  • Hi @easternculture - Correct, currently you do need a Facebook account to sign-up with Yatango. We are currently working to open this up to signing up with an email address. We only use your private information to help make the sign up process quicker, and we only post messages to your activity feed (not timeline) if you give us permission to do so(you can choose not to).

We offer social rewards for inviting your Facebook friends to join Yatango ($20 per friend). We also offer cheaper rates for calling other Facebook friends that you're connected with on Yatango.

It is safe & secure to sign up using your Facebook and we can guarantee nothing will be shared with Facebook unless you give us permission.

The mobile usage is Free - correct the $10 SIM is required. We have updated. Thanks for your feedback.

If you remove the $50 security deposit, you will likely get more customers.

As a prepaid service, nobody wants to have $50 on hold.
Remember that this is ozbargain - if you cant offer us a bargain, you should conduct your business elsewhere. I would suggest a promo code for ozbargain members for a reduced sim card fee , say $5 or something

      • Thanks for the feedback @easternculture.

The $50 security deposit is required for a monthly billing (post paid) service. If you wish to buy a Prepaid SIM service no deposit is required.

        • +1

so you are saying we can get the offer you posted here without the $50 deposit by signing onto a prepay service ?

        • +1

Correct, you're more than welcome to sign up to the trial on a Prepay service - only buying the $10 SIM card.

    i vote negative because:

    1) why do you need a facebook account to sign up with?

2)$50 security deposit sounds ridiculuos. if you want to do a business correctly, why dont you keep the credit card number of your customer that sign up, just like other provider

    3) considering this is a bargain, but only for the 1st month worthed only. customer provide the private details and $50 deposit, which is a bit risky from what i think.
1 customer is $50, then if you have got 100 customer, that means it is $5000, and if you got 1000 customers, that means you are holding customer $50,000 deposit money. from what i see the safest way for us the customer is to provide a credit card details as security instead of $50.

      1000 customers = $50000 earning interest @ 5%pa = $2500 pa profit just on deposits
      10000 customers = $500000 earning interest @ 5%pa= $25000 profit just on deposits

I believe that security deposits legally are not allowed to be used to conduct business but kept in a trust account or something

      great business model buddy !!

Hi @gandihi28152, thanks for your feedback.

As mentioned, if you are not comfortable with paying a refundable security deposit you are more than welcome to sign up to the trial on a Prepay Service.

  • +1

No thanks. Facebook sign-up = no deal.

  • +2

requiring facebook to sign up for a mobile service is stupid. i'm predicting the business model is doomed to failure

Stop paying for more than you need on your mobile!

    I don't think I can use 1000 Voice Minutes + 1000 SMS + 3GB Data within 30 days.
Will a portion of the $10 be refunded pro-rata of what I did not use?

    • Hi @StevieRay - Sorry the $10 is your SIM cost and is non refundable.

The trial includes FREE mobile usage of 1000 mins, 1000 SMS & 3GB of Data as an into offering to try Yatango without having to worry about using too much, and so you can see what you really use a month and create a plan that's right for you; for the following month.

A lot of people are like you and wouldn't really use that full amount, but yet are paying $39 for plans that give you similar usage and you should really be on a lower plan which you can fully customise with Yatango - saving you money.

Gee whiz some people are hard to please.

1000 mins of talktime - I assume to all Aussie mobiles and fixed lines??
plus 1000 sms to Aussie mobiles (?)
    plus 3gb of data

Plus unlimited Facebook, Twitter and a couple of other social networks…

People rave about the $5 and $10 deals for Telstra prepaid with what, 2gb of data?

I guess the big difference is the network?
Yatango uses Optus' network which ain't Telstra but is better than Voda

Can we buy say 12 SIMS and just use this deal on a new SIM each month???

  • Anyone yet bothered drag the slider to reviewing what comes actually beyond the (78 dollar value) "advertised" budget.

It's the customers responsibility to adjust their Pack configuration for the following 30 days (in the Dashboard) before the trial finishes.

A : $6 Voice, NO SMS, NO International, And a meagerly 80 meg data. for '$10'; Cripes.

Or in contrary, were one blind enough to transfer over even a 'security deposit' (postdated ac), then how are the normal structure ($9 per hr national, $50-per-gb optus) not going to be a con? You just have better ensure your Payg bucket contains plenty of funds, or alternatively good luck seeing this 50 dollar returned.

You do get essentially nothing after the trial month (expires), compared with virtually everyone else.

I.e. Use a simple budget & verify at these price points.
vs 10 per 30d (discounted) Telstra starter Encore pack
vs 17 per 30d regular woolowrth mob &3.4GB
    vs 24 per 30d kogan flat-rate mob &6GB
    vs 35 per 30d aldi flat-mob, 5GB +hrs incl. of Int. etc.

  • Now this would be the # 1 (and only real operative, imho) question, but a reply from ya tango - y/n ?

    • Can we buy say 12 SIMS and just use this deal on a new SIM each month???

This truly marks the price point Wholesale needs to look at should it avoid transferring clients to the alternative voice &/ data platforms (for instance, next g flat-rate ) which continue unabated. +1

however, going by previous case law in what occurred in a similar though non-related 'mnvo' (suretelecom), their answer to the using up of multiple purchased vouchers was to refund all concerned. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75686?page=2#comment-105751… 12/10/2012¶

In short, the answer from up high was NO, & therefore the deal, (ongoing) was rubbish.
