Is there any way to customise the things listed on this site so I don't see sub 5$ food items? There's a lot of this lately and I'm really not interested. (Sorry, thanks and all) - anyone?

    • -6

You can vote me down all you like, it seems I'm not the only one thinking this way, yes a deal is a deal but do I really give a damn about $2.50 honey? Seriously? I love honey but I come here to find Televisions, PS3's, Clothes and technical gadgets cheap

Eventually this place will be swamped by user submissions of stupid crap just to get hits, using it more as advertising than bargains.

Start up a new site and call it www.hamwhisperersTVsPS3sClothes&TechGadgetsOver$5.com.au

How hard is it to make a filtering criteria so I don't get bombarded with stupid shit like Tim tams, Honey, Trays of eggs or comments from derps?

        • Make it yourself?
          (sincerely, derp 1)

        • link no worky

Eventually this place will be swamped by user submissions

Not from your good self, obviously….. just another happy leecher

    • Just click on "Hide from listing" just under the deal description and select your preferences.

      • Thank you, someone decent replies, appreciated!
EDIT: hah you're a mod, couldn't vote you up. makes sense - - thanks for being helpful

      • Also, just general feedback, if we can subscribe to certain categories and not others, it would be good, thanks again for the help.

        • You can already subscribe to categories too. Every deal has a category. Clicking on that will take you to the category page. You can then click on 'subscribe' for that.

Edit: Not sure what you're expecting, but 'subscribe' here refers to getting email notifications.

        • -3

I have no issue with email notifications, I have issues with the front page updated with idiot 3$ items linked to by spammers. I'd like the front page to not contain any more food related discounts.

        • +1

          Some people eat food.

        • -1

Maybe if you bought some more idiot 3$ items you'd be able to run your very own www.hamwhisperersTVsPS3sClothes&TechGadgetsOver$5.com.au
(a bargain is a bargain is a bargain)

        • -1

We don't need idiot shit like honey on the site, knock yourself out.

        • +1

How about you actually post a deal instead of leeching and complaining about others posts?

  • Did you know that Capilano Honey is also Halal certified !

    http://www.halalchoices.com.au/product_lists_halal.html

Crazy that even a product like honey had to be "certified"

    • +2

You would be surprised at how many products contain non halal animal ingredients

      • +1

What is the difference b/w halal and normal honey?

        • +2

Simple.. Two bee or not two bee, that's the difference.

        • What is the difference b/w halal and normal honey?

One has paid the fees to the Islamic certifications organisations and the other has not.

The real problem imho is this fact is not displayed widely on the product, so customers do not know that the products they are buying support Halal certifications.

        • +1

Is it really a big a deal if it's displayed or not? If the halal certification doesn't apply to you what does it matter?

        • There is no difference all honey is halal unless a non halal animal product has been added to the mix or alcohol.

        • @ dealman: You are an amazingly smart dog, but let me guess you chase bees and sook when you get stung?

        • -1

Is it really a big a deal if it's displayed or not? If the halal certification doesn't apply to you what does it matter?

It matters because I'd like to see which organisations are supporting Islamic institutions, even for products that obviously don't need it.

More importantly I think customers should be able to make a conscious choice, and not have Hallal thrust upon them without them knowing or choosing.

There is no difference all honey is halal unless a non halal animal product has been added to the mix or alcohol.

The difference as I said before in the case of Honey is just an organisation that has paid the "certification organisations" and others that have not.

Really upsetting to know that people don't like Muslims so much as to not buy halal products. I hope one day you can open your heart a little to
the Muslim community and learn that there not all that bad.

I hope one day you can open your heart a little to
the Muslim community and learn that there not all that bad.

I don't have any problems with Muslims or any religion as long as each religion is kept as a personal matter within everyone's homes. I have plenty of Muslim friends, personally don't care either way about religion. What I do have a problem with , is halal foods being the default everywhere, especially when this is being done surreptitiously done (no obvious signage on the packaging).

Let me say this, any certifications work like a tax imposing a cost on the manufacturer. On Why one should not support Halal, some of the reasons I choose are here

          http://www.qsociety.org.au/qonhalal.pdf

While I don't agree with all of those claims since many are unsubstantiated , I do agree with the following.

          • As Australians we are not given a real choice. Why not publish the certification on the packaging ?

          • In 30 or 300 years I don't want Australia to come under Sharia law ? more halal certrification is a step in that direction.

          • Finally, groups like Animals Australia and the RSPCA have serious issues with the level of cruelty that halal slaughter can inflict upon animals

No "special" price required to enjoy honey year round

  • Have to keep updating my bottle of Capillano since it inevitably goes candied in Winter and I need to buy a new bottle. Thanks! Love that Capillano is Australian honey too. You can taste the difference. During a sourcing problem they used honey from other sources on some sizes of product and it just wasn't the same.

    • put your bottle of candied honey in hot water or low setting in the microwave to bring it back to normal

  • is it pure honey or not??
