BenQ ScreenBar Halo Monitor Light – Great Deal with Free Webcam Accessory!

I've been keeping an eye on the BenQ ScreenBar Halo for my home office setup, and finally found a solid deal worth sharing.

Despite being released in late 2021, the ScreenBar Halo remains one of the highest-rated monitor lights on the market. It’s a favorite among professionals and home office users for its eye-care features and sleek design.

πŸ”§ Key Features:
  • πŸ’‘ Asymmetric Optical Design – Lights up your desk without reflecting on your screen.
  • πŸ”„ Back Light with 3 Modes – Choose between front, back, or both to reduce contrast between your monitor and surroundings.
  • πŸŽ›οΈ Wireless Controller – Adjust brightness and color temperature with over 100 stepless levels.
  • πŸ–₯️ Fits Curved Monitors – Comes with a patented clip and accessory to fit most curved monitors (0.7–6.0 cm thick).
  • πŸŒ— Auto Dimming Sensor – Automatically adjusts brightness based on ambient light.

πŸ’Έ Pricing & Promo:
  • $209 for the ScreenBar Halo alone.
  • Add the Webcam Accessory (normally $29) and use the VISAFIVE promo code to bring the total down to $204.
  • βœ… That’s basically getting the webcam accessory for free, plus a small discount on top!

Still a top-tier choice in 2025 for anyone looking to upgrade their workspace lighting. Let me know if you’ve used this or have other recommendations!

  • Can I just put one of these behind my monitor?

    • Kids can see in the dark, so yes.

I've got one of these and whilst they are very good, I struggle to believe there isn't a similar quality Chinese equivalent for like $50.

    • +1

I have one of these, little bit more than $50 but i've been very happy with it.

    • +3

Indeed. Xiaomi goes to around $50 from time to time
      E.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/863074
      Should not worth $200

    • Xiaomi ones are good enough considering the price.

The trouble will be finding it. I have one of these BenQ and don't regret buying it.

    • I bought the Kmart model with built-in webcam mentioned in the message below and returned it after a few days. I eventually settled on the Xiaomi one, which I am happy with. The BenQ is better, but not $150 better than the Xiaomi. Main perks of the BenQ one is the backlight. Note that there is a newer model (Halo 2) with a built-in proximity sensor coming, which is likely why it is on sale.

  • Glad I got 2 of the Kmart ones with integrated 1080p webcams for $20 back in the day

I have this and the wireless controller is annoying. It's activated by hovering your hand over it and the detection is unreliable. You can't tell if it hasn't detected your hand or the 3 x AAA batteries are dead (which happens faster than it should).

I regret getting this over a cheap Chinese equivalent.

  • If it came with a webcam then maybe its good, but its just a piece of plastic/rubber…

    • But surprisingly useful. I've got the Xiaomi version and while it works fine, I've had to move it to the very far side of my 34 inch monitor to make room for my webcam.

The Mi version's power cable comes right out of the top where this camera holder would go.

      • I just dangle my webcam on top of that power cable (I have the same one). It sits fine because I'm not touching my monitor.

        • Ah, because I have a sit stand desk, the motion would send the camera toppling.

I suspect there is something I could 3d print to solve this!

          • @y2k: Theres always old school blutac

  • How does the Quntis monitor light bar glow plus and glow pro compare to this? Big difference in price

  • +3

Very overpriced and low quality product, even if the deal is lower than normal. Highly recommend the Xiaomi

  • having used the Xiaomi light bar for years, one thing i would make sure is that the shape of the rear of the monitor, at the top where the light bar sits, isn't too wide. it ensures that the lightbar's counter-weight sits nicely. if there is a noticeable curve to the back of the monitor it could push the counter too far back & cause the lightbar to topple forward…

this BenQ could be different, but judging by the look, it's probably not too far off.

LOL $209? That is ridiculous pricing right there.

    • I'm glad someone said it.

  • Hard catch when alternatives are 1/5th the price for 90% of the functionality.

  • Why would one need it?

  • I bought one of these (sans controller) a few years back when they were on sale for Black Friday. I've been using it every day so I've definitely given it some mileage, but while I love it, there's no way I'd pay $200+ just for an added controller. Especially given the Quntis one that got posted the other day seems like a winner at a fraction of the cost.

I've quite liked mine for the past year. Use it daily. Is very expensive relative to others but I've never tired others to be able to compare build quality etc.
