Seems we don't really post these due to Australia's network situation but I believe it should work and it has such good specs/price. Reasoning:

  • Own a Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE has been working fine on BOOST from 2022.
  • Is Global ROM
  • JB has the older 13 for $150 more than this.

Pros:

  • Cheaper by $100 than last seen of these phones on Ozb.
  • Snapdragon, has e-sim, nice battery with super fast charging.

Cons:

  • Has bloatware. Probs will flash with xiaomi.eu ROM. Google wallet still might be dodgy.
  • Camera is kinda mid from reviews.

Don't forget the cashback from cashrewards!
See clears posts on using USD to pay with a card without FX fees/charges.

BUYER BEWARE:

I also had a Redmi Note 9 before my Xiaomi 11 Lite, that i had to replace due to the Oz Network changes. So, there's a (low imo) chance this might get blacklisted.

⚠️IMPORTANT NOTICE

I agree with this but we can all tell Chinese smartphones are all better value than American equivalents.

Their tech is already surpassed US

      • Their tech is already surpassed US

The U.S. also has good tech., except that they release them in dribs and drabs,
and "manage the product lifecycle" just to 'milk' the market, for profits.

    • good info added to post about the risk

    • +1

Update: I gambled and it works!

  • +6

me and partner have been Xiaomi phone users since 2016 and gone through 3 phones with zeroes issues. Children have also been inducted into the Xiaomi family and theirs too have zero issues so far. knock on wood.

have great faith in the brand to the point the entire house is Xiaomi-ed ecosystem, from router to robot cleaner and everything else in between. all so far no issues as well.

    • +6

Xiaomi is a good brand. Have some 8-year-old power banks still working like new. Can't believe how durable they are, looks like they're gonna last generations.

      • +2

They are really good when it comes to power banks. Really solid.

    • me too am a big fan

  • Thanks. Been waiting for a good replacement for my huawei mate 20 for some time now. Preferably Xiaomi or oppo

  • +1

How do you get it to US$315.99 delivered? I'm getting a tax of US $35.09.

    • Same here

    • The tax would be for the GST which you get slugged with through AliExpress. You won't be able to avoid that.

    • my bad added price with tax into title

  • USB is only Type C 2.0. No fast transfer, no external display… such a waste

  • +3

    should work

I'll be happy to try that out and give you a full report - here's my account details for you to transfer the $485…

    • good shout, added some reasoning to post but the risk is definitely there

    • +1

Update: I gambled and just got it and it works!

What are your deets btw, for the next time?

  • It's showing as AU$493.01 on the product page. Gone up in price slightly obviously since yesterday?.

    • gotta change it to USD and pay in USD, I've changed the title's price to reflect the ali tax too

  • +1

Why are you paying extra for Blue colour when Black is cheaper?. It's the same phone just in a different colour.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008460438386.html?levelO…

    • Changed it to black in title thx

  • +2

In our family we have a Xiaomi 13T, Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 10 Pro. All are global versions bought from Aliexpress and are working perfectly. The 13T and 11Pro are with Telstra MVNOs and 10Pro is with Amaysim.

I'm looking at buying Xiaomi 15T Pro when it's released.

    • Nice am also on a Mi 11 Lite no issues. 15T lookin good !

  • AU$547.76 with Tax

    • +3

It's the GST thanks to a certain Harvey.

    • +1

Added to title with black color

  • Anyone got a Xiaomi or Poco working normally on the Vodafone network?

    • +2

Yes. Working for 2 years with Vodafone

  • Not sure why this is even posted. It's no longer worth taking risks to import mobiles after that stupid regulation on 4G

Therefore just get a local device outright or sign up a plan

    • Agreed there's a risk have added the to post

    • +1

I personally agree it is not worth the risk, but I do think it's fine for deals like this to be posted here as long as there are disclaimers.
It is ultimately up to the purchaser to decide if they wish to hedge their bets of the import mobile with good value hardware will work with Australian network carriers (and nil local warranty) versus it being potentially blacklisted. Everyone's risk appetite/tolerance is totally different. Maybe someone is looking for a second phone and had a limited budget and wanted something with better specs than want the Australian retail stores can offer.

      • +1

        Perfect sentiment

  • +4

Poco X4GT blacklisted by Telstra just after 3G shutdown but whitelisted after numerous chats with contradictory advice( IMEI and Telstra texts advising compatible) plus ombudsman communication. Problem was with Volte .
Switched to Optus 4 months ago with zero issues. Local retailers and telcos selling mobiles at inflated prices so have vested interests in blocking purchases from overseas.
Gouging as per normal Australian corporate greed and pathetic corporate ethics. F the customer!

    • Yes whirlpool also says to do VoLTE enabling right?

  • +1

redmi low end of xiaomi normally doesn't have band28 wihch used for 3g 4g emergency calls , as a result of closure of 3g network phone cannot be used

    • I have another low end xiaomi that works perfectly on BOOST, but I've added that info and the general risk to the post.

      • redmi is low end xiaomi is not

    • Update: I got my order and it works!

  • +2

If you're thinking of buying a Xiaomi mobile you need to understand the various technical issues that MIGHT be a problem in Oz. Firstly the bootloader. There are usually three versions of any Xiaomi model, the Chinese Version, the Chinese version hacked with a Global ROM (bootloader unlocked) and the Global Version. The first USUALLY won't connect to Australian networks, the second does with SOME networks and the third is GENERALLY OK everywhere .. and the most expensive!! ALSO the phone you choose must have 4g (or 5G) VOLTE connection to 000. AND it must have LTE Band 28. If the phone you choose meets all these requirements it will work in Oz. If it meets all these criteria and you find that it doesn't connect to your preferred service provider (Telstra is the worst) it will connect elsewhere (Voda is the best). Just switch, it's no big deal. We have two Xiaomi Note 10 5G NFC phones, my wife's is the Global Version and it's running fine on More (Telstra reseller). I have the Xiaomi Note 10 5G NFC Global ROM, it's also OK on More BUT because the bootloader is unlocked Google Wallet doesn't work, security issue (although NFC does). HOWEVER the bank (which bank?) has it's own NFC wallet and that does work. Footnote: Xiaomi makes solid mobiles with good specs at a fraction of the cost of the market leaders, beyond the 000 farce we've never had an issue after three generations of Xiaomis!!

    • you find that it doesn't connect to your preferred service provider (Telstra is the worst) it will connect elsewhere

Until it doesn't, if it already works in the first place.

because the bootloader is unlocked Google Wallet doesn't work

That can be fixed, but it's a bit of a game of cat and mouse these days.

  • I have a redmi note 12 pro plus on JB Hifi - Telstra MVNO - works fine. Gets 5g.

  • +1

    Price is now USD$325.16 !!!

Very tempting. I would jump on this if we don't have this 3g shutdown BS that lockout a lot of good Xiaomi phones

  • +1

Just a note to all, I have received the phone and my BOOST sim card works and is getting 5G/data/calls/sms.
I have added some notes about my process to flash it with xiaomi.eu ROM and bootloader unlocking.

    • +1

Could you mind check your TAC at Optus see if not blocked?

    • +1

Does it support esim? Got mixed messages that some do , some don't depending on region.

      • +1

I do see it does in the settings, I've yet to try it. My current BOOST is physical sim.
I'll go on a trip soon and will try it then.

    • well does optus work?

      • I'm not sure I only have boost

        • Could you use Google wallet to make payment ?
