Cheap Flyscoot (SYD-SIN Return) Tickets Via 3rd Party Sites eg Aug/Sep (Found Via KAYAK) $343+

80

I thought FlyScoot being a budget carrier would offer the cheapest ticket prices on their web site.

However, after reading this excellent post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/97476 and searching via KAYAK, I notice that SYD-SIN return flights are cheaper to book using KAYAK's search results (via 3rd party sites) than directly from FlyScoot's website.

Eg.
SYD-SIN on 31/08/2013
SIN-SYD on 07/09/2013

  • If booked as one itinerary on FlyScoot's website: AUD 443

  • If booked as separate itineraries on FlyScoot's website: AUD 219 + (SGD 224->AUD 172) = AUD 391

  • Booked via KAYAK (BravoFly): GBP 243 -> AUD 355
    (Click the URL to go to KAYAK search results)

These dates are just random dates I chose and the above pattern is observed for other months as well.

    BravoFly, aren't they related to eDreams? Apparently they can be quite dodgy…

    I may be wrong though, anyone had any experience booking through these guys?

    • Thanks for the warning. Didn't know about them or their reputation (or lack of).

        From what I understand the sites eDreams and BravoFly (there may be others too) aren't like the traditional flight booking websites like Expedia, Zuji etc. Instead what they do is sell the ticket, then after you have purchased it they have to go to the airline and get the ticket confirmed. It's not an instant confirmation.

        So what happens is they sell you ticket for an amazing price then if they can't get the ticket from the airline it just gets cancelled. Not sure about BravoFly but in the case of eDreams I've seen stories of people showing up at the airport thinking they have a confirmed ticket and the airline having no record of them. Also stories of the price being cheap in the original search then creeping up slowly through the booking process and at the end it turns out that after a whole variety of fees the fare is no different to that advertised elsewhere.

  • Seems like a good tip if proves safe. Buy I think I'll just wait for a sale.
    Just back from SIN, KL, etc.
    Flew Scoot GoldCoast-SIN $99 & Air Asia $72 back.

    Just had a look through the brazilian kayak.com.br:

    http://www.kayak.com.br/#/flights/SYD-SIN/2013-08-31/2013-09…

    R763 = AUD$360 with Qantas.

    Sounds good to me.

    • Looks good, but can't really navigate the portugese on my phone to see the final price after tax. Can someone post it up?

      • Google translate FTW

    • no question that Qantas is far better value at that price than Scoot

  • Tarifa por Adulto
    US$ 363,00 = R$ 763,31
    US$ 1,00 = R$ 2,10

    Adultos (1)R$ 763,31

    Encargos de emissão R$ 150,94
    Taxa de embarqueR$ 280,36

    Valor totalR$ 1.194,62

    Not so great once the taxes and c/c exchange fees are added on
