Bunch of "Flowers" for $4.99 at Aldi

191

I'll be alone this Valentines but I always go out and get dad his roses for mum…
Not sure how many roses in this "bunch" but I assume it is more than 1. I think this is a nice bargain for roses this Valentines.
Other alternatives would be stealing your neighbour's roses, making origami roses or even printing out roses. Whatever your cheap blood desires!

Edit: I'm not sure if they will even be red roses, I remember seeing pink among many other colours!

This is part of Valentine's Day Sales for 2013.

  • Actually the add said fresh flowers, rather than roses - so probably something else maybe?

    Roses are fairly pricey

    • At the Morrabin store near the checkouts I clearly remember them selling roses, red, pink, yellow, all for $5. But I bought myself pink ones since red depicts romance. :(
This was about a month ago though.

  • +12

you will get 70% off you buy them on the 15th

  • +7

can you still return them for a refund within 60 days?

    • +3

I'll give you the $4.99 if you video yourself trying, 59 days later :)

      • I don't see why they wouldn't ???

We will refund or replace any non-food specials within 60 days.
Please provide your original receipt (or other proof of purchase), ideally with packaging.

        • +3

          Well…technically, flowers are edible.

        • Ok, go buy a liquid soap dispenser, use it for 59 days, return it and let us know how that goes…

        • +5

Be careful, I've heard Aldi have a pretty liberal definition of what constitutes food.

        • +2

Indeed, and jv I know you don't mind a stoush, but roses are definitely food. Certain marsupials especially love 'em. Greenpossum - kindly confirm.

        • +1

          Apparently everything is edible….

        • Why the long face?

Edit: that was I reply to joshk - not sure why it hasn't nested. Anyway….

        • True that! There's this Strawberry Watermelon Cake that Black Star Pastry sells. They put some kind of chopped up flower petals all over it and it tastes great. First time I was really surprised, I was like um….are those flower petals???? But yeah….edible.

  • I can steal my neighbours flowers for free! Do teh wimmenz mind a bit of dirt coming out the bottom of the glad wrap?

    • +8

I guess they might if you try and use it as a condom

    • +1

stealing or encouraging stealing is not right……

    • +2

I think you meant "prune" your neighbour's flowers for free. Right ?

  • my local aldi often has white roses at this price, or half dead ones for $2.50(dont know who would buy them though) this is a good deal for valentines i guess if they have enough stock and red roses. i dont much like them myself but i know they can be hard to source, i would prefer something living like a plant or a puppy :)

    • You might be able to pluck the petals from the 'half dead' roses and add them to a hot bath.

  • +1 for being thoughtful and getting it on behalf of ur dad…

    • +1

Which cancels out the -1 for the dad ???

  • +1

    Normal pricing…

    • +2

      You're forgetting it's valentines day

      • -5

It's still normal pricing. They have flowers for that price all the time so don't see a bargain here

  • +5

No one has mentioned that you will be alone for Valentines day, but you won't be alone you will have all your Ozbargain bargains…

    • +4

      Well said.

There's no afrodisiac like loneliness.. Truth beauty and a picture of you ..

      • If someone posts bargains for hand lotion and tissues, then my Valentines day is complete.

      • I see what you did there

    • You could always buy the paper & scour it for ozbargain love ads that were free.

  • +2

I buy flowers from Aldi all the time, they're pretty good quality, especially the lilies. This is in QLD though, not sure about other areas.

  • +3

+1 for helping your dad score

"I'll be alone this Valentines but I always go out and get dad his roses for mum…"

You Sir are a scholar and a gentleman

  • +5

"Whatever your cheap blood desires!" … I will tell the missus about this bargain when i come home, so can she buy flowers herself if she wants them so badly.

    • +1

I'd much prefer a bargain than flowers on Valentine's Day, but if the bargain happened to involve flowers, well, all the better!

  • +2

Not sure whether to give you +1 or -1 for representing "flowers" in inverted commas…
    I'll give you both.

  • +1

Price match at Coles or Woolies? :)

  • Aldi is very good value in general. Thanks.

  • -2

Every Aldi in the Newcastle area has flowers for that price all the time so don't see a bargain here.
Normally gets you about a dozen of small roses that come in various colours

    • have you ever try to buy roses at any other place on Valentine Day?

      • And what makes you think that you will get them at Aldi any easier?

        • +1

the point is: Aldi DO sell these roses $4.99 on/before Valentine Day!
whether YOU get it or not! other people do have their chances!
(and yes I went to local Aldi and they do have roses on Valentine Day!)

this is OzBargain, we all share bargain deal/information here
everyone who post here has spirit of sharing good deal
your -NEGATIVE vote is really inappropriate to the deal itself!
you should apologise to the Original Poster!

  • Will they start to die by tomorrow if bought today?

Tips on how to keep them fresh?

    • +1

      True love never dies.

2 or 3 drops of bleach in the water the roses are sitting in. It apparently slows down the bacteria growth.

My mothers best friend was a florist and that's what she always did. Her flowers looked like a million dollars. Apparently solo fizzy drink also works, not too much (50-100ml). The sugars help somehow. Dunno make about the latter but I can vouch for the bleach trick.

EDIT: Found this in case think I'm fooling around :)
