  • Any other deals to stack with this like referrals?

    • +1

I dont think BoM has a referral system, I looked for them prior to posting this deal but didn't see any

if i already/currently have st george and westpac, i still can get this right? they seems to be the same mob

  • Good deal.

Already have a Westpac account. Which of the others gets the best offers from Shopback or are they typically grouped together?

    • +1

It’s either westpac and the others or westpac or the others 😆

  • I think I'll get one to finally get shopback bonuses. Which would be the best one to get? Or are they all the same?

    • You do know that Shopback does not depend upon any specific payment method right….?

Having, and paying via your registered Westpac account usually supplements what is a majority Shopback cashback offer.

  • I am currently overseas… would I be able to get the card and do an overseas transaction to qualify?

    • +1

Afair, westpac offers immediate digital visa on its app right after successful application.

Can we still get this deal on the banks that I am not with, if I already have a bank account with just some of these banks?

    • Its not clear, from what I can see they all call the account the Complete Freedom account, and T and Cs state you can't have had one in the last 2 years.

They dont explicitly say you can't get it across them all

  • Thanks

Anyone tried across different banks and see if one can get $50 from each different bank?

  • The Bank SA terms and conditions only state that you must not have held a transaction account with Bank SA in the last two years. No mention of Complete Freedom accounts at all.

  • You don’t need to go into the bank to open this? A few years ago you had to.

    • I've not set foot in a bank in this country for 25yrs or more and I have/had accounts with just about everyone.
BOM have been offering online signup rewards since 2017, so has been available at least that long.

Can you make multiple transactions totalling $50 or has to be in 1 transaction? I couldn't find the info on the T&Cs

    • multiple is fine

  • -1

Is there any fee for opening and keeping this account? I wonder I just get this $50 and close it or just keep it?

    • No. 60days after meeting the criteria is the terms of the Westpac (and likely others) offer, for the amount of time the account needs to remain active for

I already have a Westpac and St George account, and when I open this BoM account, the application was refused and the screen said:

“Sorry, we're unable to complete your request
It looks like some of your details are already in our system under an existing account. If you'd like some help resolving this, you can visit a Bank of Melbourne branch.”

    • Hello @wwykath, yes with me also the same problem existed…. I only have St George bank account but when I tried BOM and BANKSA, it gave me the same error what you got….any help around this how to create the bank accounts with them…

      • Hi, checking if you had any luck with this error ?

  • If you are having trouble with the online application (it's telling you it can't open accounts online) and you're using Chrome, switch over to Edge or another browser.
I tried several times with Chrome and incognito mode with a failure each time - switched to Edge and completed app successfully first attempt.
Might have been a caching problem, who knows - my attitude is that should be handled by the programmers, not the customers - I never hold with tech support telling me to clear my cache - if your software detects errors, the program should clear it's own cookies and cache!
Anyways, might help if you're on Chrome and stuck.

    • Did you manage to open all the different brand bank accounts with the Edge browser…..while creating the accounts when I was getting the error that your details already existed under our system, I tried with different email address and phone number for the other brand (DOB and other details were as it is) but still it doesn't help ….did you changed any of your details while signing up for all the bank accounts or you kept all the details same for all of them ….

      • Nope - same details - I did exactly the same thing on Edge as on Chrome.

  • anyone know if with BOM and SA, we can add the card to google wallet straight away after opening account without waiting for physical card? (westpac can, st george cannot)

    • +1

Signed up to BoM yesterday. Can confirm that you can't.

      • Same here - cannot access the digital card yet with BoM.

Heads-up - DON'T OPEN THE ACCOUNT OUTSIDE BOM BUSINESS HOURS!

Apparently (from a chat with BoM customer service via the app), if you open the account outside business hours, a card is not automatically generated, and you'll need to call a bwanker to get one issued or it'll never arrive!!! (If you opened your account and didn't have this prob, clearly I've just been told a porky pie by the cs rep)

What rubbish is this? Fine, don't issue the card outside of business hours, but catch up next day.

Also, there is nothing about this mentioned during application, nor afterwards. So, if you aren't proactive in chasing the card, it'll never be issued, and you can kiss any chance of spending within the 15 day window of opening the account.

My response, lodge a complaint, withdraw the balance. Ignore the requirement to call a bwanker (and waste yet more time on hold) just to get a card that should have been issued automatically.

Having now dealt with St George and BoM and suffered nonsense and time-wasting business practices with both, I'm beginning to understand why they have to lure new clients in with payments and cashback. But surely don't immediately annoy new clients to the point where they leave.

    • I opened my BoM account outside of business hours but luckily they sent mine in 5 business days without case up. But everything else is true, support is super annoying. You can only use your digital card once your physical one is sent (which means you lose all the time between creating your account and getting it in the mail)

      • Same as st george. But Westpac we can

        • I guess that's a perk that comes with being one of the "Big 4 Banks". Or a case of "the 3 others" and just about every other account service provider support this feature, so Westpac normally wouldn't have much of a choice. But they're actually innovators in the digital card arena, being the first of the Banks to support a daily rolling dynamic CCV for online TX's.

  • has anyone managed to get $50 CB from multiple banks (BoM, St George, BankSA). I just opened a St George account after opening a BoM account last week. Not sure if St George will honour it.

    • i dont think we can with BoM, St George, BankSA because they shared the same login details - i have stg then open bom i cant create new account it says already have on system then i tried using my stg user and password, boom i was in and i see 2 Complete Freedom Accounts :(

but stg and wstpc they are different and i got 2x50 already

    • Yes. I have received. When i initially opened St.George, the offer was different 40$ on 160$ grocery spends at supermarkets, i received $40. After that i opened BoM and got $50 cashback. Opened BankSA recently, have to wait for that. I received BoM cashback exactly after 30 days of spend.

      • +1

when you open BOM did you able to get new customer number of used the same as stG customer number (and password) to login?

        • Same customer number. Used existing customer option and it showed up my address and mobile and just need to confirm it to receive the debit card.

          • +1

@pkr1308: Hmm but when i log in now i see 2 complete freedom accounts (stg and bom) I dont think i will get twice but will try anyway.

  • Might go get a gift card in person at 7/11 and then yeah, go from there. Could get $100 on the gift card since I already have Westpac.

Scratch that, same error as others.

    • This deal wasn't anything to do with $100 Westpac Gift Cards at 7/11, maybe that's why it isn't working?

  • ok setting reminder 60 days to check if i hit the jackpot

    • Honestly, you're setting up for disappointment… If you proceed without a reminder, there is no event which is being countdown to which holds your success or impending failure, so should be less disappointing find it empty (especially when they've all had this deal for years, and it looks like only relatively recently that the automatic denial capability has been seen by the smaller within the group.

  • Tried to sign up with BankSA again believing I closed my account more than 2 years ago. But my details are still in the system apparently :/

Edit: tried with BoM knowing I've never had an account with them before. Still the same issue. I guess it's because I have a StG account already. So it looks like you can't have all 3.

    • +1
