  • In 1st for XM6 should be this price.

    • Don't know about that but agree that I'm not interested in them until they can be had for under $500.
Sold the XM5 to get Momentum 4 plus profit, which are doing the trick (and sound great, ANC not as good but not flying often).

Still got some unused JB voucher so no rush. Most phone deals are 'hacks' these days so very little to pay upfront / instore.

      • +1

I'm on the same journey, XM5 to M4. The M4 sound great but the ANC isn't up to Sony, even XM3.

        • Yeah mate, I think I'll keep using these then give the XM6 a go in about a year or so when they are a reasonable price.
Hopefully with some EQ they would sound almost as good (but i know they won't be and prob still a bit muddy).
For outright SQ I still think the M4 are fantastic, all the other niceties the XM6 meant to be great.

Sony's flimsy plastic hinge will break, you will get 1-3 years depending on your usage. I personally would like my headphones to last at least 5 years.

      • They have apparently addressed this 'issue' with the XM6.
In general though, if you look after your things they will last you
ie. don't be rough, put them in the case they come with (not loose in your bag), don't sit on them :P.

        • Did all that and mine still broke - it's a manufacturing issue

      • If you had them in and out of a bag, agree the life could be shortened. Mine live at the office, minimal transport and packing.

      • +1

My hinge hasn't broken, however there is an annoying slight static in one of my ear cups. Will make me think twice about buying again.

  • One of my requirements is that I do take number of calls during the day on Teams/Zoom. Tried the Sony XM 6 / Bose Ultra / Apple pro max at JB yesterday. Made phone calls through each. XM6 beat the other two hands down. So I shall patiently wait while the XM 6 drops below 500. Also by then there should be fabric ear cushions in the market to replace the leather ones on XM 6 - hit sweaty in the 15 min that I was playing around with it. Apple pro max were sensational in that department

    • Will reduce the seal and could affect ANC but won't know until you try.

  • I wish the MX6s would drop to $350 just like that time JB had them for $350

    • that was epic. I think $450-500 would be fair after a year or two.

      • That was massive, you could not ever go past that deal

        • I already got a pair in oct 2022 from TGG ($405) but luckily 28D shopper's protection came to the party.

          • @G-rig: 405 wasnt too bad for 2022 on the MX5 , i just saw the $350 and jumpped

            • @HappyJoyJoy: Yeah bloody steal, good work!
Funny thing is it's pretty hard to get them for around that until now.

              • +1

@G-rig: yeah been watching the Prices and i have not seen it past $400 (sometimes)
the $350 ones i got at JB broke and they needed to get replaced, and when collecting it from JB , they were surprised

  • Now $369 and a new PayTo code for extra 5% off on top.
