Seems like a great price for the specs,i'd say this phone is suited to someone who's after bang for buck and needs 4G,the details..

      they usually say what it's expandable BY, not expandable TO.
      It looks weird saying 48GB when you mean the 16gb internal with a 32GB Micro SD card.
      The information is only needed so you know what micro SD cards it works with.

        Some Note 2's are listed in dodgy way on eBay, ie, as if 32GB (where they come with only 16GB + a 16GB micro SD card!)

      Yes, it's an HTC therefore unlocked bootloader, therefore custome ROMS, therefore none of the software problems with the RAZR V.
      Plus, now that I've read your link, better hardware all round and 4G to boot!

      Only negative is Telstra Only for rural 3G coverage, which excludes it as an option for me.

    great deal, just beware that on 4G this phone has appalling battery life, and it has no 900mhz 3G band for optus rural 3G.

          That thread is over two years old…since then Optus has significantly expanded its 900mhz 3G range and added urban 900mhz 3G infill. You are really missing out if you have a smartphone on Optus and don't have access to the 900mhz 3G band.

          Don't blindly look at GSM arena; phones support different bands in different parts of the world. GSM Arena is why Vodafone would not initially believe me when I said the stupid phone they gave me was not compatible with their new network (GSM Arena said it was).

        C&P from GSMarena? That means there's two models, according to DSE they are stocking the 850/2100 so no 900 3g

      Virgin uses the Optus network and supports the 2100 mhz band. When it says dual band 3G (900/2100) does that mean your phone needs both bands available?

      So would this work fine on the Optus network and just struggle in rural areas?

        It would work fine on 2G. On 3G it would only work in the cities, and even then not nearly as well as phones that do UMTS 900. I don't recommend getting this phone if you are not with telstra.

      I too was waiting for the Nexus 4, but when the SGS3 4G dropped down to around $500 just over a month ago I jumped on it and couldn't be happier with it! A huge improvement over the iPhone 3GS I was stuck with.
      My advice: give up antagonizing over the Nexus 4 and whether it will ever actually be released again, go buy something else, be happy now :)

          Next door neigbour's daughter has one. Just had a play with it. Not bad. Quite bulky and heavy though …and said she needs to charge it "ALL THE TIME!". She's a teen .. so that probably translates to twice a day for an adult.

          i have Gnexus also. i want a 4g upgrade, but google hasnt released yet. this is an older release than Gnexus, it was one of the first 4g phones that telstra releeased. im running 4.2.1 on gnexus, anything less would be going backwards!

          It always depends on where you live in Cairns Optus seems to have the best reception followed closely by Telstra with Vodaphone as a far distant relative that only has 1 eye left and no teeth.

      Yeh I sold mine on gumtree as well, sold if for 270 a couple of weeks ago. Battery life is terrible with the telstra 4g dropping in and out.

      ive had my HTC Desire HD for 12 months and its just habit to put in on charge at night and after lunch. not ideal but workable. was thinking this would be the same.

        Yeh I guess its doable even better if you have car charger, with any heavy app use/browsing the back heats up a lot. Almost like burning your thigh or hand. Its a good price though.

    The cheapest 4G phone on prepaid is the Telstra Frontier 4G and this HTC kicks the heck out of it on specs.

    Found this gem from whingepool.
    So a few setting may fix it

    "I was only getting 8 hours out of the phone on ICS. With these changes I am getting 28 hours. These are aggressive. But would be interested if you started here to see what can be achieved and then tweak a few things from this base.

    1. Settings/display/brightness/
      Set brightness slider to just one up from the lowest.
      Sleep 1 min

    2. Settings/Blue tooth off

    3. Settings/Calls/Use Internet Calling/
      Only for internet calls

    4. Settings/Apps/
      Press running. Check for no surprises.
      Possible list:
      Settings/battery Saver/htc locations/Telstra One/Google Services/Maps/Mail/Touch Input etc.
      You can hit the menu and turn cached processes on to see recent info.

    5. Settings/Account&sync

    "Weather"
    Update when opened-tick
    Update schedule: every 3 hours
    Sync weather: tick

    "Google"
    Just Sync Contacts

      Press Optimise

    As above for me this increased the battery life from less than 8 hours to about 28 hours . Sometimes with these settings the radio takes a moment to wake up. Anyway hope this helps and you can tweak the things you need from here."

      The HTC has 4G connectivity and larger internal storage, but apparently shorter battery life (IIRC, the exterior is very plasticky, as well). The Razr V supports more 3G bands, has a slightly better pixel density, and (IMO) a better skin and build quality (they feel very solid, and the chrome highlights are quite nice)
