Awesome.. want one of these, except I only bought my phone last year and don't feel like upgrading every year. Also HTC M7 is coming out soon, which will be very similar to this.

I just don't know how reputable you guys are.

    • Lostn, We are a shopping mall and Online platform which is offering International shipping. What is your eyes would help us increase credibility in Australia?

      • +4

Good question. We like established retailers as opposed to new or unknown. New players don't have a history. Buying from someone you don't know much about is seen as taking a chance.

For a new player to be perceived well it has to have good feedback from previous buyers who spread their feedback by word of mouth. You would need to have good warranty procedures, reasonable shipping costs, not be reluctant when it comes to returns/warranty/refunds. Don't charge surcharges. Accept Paypal. And of course be competitive on price.

Taking payments in HKD is probably not the best way to start.

Another side note is to inquire if there is any demand for us offering a Warranty of our product? If so we will start a 1 year warranty program for 4% of the cost of the product (Shipping 1 way is paid by customer) we will send it back for free!

This part does not sound good. Warranty of 1 year should be standard, not something you have to pay 4% extra for. If you really want to offer a good service, warranty shipping should be covered by you both ways as Kogan does.

        • -1

Kogan offer this due to their markup is 10% above ours.

        • Hello Woodhouse, are you able to provide the Sony Xperia Z with the Sony NFC speaker for <$700 AUD delivered?

          Thank you.

    • I just don't know how reputable you guys are.

Few people have bought the Nexus 4 from them and haven't had any problems.

  • What's different with this and an S3 and it not having LTE? Beside being HTC:)

    • The specs are way better ><

      • ram and storage r the same.
        Nom.just saw that s3 is a 1.4 not a 1.5

        • The processor is a LOT better. Clock speed is a very small part of the overall performance.

    • +2

This has a full HD screen, better cpu, and gpu.

      • +1

        Ahh.fifnt see screen specs

xperia z> htc butterfly, 3 more weeks I think. Bonus wireless speaker with this deal, http://www.clove.co.uk/sony-xperia-z

    • +3

Ozhunter do you think there is a market for the Xperia Z? We got stock but I wasn't sure if it was popular in Australia.

      • +2

Of course, similar specs to the htc butterfly, except it's water and dust resistant, better camera, radio, and based on youtube videos and reviews it has exceptional build quality with a premium finish. Also looks better :D

        • +1

I agree with Ozhunter. Xperia Z is the phone i am waiting for.

        • Please do not ask users to vote for your deals as this is against our guidelines.

        • Of course, similar specs to the htc butterfly, except it's water and dust resistant

I believe the Butterfly is also water resistant.

Sony phones are not that popular. Their market share is something like 1.5%. Samsung has by far the biggest slice of Android pie.

        • +1

          @Woohouse

I didn't plus it because I don't think it's a good deal. Xperia Z available from clove.uk in 9 days according to this video which is better, cheaper, and includes a bonus Sony wireless speaker. I find it hard for any retailer to beat that deal on release.

The Nexus 4 deal isn't even good. You can get it locally for that price. It's also expected to be available today for $420 delivered from Google Play.

          @lostn

The HTC J Butterfly is water-resistant, not this one.

        • Just clicked that video link and they fixed the release date to 9th March

        • The HTC J Butterfly is water-resistant, not this one.

The butterfly is the J Butterfly renamed for a different market. J is what it's known as in Japan.

In the US, it's Droid DNA.

The rest of the world it's just Butterfly.

  • I must be half asleep because I can't see any specs for the screen.

    • +9

May be you need spec tacles Lol

  • +1

Nexus 4 is back in stock in the US and Germany. Australian Google Play Store has changed it from "Sold Out" to "Temporarily Out Of Stock". Just a heads up.

    • It's also now available in UK so it should be available in Australia at 9am AEDT.

      • Hopefully!

      • I think actually it might be in half hour? Depends which website you read I suppose

  • I love how this phone has a 2020mAh battery, embedded too.
Nothing like having a decent phone that doesn't make it through the day without a charger :)
    Are these network specs correct?
    HSPA/WCDMA:
    850/2100 MHz
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
    850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Seems like a flawed design all over.

    • +1

Dont get how the phone's specs make this not a deal.
I'd only neg because this is an overseas seller which is against guidelines.

      • I was just commenting on the phones specs.
Yeah it's got a full HD screen, a fairly good CPU + GPU, but then they skimp on a variety of other items.

        Seller is rather iffy.

Also the seller was begging for + so that in itself is worth a neg.

Price is far from good enough for the mentioned item.

Nobody is being offered freebies for the requested market research.

        • +1

That's what you should have said originally. Without an accompanying comment explaining the neg, the neg is useless.

          Seller is rather iffy.

Any particular reason why they're 'iffy'?

Also the seller was begging for + so that in itself is worth a neg.

No it's not. That's worth a report - after which a mod will remove it.

Price is far from good enough for the mentioned item.

Cheaper option for the same device?

Nobody is being offered freebies for the requested market research.

Market research? The rep is being courteous and asking us for our feedback and what we think (a rare thing, among reps nowadays) and you want free stuff for it? What the hell?

        • For gods sake, the neg is for the phone not having passed Australian approvals :)

Also does the phone come with an Australian approved charger?

          I have safety concerns.

          Are you happy now?

      • On another note what you and I consider a bargain is rather different :)

  • There's no doubt in my mind that this is a great phone but surely the price could be more competitive.

People were importing it from the US for $600+ shipping. Using a US mail forwarder only bumps the price up to $700 or so.

And even if it was at $700, like others have said, the Xperia z will be sold at an rrp of $749(street price would be lower) with aus warranty so surely that would be a better deal.

    • People were importing it from the US for $600+ shipping. Using a US mail forwarder only bumps the price up to $700 or so.

If you do that you're giving up your warranty. If you're using a freight forwarder, good luck when you have to send it back…

Also, the US version (called Droid DNA and the Sense interface looks very different) is exclusive to Verizon, like the previous HTC Rezound. Rezound was network locked. Are you certain the Droid DNA is Aus friendly?

For a phone you can't buy here, I think this price is quite reasonable.

The Xperia Z screen is not Super IPS LCD3 as far as I know. And their phones are not very popular. Their former flagship, Xperia S, I have never even seen as a display unit, and I've been to many phone shops / JB. One of the lesser Xperias is commonly demoed, but the S, you'd be lucky if they even have a dummy unit. I've never seen the screen in person. Just poor marketing by Sony. Their brand carries no weight in the phone industry.

      • +1

And their phones are not very popular

Until now. Xperia Z has very good reviews, new Sony skin(close to stock android) and it's hardware is up there with the top android phones out at the moment.

Whirlpool users have bought the Droid DNA for use in Australia. Not sure if LTE works here or if only works on certain carriers.

        • All of their phones have been good. Just not the people's choice for some reason.

I think buying any expensive gadget via direct import especially if it involves freight forwarders is taking a big risk. The Rezound which was also exclusive to Verizon (and similarly broke world records in pixel density upon release) was able to be unlocked for use in Aus but its hardware still couldn't handle SMS messaging on local carriers.

I would buy this unit over a Droid DNA, though personally I would wait and see what HTC announces in Feb about the M7, and any leaks on Galaxy S4. However, I'm not sure I'd buy from this merchant specifically. The warranty statement is a bit concerning.

  • +3

    Expensive with no warranty

    • -1

We do offer warranty from tomorrow for 4% extra charge, Is it selling anywhere in Australia Cheaper?

      • +1

No one charges return shipping for warranty double fail!!

      • You're not in Australia, are you mate.

      • +2

If you were in Australia it would be illegal to sell electronic goods without warranty. That includes grey importers.

In your case, you are operating out of Australia so it doesn't apply to you. However, you also can't expect Aussies to view your establishment as being reputable when you charge for things they expect to get included in the package.

  • +2

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92543 N4 is back at cheaper price and local stock too

  • Too expensive

This guy claims he has Xperia Z stock hmmmm seems sus coz no ones got it? Looked up Woodhouse on Whirlpool here
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2023222 and no longer on whirlpool hmmm sus!
From what i can see AVOID at all costs! Lol at the 4% warranty because thats extra % interest on top his existing interest! Looks like ghost stock to me.
Hey fatrich are you fat and rich like him because looks like you come from hong kong too hmmm seems sus here that you are voting on your own deals.
Stop trying to trick Australians! We are professionals here not amateurs!
