May not be the right time to buy these - especially if the possible upgrades to the range in May

I don't totally buy those rumors. One site made a loose claim and all the others jumped on it with no verification at all. It really doesn't make sense. The tablet is only just out (released Nov 12) and the hardware / chip upgrade that is referenced ias being added isn't out long enough either for it to be implimented and tested (announced Aug 12) and manufactured. While they may show a prototype tablet I highly doubt you will see a new model for purchase in less then 6+ months from now.

If you need a tablet there should be no problem buying a Nexus 10, its good hardware with good reviews, as it is - if you can get one for a good price (ie from Google). If you can wait a couple of months or more then you are not really needing a tablet now and new tech will always tease you on the horizon.

      • Im hanging out for 64 gig and 3g version so i have have an all in one instead of a n7 and n10

        • Same.

New tech is always right around the corner so the waiting game can last forever, but if the current offering doesn't include what you need, there's no point jumping in now.

If you hold off buying something because of potential or coming updates. You might as well never buy anything :)

      • yes but with 4G starting to come out and the nexus having no card slots, might be somthing with most of the current features.

  • Not a freebie, unless you want to give me a free tablet!

  • Please add to title "16GB" as there is also a 32GB version.

the nexus 10 doesn't seem as exciting compared to the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7…

    • Nice screen though…. not really that useful 1080p is better for movies… dual core only seems crazy…

      Although… from wiki
ARM has confirmed that the Cortex A15 core is 40 percent faster than the Cortex-A9 core with the same number of cores at the same speed.

      • Nope, its not always about the number of cores.

This particular dual core is the most powerful processor in the market right now.

      • Although… from wiki
ARM has confirmed that the Cortex A15 core is 40 percent faster than the Cortex-A9 core with the same number of cores at the same speed.

Let's do some maths. Let's say A9 has a speed of 100 units. But you have 4 cores, so 400.

A15 is 40% faster, so 140 units, and you have only two of them, so 280.

Overall, if all cores are being utilized, the quad core is still better.

  • How much is this on Google Play?

    • $469 + Shipping

not a bargain !!! Even though Google Play is out of stock ???? separate question going on there. This is $6 more.

Original price stated is rubbish - no discount.

    • Yeah I agree with you. I hate it when sellers mark up the price and then sell around the actual retail prices to give the impression of a good discount.

but you'd be paying about $20+ for shipping on google play, thats what it was for my nexus7. so in a way it's $14 cheaper

        • Totally agree with popcorn, hence making the total price cheaper than google, and making it a bargain.

    • And dealing with warranty won't be as easy as dealing with google directly

  • If i buy a tablet this will be the one I buy. The reviews for this are awesome. Super powerful.

  • I love my Nexus 10. It's fantastic, however the only downside is the lack of accessories at the moment. There's an official smart cover coming, plus a dock and magnetic pogo-pin charging cable, but no word on when they'll be available. At the moment, it's just slow charging via USB.

  • It doesn't come with a mains charger??

Edit: Err, that was meant to be at mikeypants!
