    What's the processor inside

    • +16

      Core 2 duo.
      Plays intel chime

    • Quad-core 1.3 GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage According to quick google search

Realtek RT51M Platform SoC specifically, assumed based on RTD2880. Likely Cortex-A55 @ ~1.3 GHz

      Edit: Below says Cortex-A55 + A75.

It's apparently similar to TCL's own P745 series, the specs are near identical (same CPU, same features, similar panel specs)

Note this model is apparently known for premature backlight failures, keep that in mind. Consumer law won't be good for over ~2-3 years at this price point.

Interested. But I've got a 32" FFalcon Google TV and the performance is tragic. I haven't checked the processor and RAM, but it's clearly not up to the job. At best, I got what I paid for.

Any chance this will be any better?

When did you buy it. This is a 2025 model with Quad-core 1.3 GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage

    • +6

I had the same one, would have been faster for me to draw each frame on the screen with a dry erase marker.

    • Probably would be worth just getting a Chromecast or firestick on top of that

      • Fire sticks are like $40 and the bloat is pretty minimal.

when you have to check specs of your TV you know it's a POS,

dont blame the hardware, blame the person who bought it lol

For a 50 inch budget TV under $350, these type of models work ok for basic streaming if used as secondary or bedroom TVs.

      • +4

I have one as a primary TV, they are fine

        • +1

Thanks for sharing your real experience with it instead of talking about hardware specifications

    Good deal for mousepad

  • I use one of these in the guest toilet.

      Same

Damn, I bought one at jbhifi 2 days ago at $399. Do they have a retrospective price beat?

I'm pretty happy with it, haven't had any issues. They are definitely better than the previous version where they are a quasi smart tv with a few pre-installed apps and no option to download any new apps.

How is the interface from a lag/responsiveness perspective?

    • I believe they usually will refund the difference within 2 weeks. Definitely worth a call!

    • Some cards have purchase protection if it's >$50 difference, mainly high-end credit cards (platinum / AMEX ultimate / etc)

Got the 55 version for $350 down from RRP at TGG a couple of months ago.

    • And what's it like?

    • @15KING Did you buy the 2024 model or the newer 2025 model with stock Android 15?
I ask because TGG were clearing the 2024 model

      • It was the 2025 model. Good value for money but 3 months later it developed a weird freeze while off. Apparently common. Followed the ffalcon processes. Ie photos video etc and they refunded it.

  • +3

    Just bought it, thanks!

    • Is it worth while?

  • +6

Can the complaints about hardware be overcome with a chromecast/external input? Or is the issue related to the actual refresh rate/conversion of signal to display?

    • +3

Yes, a cheap Chromecast or FireTV will resolve most issues.

    • +2

I had a 55 and it was fine using a Chromecast. Did a bit of tweaking and got what I thought was a good picture.

    • Cheap Chromecast solves it, as long as it's not also laggish switching to HDMI (some TVs are that clogged up and slow they're slow with that even).

Note this series is apparently known for premature backlight failures, despite only being released this year

  • How would this compare to the TCL entry level TV's?

I bought the TCL C655 50" last year as a 3rd TV and have zero gripes about it for what it is. We are looking to get another the same or similar to wall mount in bedroom.

    • This apparently compares closely to a TCL P745

    • This is an entry level TCL TV, made by same company.

  • this or the Kogan equivalent? thanks

  • Has anyone tried to use this as a PC monitor? If so, how is the chroma subsampling / subpixel layout?

  • I get "Your order can't be delivered to your location. Please try a different address." I'm in Melbourne.

  • Bought one thanks OP =) using as store screen playing loop mode on a video

    • This will be a good test how long it will last

      • its on from today 8 -9 hours daily =)

  • +2

    Thanks.

    In store matched the $343 + (spend 100 and get $20 off) + $20 voucher + 4% giftcard

    Cheers!

    • Where did you get the other voucher?

      • I bought an airfryer for $145+ 35 gold service warranty (still below other retailers), so using my $20 voucher issued per quarter over 3 years.

  • Bought. Wanted a cheap TV for rumpus/office room, this should do the job nicely.

    • Unboxed it yesterday. Terrific value and the Google TV menu works just as well as on the Chromecasts I have on our other TVs.
