I thought I'll upgrade myself from a Eufy Homebase 2 to Homebase 3, to utilise it's additional benefits. I have an Eufy S340 camera.

Bunnings has it for $279.96 - https://www.bunnings.com.au/eufy-security-homebase-3_p041230…?

Note they also have a "refurbished" version for $199 delivered without coupon: https://goodbuyz.com.au/products/eufy-security-homebase-3-s3…?

Use code RETURN20 for 20% off, making it $181.98

    • Ah damn, I should have done more research! Nice code.

  • Thank you for sharing! Just bought, great price! I hope I dont get too jealous when the homebase 4 is released. :)

Anyone used Good Buyz? Not a lot of info on them, reviews etc

    • +6

Yeah, bought 2 of the Eufy floodlights from them a week or two ago, shipped promptly no issues

      • +2

        Thanks for the confirmation 👍

They are good until they are not. Good price, good packaging and shipping timely like other mainstream online stores. But when you have an issue after sale, very hard to get their CS response, mostly ignoring my emails (a DOA refurb camera), the rare time they responded, nothing helpful. It is still not resolved after 4 months.

    • I bought the refurb version of this, no complaints with the experience. It seemed new to me but in plain packaging. Heads up that that it doesn't come with a 12V power wart or Ethernet cable. The Return20 code should also work with it.

I have the Homebase 2 can someone enlighten me on why upgrading is worth it? hard to justify $180 for something that's main job is to connect up your camera's?

    • +2

I think this base takes an SSD, and the newer cameras aren't compatible with homebase 2, There's also more AI features like pet detection and detecting friend or foe, if friend like the owners it won't alert, only on strangers. I dont know how well that stuff works, haven't set mine up yet

The best thing I like about the HB2 is that it has backup battery. Don't know why HB3 doesn't.

      • How does that work? My Eufy Cameras are wireless to my internet router or USB powered. If the power goes, so will my internet and the wired ones will die?

        • I think the homebase makes its own wifi network separate to your wifi router, so in theory it keeps accepting video from cameras during an outage. You won't have remote viewing capability, but the video will keep recording.

    • +1

I just upgraded at this price, mainly because opening videos is so slow with HB2.

      • Takes me about a second, maybe two max. Is your router far away or something from the cameras?

      • Exactly and it fails a lot

    Bought one, thanks for sharing!
Bought quite a few S340 solo cam from the Bunnings deal last year, looking forward to connecting them to the new Homebase

  • +1

    Excellent, thanks OP.

Nearly double the price at JB Hifi at the moment.

FYI you need to buy the power supply separately - not included.

I did not read at first and had to put through as a separate order.

    • Bought 2 wks ago but haven't opened. Where does it say you need to buy separate power supply?

    • Are you looking at the refurbished version?

    • +3

only for the refurb model where accessories are not included.
refurb + power adapter, there is not much savings, might as well buy new and get all the original accessories.

      • Thx for clarifying, thought they meant the new product.

    • Does hb2 power cable work on this?

  • Stupid question but if I were to setup home assistant can I make this work with a mix of reolink and eufy cameras?

    • No. Only eufy will record to this.

    • I have my homebase 2 with 2C cameras in home assistant but don't really use it tbh. You may be able to make it work

  • Is anyone using it?
Any interference issues with wi-fi 2.4/5Ghz frequency?
Any drop outs when using microwave oven?

    • +1

      None that I’ve come across.

    • +3

I replaced my Homebase 2 with one last year. It’s been great, no interference from the microwave or anything else. Mine is about 5 meters from the microwave.

      • Sounds good 👍

      • Was it worth the upgrade?

        • +2

Yes, it was worth it. I got it so I could add the Eufy Floorlight Camera and save the footage directly to the Homebase.

          • @jimojr: which floodlight camera do you use? im looking to migrate my google nest floodlight camera over to eufy ones because of homebase. Im looking at the eufy floodlight 2k pro

            • @AssBargain: I’ve had the eufy Security Floodlight Cam E 2K for two years. About 2–3 months ago, the floodlight started flickering. I’ve tried resetting it and confirmed the firmware is up to date, but it didn’t fix the issue.
It seems like many others are having the same problem, probably best to avoid buying this model.

    Ordered one, thanks op

  • Cheers OP, been waiting for this to go on sale.

HB2 is going for $70-100 on FBMP so I'll list mine for $50 with the battery and earn a nice discount on this new one.

  • Looking to do 24/7 recording so this upgrade will get me there I think.

    • How does 24/7 recording work on the Eufy? I guess you need a wired camera, because 24/7 wireless recording I don't think you'd want to do… the constant saturation of your wifi network would be the first of several issues.

  • thanks.. ordered… been looking out for one of these for a while..

  • FYI for those interested - the Eufy website has it for $227 with their 35% coupon code on their website: https://www.eufy.com/au/products/eufy-security-homebase-3-s3…

    • +1

Is there a reason one would be interested in paying ~$45 more via Eufy than via this cheaper deal on OzBargain?

      • +1

        Nope

  • Had one of these and returned it. Worked fine for about 3 weeks then stopped recording any motion detection clips after an update. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked. It simple would not save the clips.

    • I hate the mandatory updates Eufy forces on everyone. I could be away from home for weeks, and in that case I don't want the homebase updating, resetting and potentially breaking at a critical times.

  • +1

just did a quick search and found this deal: https://www.devicedeal.com.au/eufy-security-eufycam-3-4k-wir… if anyone looking for the whole set with 4 camera.
I got Bunnings to price beat it for another 10% extra to about $1k (they added the shipping cost in before price beat).

  • Has anyone gone from HB2 to HB3? is it worth the upgrade?

  • Thanks for that. This is a really good price for a new one.

Any idea how long a SSD might last in this?

  • Now I just need a video doorbell. Of all of the doorbells, the E340 is the top of the range?

  • Thanks heaps OP! I've been intending to get a Eufy Doorbell, and sadly all the doorbell bundles come with Homebase 2.

Now all I need to a Eufy Doorbell. - Need to wait for a special to pop up.
