    shipping?

Thought someone might post this :) Thanks.

JB HiFi actually had the <insert word here> to make a complaint to Hisense & our supplier because we are selling too cheaply. They went absolutely nuts, talk about a big company trying to price fix the market :(

So this is really the "Hisense 39" Full HD JB HiFi have a big cry about it" SALE now :) Aussie market is more price fixed and monopolized than you can believe, big companies are always putting pressure on brand sellers to not support online players or to control the price, the ACCC does little to nothing to protect you. The high end Breville items you see at Big W etc for $150+ (kettles/toasters) we would sell for 60-70% their price however to protect their market that brand refuses to sell to us. Its very common.

@imahippy - shipping to common areas (its a biggish item):

Vic Metro Areas $9.95, ACT $13.95, SA Metro $14.95, QLD Metro $16.95, NSW Metro $13.95, Vic Country $13.95, NSW/SA Country $16.95. Some other major destinations are under $16.95 like Wollongong, Gosford, Newcastle, Ballarat. Other areas refer to our check out (greater than $16.95).

      • Well LG were firm on thier agreement not to supply Costco…. Now there would be 5 LG TV's to choose from…

        • +3

Suffered the same pressure from own suppliers with compliments going to JB and Westfarmers buyers. Thumbs up to eSold for having the balls to say what they did. Got a feeling it's the last time eSold will be buying from Hisense though. ACCC should really investigate this type of thing. From a retailers point of view - its not illegal for a supplier to stop dealing with you if you've priced a product too cheap (as long as they dont say it), just illegal if they did it because you wouldn't sell it for the price they told you to - thats if they'd even ask you to. Usually this sort of promo is met with a "We've changed our business focus..blah blah.." with an off the record "WTF were you doing J* and W* buyers are threatening not to buy from us anymore".

    • Postage to Western Australia Perth? oops sorry just read below

    • +1

Bummer, too busy reading all the comments and this sells out.

  • As I don't want to create an account just to check postage :( …shipping to 6105 please?

    • +2

WA Metro $26.95, WA Country $33.95+ - Competitive for a 26kg cubic item from Melbourne I believe.

  • +12

I will +1 Hisense's in home replacement. I had a problem with a tv of theirs two years ago and it was replaced at home in four hours. I still wonder about how they did it so fast.

  • -4

Nice deal. But 39" is too small.
Now that you're selling Hisense …what are the chances you'll ever stock the 65" Hisense 3D LED?
And at what kind of price?

    • +43

@bargained: Honestly, pretty much zero chances now that JB HiFi have closed off that purchasing avenue. They called Hisense and by accounts given went absolutely nuts about the price. Hisense are unlikely to deal with us ever again now, so we're unlikely to offer another great Hisense offer, so consumers are unlikely to be able to buy another great offer. Thanks JB HiFi! :(

EDIT: Harvey Norman & Good Guys complaining now. These companies hate it when they don't get what they want. Hisense called our supplier and told them to tell us to put the price up, that's price fixing.

Enjoy the great price, plenty of stock left still… and here's the big finger to JB, Harvey & Good Guys - you guys don't OWN the Australian consumer despite your nefarious behind closed doors phone calls and politicking.

      • +3
        • Trouble is if eSold do that -and go to ACCC - not only to the Majors get in trouble, but so does the supplier. Doing such a thing sadly DOES encourage Vendors (Brands) not to deal with smaller often more competitive retailers.

Again I doubt ACCC would do sh*t -as its not illegal not to sell to someone - regardless of the fact (not) doing so is applying pressure to the retailer to increase their prices.

What the ACCC need is discretion - something they clearly lack.

        • +18

If it were untrue I'd certainly be concerned :) It's fair to rip into them when they are attempting to use their buying power to dictate the price consumers get or to restrict options in a competitive market. Anyway I don't think its much of a revelation for most people to be fair Gav.

        • +30

Damn Gerry… i mean Gav, made me log in just to neg you!

        • As an identifiable company rep you should be careful you say, I'm sure JB has more money to waste on lawyers than you.

        • -1

Don't you think Harvey Norman and JB might be pissed of with Hisense for not giving them a deal like this since they have supported the brand for the last few years.

Hisense will never off you a deal like that anymore due to the fact that will ruin a relationship that makes them all the $$

        • +2

@ Gav.. going for the record for the most negged comment?
You personally can always buy from the most expensive retailer if you want, we all prefer the alternative.
What are the chances of the big retailers passing on a deal like this if they had it?? Zero.
Can't believe that they cry like wimpy little sooks when the competition gets hot. Disgusting.

        • +1

No such thing as libel in Australia (perhaps more accurate to say that Australia doesn't make the same distinction between libel and slander that other jurisdictions do). It's all just defamation now.

Also, companies with more than 10 employees cants sue for defamation.

I only add this (to an expired post) because incorrect information on this topic discourages discussion and free speech.

      • So let's say you had a chance of selling these 65" … they retail for $1998 at JB. What would your price be hypothetically? 10% less? 25%? 40%?
You must have a better idea of wholesale versus retail price than we do.

        • +14

Retail $1998 at JB… hmmm… my guess is perhaps they're buying around $1400 exclusive of GST or a bit more, and they'd potentially have rebates for targeting or marketing funds on top of that every quarter or month. If we got it for that price we'd sell it for somewhere around $1649 inc gst or less. The issue would be the size, we'd likely subsidize the freight you pay by $20/$30 to lower the shipping cost as consumers don't like paying $60-100+ for delivery.

I guess as a consumer you guys must wonder sometimes why sites like eSOLD don't also sell much more branded goods at lower prices, the answer is they refuse to supply to people like us, and even Catch Of The Day being the biggest online shopping site can't get supply from some brands, because they have to close off the channel to protect their orders to HN,GG,JB etc… which is not hard to understand but doesn't help the consumer get the lowest price.

When you are, say… Breville, and eSOLD emails/rings and is willing to place an order for a few 100 units of this and that, and they know we'll smash the price even if we're paying 5-10% more than the big boys, you're going to use any excuse to say no in order to avoid cancelled orders, threats of returning 10,000 units of stock etc from the big boys so they can protect their massive margins. This is the exact way the Australian market works. I understand completely why they wouldn't risk major support and orders to support players like us, but at the end of the day is it competition stifling and "fixing" of sorts, and rob the consumer of the widest choice of purchase and lowest prices… YES.

Even if you fight them with the ACCC who are generally completely uninterested anyway, and you win, it is so easy for them to just give you bad pricing with no room for profit or claim stocks are sold out and choke supply, so there is no easy way to force supply anyway. Australia is a globally small market and the major monopolistic players have more than enough turn over and money to control it and dictate to manufacturers and suppliers alike to ensure their shelf prices remain high and companies like eSOLD can't swoop in and offer a red hot deal on a marketed, branded, big store item. Just sometimes something falls through the cracks :)

Hisense have probably cut JB and co a big marketing cheque today to keep their business and avoid the threat of returning all their 32"-39" stock. They won't loose out of this, Hisense will placate them with an amazing deal or marketing fund which will go straight into their pocket and not 1 cent will be passed on as savings to you.

        • alright .. thanks mate :)

        • I bought my 46" LCD from Amazon Germany last year partly because of silly games like this.

      • +5

Ok, side rant, everyone all seems happy to stick it up to the big boys, but I want to put another perspective to this. We have a supply chain that used to be vibrant, but now, every time we remove another link in the supply chain, guess what? Jobs are lost, stores close, etc. That means people will spend less, which then puts more price pressure, that then puts more pressure on the supply chain etc.

It is a negative feedback system which hurts the economy.

While these big boys earn a comparatively large margin compared to online retailers, they employ directly and indirectly a significantly larger amount of people, and obviously, their costs are significantly higher. Their net margin is razor thin at the moment, and it is quite unsustainable.

Just another side of the coin, and I support both sides, but I just wanted to play devil's advocate here. PS: We all need consumers to have more money, and to spend more!

        • +3

I actually think that is a big logical fallacy. It is the same argument thrown around during the beginning of the industrial era. People with vested interest (unions, companies with lower capital, families of workers) were complaining that automation which can eliminate large labor cost and provide cheaper good is going to affect the economy. The problem is that we're basically saying the consumer should subside an inefficient and possibly dying business model. That is a horribly short sighted idea and everyone will lose out in the end, especially in a globalized economy. At the end of the day, a capitalist market does not work on those principle, we wont be shielded from the effects and even if we try to control it, it usually does not end well for a mature economy such as our's.

The result of cheaper good is that as consumers, we will now have a higher disposable income and would still spend elsewhere. The economy will still run. Of course the money might be going overseas but hey, we live in a globalized world; so what we should do instead is have vision and ensure our workforce can not just survive but thrive by moving towards growing industries. Yes, there will be a lag in the market (retraining or upskilling takes time) hence that is why we need to vote for a government that can prepare us for the future, not one that will put on band aids when we are already affected or worse, <MOD Removed foul language> us up in the long run.

Oh and if we are to accept those circumstances you mentioned, we are basically being taken hostage by those huge companies. They hold way too much influence - on the workforce, the consumers, and even government (mining companies anyone?) and everyone will suffer except them.

        • I typed out a whole rant but I think it's not appropriate for Ozbargain. Simple summary is, when there are no jobs, people won't spend. When companies don't get their revenue because of less spending, they will not invest in skilling people up. People in jobs are also spending less because of the fear of losing their jobs - we currently have the highest savings in history.

Deflation is never a good thing for the economy.

      • +3

The irony of this is when Harvey Norman / JB Hifi do their crazy sales (for example, 30% off all laptops, etc) the sale price is actually lower than what the local computer stores can buy it at, so there isn't even a chance for them to match the price.

And yet, here we are with an online retailer selling at a price that is still higher than the retailers' cost, and yet they have the hide to complain.

        • I can't disagree with anything you said sm007h, you are a "big picture" person :)

        • so how many people work at esold anyway

  • only thing is it's only 50hz though…wonder how it would look with sports/gaming…

      • +1

The 50Hz Changhong 50 incher I picked up earlier this week is great for gaming, that's comparing to directly to my older Samsung Plasma which was being a plasma way over 50Hz. I think the Hz thing is a bit of a furphy these days.

    • for the majority of people with a tv at that size, it'll be fine

  • +7

<MOD Foul Language> JB Hi-Fi and Hardly Normal.

Great work, handelbert. :) Too bad it's too small for my taste.

    You should post their whinge-fest.

I hope you people do a massive sale on WD 3TB Elements in the future. :)

  • What's their dead-pixel (or bright-pixel) warranty like?

I bought a VIVO 40" from DSE and had to replace it 3 times (yes, 3 times) before I finally got a good one!

  • Only 1200:1 contrast

  • handelbert, do you know if this tv plays mkv files off a USB?

Cheers and goodluck with everything re JB and the bigger guys, completely sucks.

    • +6

By the looks of the manual and information at hand I think only MPG/AVI, not overly featured media play.

      • Thank you for the reply.

        • +1

Just tested it. MKV plays fine. And I could display subtitles and change languages associated to the MKV file

  • Are there any reviews of this TV online? Can't find jack

  • For those of you wondering about quality etc, I have owned the 46" version of this tv for about a year now and as of yet have not had to make a warranty claim or had any issues.
It's a nice looking TV sitting there while powered off and when in use picture quality is fairly decent. The speakers are not the best as with pretty much all LCD/LED tv's, so we mostly use external speakers. It takes all of the inputs we require, the only slight oddity is that it looks better with our media PC through the VGA port rather an HDMI and 1:1 pixel mapping is selected.

My main bugbear with the TV is the interface, it's a bit clunky and frankly the EPG is just poor compared to playtv with the PS3 (what I used previously).

That's pretty much the only downside. The TV I bought retailed at $800, luckily I got it half price @ 3 months old but I would have paid 50% more than that as there was nothing near the price that compared for size and warranty at the time.

Big +1 on this deal from me.

    • … and I just placed an order for one of these too for the bedroom..

      • I assume it looks fine via HDMI with a PS3 or Xbox? I use an Xbox 360 via HDMI as a media centre extender.

        • Yeah it's fine.

  • great deal on a hisense tv. really think their warranty is great!

this smashes any of their soniq no name brands they have.

  • +3

Logged in to +1 the rep.

This is why Australian's pay too much for electronics. The big boys in town price fix.

  • We have had a 24" Hisense set as a bedroom tv for a few years now and while it has not failed it is not premium quality.. viewing angle narrow, chunky slow epg, etc.. typical for a medium range set. The warranty is good but we have not had to use it.
At this price it is a good buy, much better than dse, kogan etc.
Thanks to the rep for providing a good deal. :-)

  • +6

Don't panic :) We're out of the first lot but there will be more available tomorrow, which will be the last lot. We've had to hold some due to our marketing commitment with Nova 100. Stay tuned! All orders placed today will ship tomorrow unless combined with something still in transit to us.

Thanks for the positive sentiment it feels good to get a win sometimes :)

We've been buoyed a bit by today's happenings to be honest and already have another market upsetting deal in the pipeline for sometime later next week. There's a fair bet though it won't be "Hisense" :D

    • I'm in the market for a 42" HDTV… let me know if anything comes up

  • Postage costs to Darwin?

  • No negative to the deal ~

but I would personally spend a bit extra and get one of the bigger brands (samsung, panasonic, sony etc)

The layout and usability of the Hisense I own, in terms of channel switching / remote / the tv "guide thing" is where they've skimped on to reduce cost and gets really annoying.

I wouldn't buy their TVs again, personally.

    • A lot of hotels I stay at(including this one tonight) have hisense tv's, I won't complain about the quality, it's good. The epg isn't the best but its better than others…

  • How thick is the actual tv? would love to know :)

  • +1

Same thing is happening in Australia with massive markups on fruits and veggies and other every day stuff, due to competition being stifled by the big players. See today tonight story link here: http://au.news.yahoo.com/today-tonight/latest/article/-/1635…

I reckon its about high time we all start to tackle these big players head on and get a fair deal for everyone and a real marketplace not controlled by just a few big players that dictate the terms!

  • Wait till Costcos comes JB

One retailer has since expressed its happiness that there is supplier resentment to this pricing policy: JB Hi-Fi. We asked CEO Richard Uechtritz

think they’re going to have to get a lot more scale then they have at the moment to make any impact on this market,

“We applaud Panasonic and LG for not supplying them with panels.”

    http://www.current.com.au/2009/09/04/article/Costco-TV-disco…

    • But lg are supplying, and the article is from 2009. So much has changed since there.

  • Such a shame I missed out! any change there will be more?

  • Please get some samsungs at these prices'nn

  • I am glad for this deal there is less brand snobbery. The remaining Chinese manufacturers in Australia (Changhong, HiSense, Haeier, TCL) are large enough to give the Japanese and Korean manufacturers a run for their money. More competition can only be a good thing!

  • Just made an order, esold must have added the stock back early. Anyone know how long esold usually takes to ship items (I am in Sydney metro). Can't wait for it!

    • My order has been dispatched already? Wow, that's fast! But it says its being delivered by Australia Post…erm, I shudder at the idea of a LCD TV being delivered by Australia Post! They use couriers right?

  • Looks like they're back in stock.

Excellent find. I paid $1,000 more for a HiSense of the same screen size 5 years ago - without the PVR/USB. Still going strong.

  • Added to cart, put in payment details, got to final confirmation page and SOLD OUT!!! C'MON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised their CMS doesn't reserve stock once it's in your cart. I'm totally a sad panda right now.

    • Same Same ! me slow too

  • +1

Price fixing is illegal and I would love to see JB & HN reported and fined for this

    • You are assuming everything you are being fed is 100% true.

A lot of accusations but not much evidence….well thats the internet isnt it.

Maybe these fellers just get a good deal once and a while.

I've seen Samsung tvs on C.O.D more than once so the big companies are not scared of moving stocks on the net….its a good avenue if you need to move high volumes quickly , but at least with them you get a price comparison but no sermon.

  • Just missed out! Rep, will there be more tomorrow?

  • Op said there will be more stock tomoro, which is today, any idea what time?

    • I think tomorrow was today but 'today' has already passed. Looks like they were in stock early and went out of stock by around 11.00am. Sorry champ.

  • I was thinking about his comments and something didnt add up.

I emailed Hisense and they said that the warranty would not be honoured if purchased through someone outside of their listed partners and I mentioned esold in particular.

I think its time for the rep to pay another visit for a bit more info.

Who is his supplier if not Hisense?

How does he know all the other suppliers pay less than what he sells it for if he doesnt know the price of the 65" , he obviously doesnt have a price listing?

What will the warranty be honoured with if Hisense wont be involved?

    • +3

Because not honouring warranty if not purchased from "controlled" channels is legal in Australia right? Wrong. It is Australian stock from Hisense Australia and they will honour the warranty, and they have no choice - that's just silly.

EDIT: Oh, worth a mention of course, there is no eventuality I can think of whereby Hisense can legally reject the warranty - however you can rest assured that if by some unknown legally binding reason they could do that then eSOLD would certainly assume the warranty. Regardless the buyer gets 3 years, it will be from Hisense - big company got complained at and now trying to worm out of warranty is just… wrong, and won't happen!

Perhaps you can cut and paste the contact of the Hisense representative that told you they won't do warranty because we negotiated a great deal that they signed off on then JB HiFi and co were upset and complained because we smashed the price and now they're trying to distance themselves by providing misleading warranty information with no regard for the consumers that have bought the unit in their eyes.

These big companies will do and say anything to try and control their piece of the market!

      • I am still interested to know who your supplier is though , if Hisense only sell to listed partners wouldnt that make one of them your supplier.

        Just curious?

      • Nice reply handelbert. It seems you have some pretty good ethics and operate quite honestly. :D

  • There are more stocks as of 4pm. Better hurry.

Handelbert, do you have a contact email? Having problem ordering

  • SOLD OUT AGAIN :(
Is that the last of the supplies?

  • Wow wish someone replied sooner? So when's next batch so I can actaully buy one? I'm in need of one :(

  • I bought a Hisense 42" LCD in JBHiFi when LCDs were getting popular. It was about $300 cheaper than the well-known brands. 4 years past and I haven't had any problem with it.

  • its back in stock with 1 hour to go

  • Seems to be back in stock again, dunno for how long. Ordered mine yesterday and shipped out same day.

  • +1

    Well well well.

I actually came on here to complain. I missed out on the initial batch of TVs and missed out on the second as well. After the first batch had gone I entered my email onto the side to get alerted when it came back in stock. But I didn't receive any message and so missed out again.

Then I came here and found someone had posted they were back (thankyou) in stock for at least a third time and so I managed to snap one up. Turned out well in the end but the point remains.

  • Rep or anyone

Ordered one and paid by paypal yesterday late afternoon. How to find out whether it has been dispatched. My order history is still showing that it is under "processing". Thanks.

  • If anyone is still interested. There's a few more stocks.

@Kpet. I ordered mine yesterday 4:30pm. Checked just then and it's now dispatched.

    • Ordered around the same time and I checked just now, still has not been dispatched. Hopefully it will be sent soon.

      Thanks.

      • @kpet can you drop me a private message here with your order # or via [email protected] - we are holding a couple of orders that were flagged as needing verification (anti fraud) and were unable to contact via telephone so far, maybe one is yours - I will check! Thanks :-)

        • don't know why it got hold up. My Order Number: 65091. Paypal has already debited my credit card and all my detail (including phone no.) is correct. Your slaes team Jane R also has responded when I lodged my query on my order on 15/3. Contact me if you need to discuss.

  • So mine arrived a few days ago and I've 'tested' it a bit and can't really fault it. Great value. Very nice.

  • Mine also arrived early in the week. It's a really great TV and the price is delightful. Deal of the year for me.

  • Annoyingly mine is yet to arrive. And these people don't have a phone number..

  • Hi OP, seller!

any chance of getting more in stock?

    • Also interested in one.
