50

Ok all, here's the deal I came up with (and checked it so it works 100%!)

Love AFL, but dont want to pay $$$$$ in Foxtel fees to get all games live + dedicated AFL channel???

Here's the link to the Harvey Norman deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96682
Step 1: Get you a$$ to Havey Norman real quick and get $80 worth of iTunes cards (might need to visit 2 stores as 1 per customer limit applies)
Step 2: Recharge your credit to be at least $80
Step 3: Download the AFL Live App from the iTunes App store
Step 4: Go to the left hand 'settings' tab and go to 'video'
Step 5: Purchase full year subscription for $89.99 (really only $49.99!)
Step 6: Enjoy!

  • Does anyone know if Kogan users can get unmetered since its using the Telstra network?

  • how is the quality when you stream to a HDTV via MHL or TV out?

    • Definitely not comparable to something like NBA League Pass.
It's ok on the small screen of a phone, on my iPad it's watchable but not great. You can't make out the players if they're on the wider camera angle.

That said, I still signed up earlier this year. Hopefully it gets better come the regular season. Or hope they offer HD viewing soon.

Now to list the other one million apple apps discounted with the same process! Actually, for the expensive purchases, this is the way to go.

  • Does anyone know if this will work outside of Australia? Going to be overseas soon and thinking about investing in this and the NRL app for watching games.

    • The AFL one only works in Australia and NZ I believe. Not sure there is such a restriction on the NRL one though.

    • Could always do some ip spoofing. I remember doing that to sign up for Google music.

    • the AFL has a separate service for overseas viewers. It costs $120 per year and includes every game live plus all games on demand.

It has been running during the NAB cup to mixed reviews.

  • can anyone confirm the link to the HN deal is correct? On my phone it takes me to an expired nokia phone deal

    • the link should be correct now

How is this a bargain? Because you are using a different bargain but this AFL app is normal price??
Its either that or we post threads for the whole itunes store

    • I see your point, but I concluded that this was a more obscure bargain as it doesnt come up in the app store directly, you need to go into the app and make an in app purchase to watch the actual streaming. Judge for yourself.

  • Can anyone confirm if I buy the in-app subscription, does it include desktop use of AFL.TV as well?

    • When I last looked, afl.tv was overseas only.

      • I mentioned a new service above, afltv has been replaced and doesn't offer afl anymore

I have to neg because ther's been too much abuse in OZB lately. I wonder why people are so keen to post a deal here, what's the incentive here? I don't mind if it's true deal but some copycat deal like this really put me off!

Also, you got the neg because you fail to do the math, it's $44.99

And if you got an Android device, I show you where you can get this deal even cheaper, check http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95610 use the Telstra credit to buy this deal for only $30

  • Pointless posting. It's like posting that everything on iTunes is half price, all you have to do is buy the cards from HN… No deal here. AFL site is not half price. The deal is via HN, not AFLtv
