Makes the upcoming Xperia Z even more desirable, considering the phone itself has got some pretty impressive specs.

I know it's not as good but I got 50gb for 2 years with Drop Box with my Samsung Note 2

Doesn't it just make sense to get the phone when you decide to upgrade your note? I wouldn't want to buy a flagship item on release the price will tear you in half.

Doesn't it just make sense to get the phone when you decide to upgrade your note?

I've read that sentence 5 times and I still don't understand what you're saying.

I agree that Box is not nearly as good as Dropbox and I'm glad I got the 50GB for 2 years with my Note II. But the difference here is that the 50GB from Dropbox is 2 years whereas the Box deal is for the lifetime of the product. But having said that, no one knows what cloud storage will be like in 2015 so I might not even be using Dropbox or Box at that point.

      • By the time we upgrade it'll probably be a much larger drop box for a much longer time.

      • Just looking at it now, I only have 2gb, in order to get the other 48gb I have to complete 5 steps :(
        Might do that now.

  • Does it apply on Sony ultraconvertible products, i.e. Sony Duo 11 or Sony Tap 20 which can also be used as tablets?

lol, they had this offer last year that expired december 31st 2012

  • Good to know, i've been thinking of buying an Xperia V.

  • I got this deal a while ago on an LG phone I bought. Using box is just frustrating, the apps for iOS and android constantly crash, and uploading lots of files (ie photos) is a slow and tedious experience.

    But it is free.

  • Its FREE… a + from me…

  • I just got it with my x10. However, I've got 35GB on dropbox so I'm hesitent to swap over. I'll be testing it out for a while before I decide which is best.

Does anyone know any free upgrade options like dropbox has? Free data for students, that sort of thing.

    • Just sign up so you have it if you need it. You don't have to use it now.

  • Just worked from my Xperia P and now on my iPad as 50GB.

    • Correct, firstly you will need to register for the account on a Sony device, then when you log in from your idevice you will see the 50GB

      • Correct.

Not as good as dropbox - their file syncing client costs $$$ to get.

No it doesn't. Maybe ur thinking of the business/enterprise product..?
I've had 50GB from when I got my touchpad & read something 3 days ago about 'boxSync' downloaded it for free to my PC & … Voila PC sync!
(Its not as smooth as dropbox but gets the job done!)

  • Just checked my box account, I still have 50GBs from signing up with an android device ages ago. Not sure how long that lasts?

  • Probably a silly question but, what if I get rid of the phone with which I created the account? Do I still get to keep the storage?

    • +1

Yes once you have created your account you can access your account from anywhere. The account is for life.

  • Thx OP. Might come in handy!

I got 50Gb on my box account from another promotion last year. If I now use my Xperia smartphone, does that mean I will get 100GB of free storage ?

    • +2

      Didn't for me.

Box have really been behind the ball I've found. Still free storage ftw. Would be nice to have be able to move storage locations without having to use junctions and shit…
