fellow ozbargainer's please give me your opinions? Does the getz have a window ?

    • Definitely iPad 4. However for uni work a windows 8 tablet would be best but obviously a lot more money…

  • No deal here, same price can be had locally - with a charger…

  • i got my 32gb for $254.60 from officeworks cause wireless1 store in westfields parramatta had em for $268 and they beat it by 5%
