900

.33 cents per litre. Not a popular drink, but a cheap one. Looks like price until sold out. Not too many cartons left.

Edit: sorry about the late response it's Coles Jamison.

Better grab one for the museum of failed soft drinks.

    • +3

i was just coming in here to write a sneaky comment like that…

  • Which store did you visit?

    • +4

As a frequent customer of Coles Belconnen, I can tell by the yellow strip on the floor that it isn't Belconnen. Begin the process of elimination.

  • +2

Man this drink must taste bad

    • +2

They really just got the ratio of sugar:fake sugar wrong. No one who is watching their sugar intake is going to consider 70% of the sugar against Pepsi Max (no sugar). Plus, compared to the other 'diet' colas, Pepsi Max doesn't taste that bad.

Maybe if they could make it taste significantly more like Pepsi with 30% of the sugar they'd do alright.

      • Good point, i wonder what it would taste like with 70% stevia 30% sugar?

I dont mind the taste of next or max.

    • Yep even the baby tries to tell the young couple in the ad not to drink it :)

  • Yeah which store in Canberra ?

    • +1

      Coles Jamison.

      • +1

all gone at Jamo. Went tonight to get some of these and there are none, but they do have 24 packs of Pepsi Next with 6 bonus cans reduced to $13.

  • +1

It'll be that price until it's marked down again.

  • -2

    horrible taste !

    • +11

Reason is stevia has a bit of bitter taste, and it's also the reason they can't use 100% stevia, but have to mix it with 70% sugar. But that's a fail with people who like the real taste of sugar, and also a fail with people who want nothing to do with sugar. So fail both ways.

      • +5

pepsi max = cola perfection imo

    • Also contains a lot of sodium/salt

  • +5

not horrible at all, normal Colas have far too much sugar, it is a step in the right direction dont mind it at all for when I want a bourbon and cola

    • +7

i personally dont find it has a bitter aftertaste at all

      it mixes fine with whatever

it has a smooth not too sweet taste

i rate it and cant stand zero or max

    • +2

Totally agree. I actually like the 'earthy' taste of this stuff but unfortunately only tasted it for the first time a few days ago so it looks like I may not be able to get it for too much longer :( Thing is that I also like Max, Zero and nearly all other full sugar colas too :)

    • +1

i didnt mind it all. it wasnt the best tasting cola on earth but was ok considering it had less sugar.

  • +5

So the cost is 12.5c a can, in SA you get a 10c return for recycling, so you infact only pay 2.5c a can. Seems pretty cheap.

    I dont mind the drink

    • +5

Bit of a distance to travel though!

  • +4

I actually quite like the drink.

    • +1

If it was available in NSW, I'd be stocking up.

    • Same. I'm not sure why all the hate…

    • Same, I actually like it more than real pepsi and pepsi max.

  • +1

I have never seen Pepsi next cheap here in Adelaide, how come?

    • Coles @ Ingle Farm had it for $8 a carton last week.

      • +5

Why didn't you post it !

        • I did take a photo at the time…..but then forgot to post it :/

    • its available for $2 per 3 1.25 litre bottles in most rite price supermarkets here.

      • actually 69cents at the moment, someone posted it few days back. But cans good for the weekend barbie

  • +2

    Pepsi Next = Pepsi Fail.

Why would anyone who is interested in their health be happy with "30% less sugar", when alternatives like Diet Pepsi, and (more importantly) Pepsi Max exist within their own stable?

I don't want to be "the tightarse know-it-all on ozbargain", but this was bound to fail - almost an impossible to succeed type of product.

PS - if you like thi sprodcut, this is a MASSIVELY good deal - great post OP.

    • +4

because when i drink brown phosphoric acid i drink for taste

max and zero mix like crap with spirits

      pepsi next mixes fine

i dont care about sugar or that because i know its bad so you may as well go all out

    • +2

because those products use artifical sweeteners!! which is worse than sugar.
I like the odd cola, but regular colas do have far too much sugar. would be great if Coke/Pepsi had 50% less and it would still be drinkable!

      • +1

fair point - I stand corrected

        • its also about price

for whatever reason, coke is very expensive

for me, i dont find pepsi normal or next all that different to coke once its mixed so why pay the diffference?

2 litre bottles is as low as 89c from some places

          beats paying $3+ for coke!

        • +3

You have a long way to go if you can't tell the difference between pepsi & coke.

        • la ice/maxi ice mixes well also.

      • +1

Since when was artifical sweeteners worse than sugar? I assume you are talking about its damage to health.

        • -2

search youtube + aspartame and you'll find plenty of information on how that particular (and very commonly used) artificial sweetner is much worse than natural sugars. It's also much cheaper than sugar which is predominantly why they use it I think.

        • +1

Aspartame is no joke. If you value your health and especially the health of future generations then cut that out from your diet post-haste. Along with avoiding BPA.

        • +12

Search Youtube and you'll also find plenty of information on how the moon landing was faked, 9/11 was an inside job, and evidence of the existence of aliens and Bigfoot.

        • cheers for the heads up guys.. people warned me about having pepsi max and coke zero but i just ignored them. after a bit of research, i think i'll just stick with water and have "full strength" coke with the odd fish'n'chips meal

        • +3

My take: There are more serious dangers to be worried about. Obesity, lack of exercise, traffic accidents, etc.

        • +4

If we can trust anyone on this issue it has to be Steve Buscemi.

        • +2

Even the laziest of 10-minute Google searches would uncover more holes in the official explanation of 9/11 than a Brazzer's video.

Unfortunately the truth is not always the neat, little, bite-size, half-hour package presented to you by the mainstream media in between generous heapings of reality TV.

You can discount alternative theories, but after you investigate them for yourself. Not because "hurrr Gub'mint said so, dey never lie, MOAR bread & circuses for the sheeple pl0x."

        • Ah well, as they say, paranoia is its own reward.

        • +4

I think the bottom line is you really shouldn't make any carbonated drink a significant part of your diet.

(I do occasionally drink Coke Zero and full strength Coke)

Starting to be a fan of coconut water now.

        • +1

Coconut water is full of sugar too. Even if it might be natural. Drink water. Ah no, wait there's fluoride and BPA. Arrgh! ;)

        • Steve Buscemi was in my dream last night.

        • +1

Actually READ the information at the link provided.

It confirms Aspartame and Phenylalanine are harmful chemicals. The FDA found this to be so in the 70s when Aspartame was being introduced.

See the doco "Sweet Misery" for all the details. Guess who profited from the eventual "approval" of this poison?
          Donald Rumsfeld.

        • Has about 1/2 the calories of full strength coke. But yes you're right if you like it, it is probably killing you :)

        • +1

RE: SteveBuscemi and your fake moon landing, 9/11, aliens and bigfoot comments - I'll leave those to the paranoid, I'm happy to comment on negative effects of continued consumption of aspartame though, since unlike the aforementioned, this is proven fact.

Aspartame contains many toxic components, the one I like to avoid is called methyl ester, when metabolised by the body it becomes methanol, a well known poison.

But thanks for the negs, ignorance is bliss.

        • Methanol? So how many people have gone blind from drinking Pepsi Max? Must be a huge class action law suit somewhere that nobody has heard of.

        • Drinking a shot of methanol won't necessarily lead to immediate blindness either, but I'm guessing you wouldn't do that? We both seem to agree that bad habits of any kind in moderation is relatively safe, lets leave it at that as this could go on forever.

        • +1

I read this and thought "Challenge accepted!", Surely there would be an Amish doing the Harlem Shake somewhere on Youtube but alas there is not. You win, well played sir.

        • -1

          thats mr pink to you

      • couldnt agree more with you. if. you are going to have a cola every now and then.. have a proper one. artificial sweetners 950 and 951 are worse than sugar for your heath. sorry for downvoting you due to fat fingers… was meant to be a plus.

      • Because I want diabetes and cancer thank you very much.

These days its too difficult to choose between the two, so having both seems like the logical decision.

      • -3

absolute nonsense. Artificial sweeteners have been used for over 100 years with no known harmful effects (with normal consumption). Certainly a better option if you are over weight.

That said, I usually drink cordial instead of soda. And to get a little sugar hit I use mostly zero sugar cordial mixed with just a little real sugar cordial. Makes it taste a lot better and gives a little sugar kick.

  • damn i like this jazz.. for some reason its always full priced where i live. wheres these cheap pepsi next deals in melbourne?!

  • This stuff any good for cleaning concrete?

    • good for cleaning surface rust (i'm not joking)

  • Manuka had them at the normal price…argh.

    • That's probably the discounted price for Manuka

  • Gungahlin store also has them at normal price…

  • I rarely buy cartons of soft drink but at that price I'd pick one up. I honestly didn't mind the taste of it..And I wouldn't go near the stuff full of artificial crap.

  • +1

    Expiry?

  • Canberra didn't take a shine to Pepsi Next it seems, judging from this deal and the 5c 1.25L bottles….

  • .

Shut up and take my money!

    • +1 because I can imagine you going in there and shouting that at the checkout chick when she says "how are you today?"

Made me smile, which is good at 8:02AM. Today's off to a good start, thank you sir.

  • Pepsi Next…..Welcome to the world of tomorrow

  • Fun fact, in the US it has 60% less calories.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepsi_Next

    • +1

The US version uses artificial sweetener (aspertame). The Australian version doesn't, instead it includes a natural sweetener in addition to less sugar (17g per 250ml serving I think). I actually really liked the taste of this drink, moreso than regular Pepsi. Sad to see it go, but there's definitely a market for these mid-calorie drinks with no artitical sweeteners given the hysteria over use of aspertame.

Others have tried and failed producing a reduced kilojoule Cola. It appears customers either want full sugar or no sugar, not anything in between.

  • IGA in Ashmore city has pepsi and associated varieties for 99c for a 2 litre.

  • +2

Pity that Pepsi Next appears to be a flop. I quite liked the flavour and consuming 30% less sugar was an added bonus. For me, Pepsi MAX tastes much too sweet and there's the ongoing question about Aspartame and Acesulphame-K. I wish Pepsi would go Red Bull's route and use Sucralose instead.

  • +1

    Next!

  • doesnt seem to be anywhere in Sydney?
