Can someone just tell final price without doing + - math?

  • it looks like the Motorola Razr is better

  • +1

No more S pen support is a deal breaker. I will stick to the z fold 6

  • 1tb 16gb ram version available on the samsung website

    • It available on the hardly normal website too.

    Summary of mkbhd's video.

This video provides a first look at the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, highlighting their significant hardware upgrades compared to the previous generation.
    Galaxy Z Fold 7:
    * Thinner and Lighter: The Fold 7 is noticeably thinner (8.9mm when closed) and lighter (215 grams), making it more comparable to a standard slab phone when closed. [01:08]
    * Larger Unfolded Screen: It unfolds into an 8-inch tablet. [01:58]
    * Improved Main Camera: It features the S25 Ultra's main 200-megapixel camera, a significant upgrade, though the ultrawide and telephoto lenses are still smaller than flagship size. [02:54]
    * Performance: It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip with 12GB of RAM (16GB for the 1TB version). [03:54]
    * Downgrades:
    * S Pen support has been removed. [05:09]
    * The base price has increased by $100 to $1999. [05:47]
    * The battery remains the same at 4,400 mAh, which is considered a missed opportunity for improvement compared to competitors using silicon carbon batteries. [06:06]

    Galaxy Z Flip 7:
    * Bigger Screens: Both the internal and cover displays are larger. The internal screen is now 6.9 inches, and the cover display is a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge screen that is brighter and has a 120Hz refresh rate. [07:31]
    * Larger Battery: The battery has increased from 4,000 mAh to 4,300 mAh. [07:56]
    * Chipset Change: It now uses an Exynos 2500 chip instead of a Snapdragon chip, which is seen as a potential step back in terms of peak performance and power efficiency. [08:52]
    * Price: The starting price remains the same at $1099. [07:25]
    Other Announcements from Samsung Unpacked:
    * Watch 8: Features a circular design and a new ability to measure toxins in your body through your skin (antioxidant index). [09:45]
    * Flip 7 FE (Fan Edition): Essentially a Flip 6 with an Exynos 2400 chip, priced at $899. [10:05]

  • +2

Flip 7 apparently has Exynos chip as per MKBHD Video..

  • Just had a look at the Samsung Pre-order offers on Education store and even after all the discounts and coupons, JB Hifi deal comes out much cheaper. And if we get $300 gift card also that makes it an even better deal.

    • +3

gift card is only for the flip.

    • Are you counting the cancellation fee as well?

  • +2

Samsung preorder is terrible. This actually looks like a decent deal.

    • Yes and I just received the $200 discount coupon email also from JB Hifi.

      • +2

Samsung epp & main website offers r shocking & no free samsung care this year

        • +2

Yes. Just $100 trade in bonus on EPP store plus the usual EPP store discount. And accessories are so expensive too. Cases over $100 so effectively kills the benefit of $200 registration coupon.

      • "cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon offer" I don't think you can use it for an upfront mobile plan deal

        • Yeah I read that too in the email and will check tomorrow morning if I decide to preorder. But this $99 plan doesn’t have any other “coupon offer” rather has a gift card, so may stack, as last year it did work. Other coupon offer might include Perks $30 off when spending $300 as you normally can apply only one coupon per order.

Even people received the $300 gift card also when the preordered via JB Telstra deal.

But even with this deal Fold 7 will cost $1,764 which compared to last year pre-order offers is much higher. I think I paid around $1,300+ for Fold 6 pre-order.

      • Im sort of surprised. I have a fold 5 and today was 99% confident i would be moving to the 7. Now im probably not going to. Reddit threads all seem to be agreeing. I suspect the fold 7 is going to be a massive flop.

        • +2

Why do you think its gonna be a massive flop? There are 2 major improvements. One is the camera they finally put S25 Ultra main camera to the fold, and Fold 7 is being much thinner and lighter(even lighter than S25 ultra).

          • @yummypinacolada: I like big screen and camera upgrades, but honestly thin phone looks so fragile and removed S-pen support. I didn't go for the pixel fold deal as I was waiting for this phone. Now I am regretting my decision. I guess this phone will be massive flop like Galaxy edge

            • @Nandri: I got the Pixel Fold deal. All good so far, only few things that battery and front camera are worse :(

          • @yummypinacolada: The sales volume on foldables is already extremely low. The price has gone up and its not all positive as they now have the hole punch and the battery remains the same whcih many feel isnt enough.

I reckon a very large portion of buyers only take them up through the heavy initial discounts, and if you look at samsungs own discounts they are very poor.

        • They have missed the mark with the same size battery and not using the new silicon battery tech that all the new release phones are starting to use.

  • +2

So no real pre-order bonus and no trade-in bonus this year through Samsung? wtf

    • +1

Lowest I could get it down to is $1913.49 for the 256GB Fold7, with a Buds3 for $198.83

Essentially a 20% off via EDU, 5% off first purchase, $100 bonus trade in, and the $200 eco voucher. Didn’t factor in the $100 off voucher for $20

      • +4

        Thats correct mate.
JB Hifi Telstra deal brings the $512GB Fold 7 price down to $1,764 (2,800-1,800-200+99+766)

    • +3

I believe there is an additional $400 trade in bonus through the galaxy member app.

  • Hate to say this but Harvey Norman pre order deal for the Flip7 is better via Optus. Unsure if you still get the $300 HN gc offer for preordering via Optus phone deal, need @HardlyNormal to confirm

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 512GB on $69 Device Offer (In store only):
Customers who sign up to a new Optus $69 SIM only plan in store at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne during the offer period may purchase an Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 512GB device with a $1799 discount applied upfront to the cost of the device at point-of-sale. Device must be purchased at the same time the plan is taken out. Limit of 1 per service, up to a max of 5 per customer. Not available to TechFund and Fleet customers. This offer is not available with any other offers, unless specified. Min total cost is $1656 including device and Plan over 24 months. Cancellation fees apply. Customers who cancel this plan within 120 days of activation will need to pay back the base value of the Harvey Norman gift card or the value of the device discount they received. Plus, if you cancel your plan, you’ll also have to pay any remaining payments for your device in full if you have chosen a repayment option, plus all charges incurred up until the date of cancellation. This is subject to your consumer law rights. Optus Fair Go policy applies. Recontracts and rate plan changes are excluded. Offer available in store only until 31st July 2025.

You get $1799 off the device on the HN x Optus vs $1450 off at JB
    Cancelling after 4 months for the HN deal costs $690 + ($69 x 4) =$966 vs JB x Telstra ETC of $766.59 + $99 =$865.59 + ($1799 -$1450) =$1,214.59

    • U have missed out the 300 GC from JB in your calculation

      • All retail stores have the same offer but unsure if you still get it via the Optus deal

Pre-order now to receive a bonus $200 storage upgrade*
Bonus $300 Harvey Norman Gift Card

I’ve omitted this calculation on the HN and instead pinged a rep from HN to confirm - previous preorder for the Fold6 has it on the $99 plan per this comment

    • damn you guys on these deals before me haha
i will confirm once i hear, no word right now, historically its a no but will wait to see

      • Is there a link to this HN / Optus deal for the Flip 7?

    • If we are able to stack telco deal with $300 GC that'd make Z flip insanely cheap. I'm 99% sure they will not stack offers, but there will be some lucky people tomorrow who can stack telco and GC offer.

      • gift card doesn’t stack :(
but is still cheaper, gift card isnt money in your pocket

        • Are you still referring to this JB deal btw?

          • @hanofee: yes, although + gift card = cheaper deal with jb, its not actual savings, just a gc

        • I know beforehand that they won't allow to stack telco deal and GC bonus, but everytime there's a deal like this a handful of people will get lucky on the first day because of some uninformed staff.

    • Do you have any details about the Fold7?

      • +2

Got the 512gb Fold7 with Silicon Case, 65w Trio Charging brick and Wireless charger to $2581.95,
So if we minus the accessories, the phone itself would be around $2300

    • +7

You're paying way too much. Wait until tomorrow and ask customer support for a trade-in discount. That should bring the price down to around 1600.

      • Time to cancel and try again!

    • Samsung sent out $400 bonus trade in codes this morning. I received it it on all my emails. 512GB Fold 7 can be bought for less than $1,800 using all the codes. Check this deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/914780

      • What if we don't have an EDU email address though? That's not valid :(

        • Same price for Gov or any Samsung EPP (CBA Yello, Westpac, etc). But yeah, if u have no access to any of it, then you can't. At the moment Samsung public store pricing is not that great

          • @hanofee: EDIT: I'm a Westpac non-business customer. Seems like there's no discount for regular customers… :(

            • @bargainerpro: I don't think you need to be business customer. On desktop, login to your westpac, go to westpac rewards, then find Samsung. They do timed out rather quick if we browse too long, but it'd "saved" the cart, so just need to re-click from westpac again to continue. Oh if your westpac acc is new, you might have to wait a couple of days for this though (I think a friend told me that)

  • Where u get the $200 jb voucher from?

    • +1

It was a pre registration thing, too late now, just found out about it too

      • Damn

    • I couldn't find on JB website, what is it?

      • +2

        https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

        The major issue now is this;

6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base
Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your
Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
        (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
        (b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
        (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.

        • Is that mean the "ozb way" no longer working?

        • It has always been written like this in past deals as well. But the actual cancellation fee has always been $800. So should be the same this time as well.

      • Mentioned below by googaa

  • +2

Looks voucher repayment clause has changged this time around. Go to jb site scroll below on this and there is a link

  • The deals are port only. Go pickup a cheap sim card elsewhere, activate it and then port it. Just cancel that when you want to pay it off. Dont fluff around with your actual number as it's a waste of time.

  • -1

I tried calling the JB store to confirm the maximum cancellation fee of $800 but looks like they're inundated. Has anyone been able to confirm?

    • +1

I can confirm maximum voucher repayment under the $99 JB Hi-Fi Mobile Upfront Plan is $800.
The link on JB Hi-Fi website takes you to the generic Telstra T&Cs which confused me with their cancellation pro-rata terms.

  • +1

DON'T BUY Samsung galaxy fold or flip. I have learnt the lesson.

My flip 5 can not open flat (only up to 160 degree, not 180 degree), but screen and touch no problem. The phone still under warranty and send back to repair. The service department told me the hinge is not under warrant and quote me $680 to repair it. The hinges is the weakest part for fold or flip phone and they not cover in warranty.

Good luck if you still want Samsung foldable phone!!!

    • +1

Surely that impairs the function of the phone. Anything the ACCC can do?

      • +2

yes. I think that's the only way. Will do that.

    • My Flip 3 is still going strong after almost 4 years of ownership.

Its a pity youve had a poor experience but its not reflective of everyones experience nor is it a reason for people to not buy the phone if they want it.

    • I agree it's fragile. Flip 4 I had to send in for warranty after screen started going black. Flip 5 my screen protector separated within 12 months of owning the phone. That was fine bcos we get a couple free screen protector changes at least. Flip 6 now and my inner screen just stopped working 6 months after purchasing. Giving it in to warranty now… The only reason I'm buying these is because I keep them for 12 months max and thus have warranty. I'd never own a flip or fold phone out of warranty honestly

  • Does this workout to be cheaper for the Fold 7 vs purchasing from Samsung EPP with trade-in bonus?

    • No if you can get all the discount codes and coupons for Samsung EPP store.

      • true, but its a lot of work - Jbhifi is a bit simpler I suppose. I Usually buy them from EDU but may just try JBHIFI this time.

  • what's the cheapest the flip7 adds up to after the $800 termination fee?

    • +1

$714 with $99 1st month fee and $766 cancellation fee.

      • thanks

  • +3

Can anyone confirm whether the $200 coupon can be used for this deal, or does JB not allow it?

    • i was able to use it last time for an s25 ultra, should be do-able I guess it would depend if the jbhifi sales rep wants to be a prickly about it.

  • What's the best way to get a new number to port in? Amaysim?

  • Just checking, if we don't have the $200 JB hi-fi voucher then the Harvey Norman deal would be comparable?

    • +1

Just grab a spare code. It 899 with the code.

    • JB 99x24 = 2356
      HN 69x24 = 1656
Optus plan 100 Gb is more than enough for normal usage .
After compare both , HN wins my wallet ;)

  • Anyone successfully stacked the $200 voucher?

    • Yea just finished my order this morning no issues.

      • Fold or Flip? If Flip, are we getting the $300 giftcard too?

      • So what was the breakdown of the total price with the $200 voucher?

  • Can someone please confirm:

-the $200 voucher is valid for the Fold 7?
-the $200 voucher is not valid for the Flip 7?

    Thanks!

    • It's valid for both

      • Do you still get the $300 gift card from jb?

Also if any1 has a spare $200 coupon, please pm me. Would really appreciate it! Cheers :)

  • +2

Did the ozb method today and for those wondering

Bought a kogan mobile plan for $10 esim and activated it and then ported over to telstra via the $99 z flip 7 with the -1450 discount

I asked them to do better and showed them the Harvey Norman one and the reluctantly agreed to add the $300 voucher upon pick up and they deducted another $100 off so for 1799 to 1699

    10 kogan e sim
    99 first month
    1699 for the phone
    -1450 phone voucher
    -766 calculation fee
    = 1144

-300 jb hifi voucher upon phone pick up
844 for the phone if you include the jb voucher

    Thanks ozb for the help

    • Nice work, did you do so this via JB hi-fi online chat or was it done in store

      • In store

For what its worth, the staff have done this and there is nothing shady - they are used to it and there is no skin off their back and its telstras back end
Once you cancel the contract, thats a telstra issue not a jbhifi issue

    • wasn't there suppose to be a $300 bonus gift card for the flip too?
