  • Sold out as I was clicking checkout. sigh. oh well.

Argh, missed it. In the market for a new router too :/

  • I was too slow.

  • Got one, and two of the indoor antennas. :) .. hopefully it reaches throughout the house. My stock Netgear CG3000 that Optus provide has THE crappiest firmware on it. No doubt this will enable the use of features & extend my control - just gotta figure out how to set it up when it arrives ;) .. Thanks OP & Flingshot. Awesome, convincing me to unnecessarily spend another $60.00. Looking forward to it!

  • DOH!!!!!!!!

I've been needing a decent router for more than a few months… is there any other decent wireless routers anyone can recommend sub $100?

  • +2

    damn.. i needed a new router…

  • Gosh darn it, got distracted by a colleague.

  • +1

Despite getting one I'm quite disappointed that it has Sold Out as I would have loved to of gone to officeworks for a price beat.

    OW - $179
    FS - $29.70
    OW w/price beat - $28.22

$150.78 off OW original price. I'm an ass like that :)

  • Thanks feel better after missing the Bing lee netgear

  • Rep, anymore of these coming into stock soon?

    • Probably not at this price, this was just a spot deal we grabbed.

      • What price are you expecting them at?

  • computer people, Whats the better? this one or the netgear one posted a week ago for $25 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96719)

    • netgear is better i beleive but not by much but since Bing Lee arent fullfilling orders…

  • +1

    Wow Sold out FAST :D
Thanks for all the +ve, a long time lurker on OZB…1st time poster.

Now its the waiting time, lets hope its the latest C1 version with the 16GB ROM and 128MB RAM. May be flingshot rep will be able to confirm us to that soon. I have updated the 1st Post with most of the info on the DD-WRT for this router.

    • Will let you know as soon as we find out. But until we have them in the warehouse here I can't say it is definitely B or C.

      • Sure it will be great if you can update us all once you have it in your hands/warehouse. Cheers again to the awesome deal.

How about a deal for a Dual Band WiFi Adapter like the DWA-160 or a combo like the Costco one as in the link http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95658

  • Rep - given the popularity of this post is there any chance that more stock may be ordered?

    • Unfortunately the stock was limited, it sold out a lot faster than we expected based on previous router deals.

      • Thank you rep

  • Hey rep,

Informed by my provider that my new apartment does not need a modem and can plug straight in the wall slot to use internet. They said that if I want to wifi it to just plug in a router. Will this do the job?

I got one anyway for the price.

    Thanks.

    • yes. the answer is simple.

      • Thanks heloanand :o)

        Much appreciated.

  • damn missed out. :(

  • Missed out :'(

  • Hi Rep, I have a Billion BiPAC 7800N, I am looking at extending the range

How does it work or can I use it with

    http://flingshot.com.au/products/d-link-2-4ghz-indoor-5dbi-g…

or will I need to buy it together with

    http://flingshot.com.au/products/d-link-wireless-n-150-home-…

    as well?

    Thanks

    • Your best bet for extending the range will be to get the router and antenna and set it up as a repeater somewhere else in the house. But the Antenna will work as long as your current router is 2.4Ghz and has a detachable antenna.

  • If someone could edit the post to reflect that the sale has not expired, just that one item has sold out.

    • Marked Deal as Still Running.

    • But the title should've been edited to.remove references to an an item which the link invites to only to be told it's sold out….

Edit: seems like it was done whilst I typed this message…

  • Guys I bought one an hour ago but just have a question on this deal. For some reason this seems to have gotten more than twice the vote of the Netgear deal from Bing Lee. Is there a reason for this? Im mainly a Netgear user because their stuff looks good so not too familiar with D link. Is the performance of this router much better than Netgear?

    • +1

I don't tend to even look at the cashback deals, for me its to easy for the "sorry it was lost" situations so I look at how much cash I have to part with.

Also I know flingshot will send it out as they have sent out the items in that past. and the rep always seems nice and helpful.

Sometimes it comes down to the shop, not the brand.

    • still havent received my binglee order. Its been 10 days!

    • Can't say about others, but I tend not to vote if the deal has rather contrained availability. In this case, the constraints were:
      * it had to be in-store (by the time I saw it)
      * it was not available in my state
      * would have to go through hassle of cash-back, which can be bothersome and take time to receive

By comparison, this D-Link router is being shipped to me for $29.70 with just a few clicks. Sometimes it's not worth saving money if you have to spend hours to get the deal (at the risk that they might not even have it anymore by the time you get to the store).

  • What version is your DIR-600?

    Thanks FS Staff.

    • +1

      They are B2.

  • Community Service Announcement:

DIR-655 owners, do not upgrade to DIR-825. It is slower than the the DIR-655 and more buggy. DIR-655 is a much higher end product even though it is older. http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/d-link-xtreme-n/4864-3319_7-…

  • Oh poo.. bought one and forgot to add the coupon code :( .. still $19

  • Ok im a little simple, but maybe ive made a mistake? im confused about router vs Modem router. will my laptop be able to connect to this and get online, or will i need something else? sorry?

    • Have you got a modem or a modem+router? Routers are for people who have a separate modem.

      • umm i bought the DIR 600. so thats just a router?

        • Yeah. Modem-routers include the "ADSL" bit. But you can perhaps get a cheap ADSL2 modem somewhere (even secondhand) until the NBN kicks in (which will render your ADSL modem useless). So don't feel bad - I am putting up with a separate modem exactly for this reason: it's only for a bit longer.

  • Hello how can I share my billion w7404vnpx wireless connection with DIR825?

  • -1

DIR 600 looks like its NOT wireless N , only compatible

    standards
    ƒ ieee 802.11g/b, compatible with 802.11n devices
    ƒ ieee 802.3
    ƒ ieee 802.3u
    Wireless freQueNCY raNge
    ƒ 2.4 gHz to 2.4835 gHz

  • I'm SOOO disappointed I missed out on this!

  • +1

Credit to Flingshot, just cancelled my order after i realised the error of my ways.

    Thanks Guys.

  • Would really like to buy a DIR-825 off someone who bought a spare if they don't want it!

  • I missed out on DIR-825, if anyone has spare, i'm willing to overpay by a bit. Thank you.

  • Anyone who bought DIR-825 in WA, and now thinking of changing mind, let me know - I will come grab it from you.

  • the dir-825 seem to be a much better model.
too bad it sold out too quick :(

  • I managed to get one
If anyone wants it, they can have it for what I paid
Located in Newcastle will shop at buyers expense when it arrives.

    Cheers

    • Hello!

Have you had any offers yet?

If it's still available, I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands. Can you provide me with total price including shipping to 3050?

      Thanks.

  • Any news on dir-825 revision?

    Thanks rep

  • Anyone in Canberra needs one let me know as I order one and my friend doesnt need it anymore
    DIR 825

  • How do we track the order? Haven't received any email on this order.

    • I just received an email with tracking info. I would imagine you would soon too if not already. But who knows, it's been eight days since purchase, there doesn't appear to be much of a hurry with dispatch/delivery.

      • Rep said they wouldn't be dispatched until today in an earlier post

        • Yup, Flingshot previously indicated that these would be shipped out today at the earliest: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/97732#comment-1306860

From previous buying experience, Flingshot are very quick to ship things out (same day or next day) if the item is in stock. I think we should cut them some slack here considering the price, the long weekend and the fact that they were upfront about the longer-than-usual wait time…

        • +1

My apologies. Must have overlooked that post. Thanks for the clarification guys!

  • +3

    c1 revision guys!

  • Mine has just arrived!

I ordered 2 but only 1 arrived today.

  • Got my DIR-825 delievered yesterday which is perfect timing as im scheduled to get our fibre for the NBN installed next week.

    • Im prob going to get some hate over this comment but im actually asking a serious question and im not questioning the integrity of Flingshot. Sometimes no one is aware. Question below.

Based on the price, i wonder if its at all possible that the products are fakes and potentially contain Chinese malware, trogans etc etc. Its factual that retailers have unknowingly sold fake, infected Cisco gear.

But on the flip side, would anyone bother creating fake D-Link hardware.

      Just food for thought

      • +2

Since you are asking a serious question, you deserve a serious answer. Please call D-Link and check the authenticity of Flingshot and the products it sells. Going by the extensive range of DL products FS sells (http://flingshot.com.au/collections/networking-d-link), I would guess FS is either a major DL reseller, a major criminal organisation, or a very stupid company. Please report back to OzBargain when you have an answer.

        Tech Support: 1300-766-868

      • @sund00bie. trust me. no one wants to waste their time making fake D-link products. even the original products are really not worth the money somtimes. this deal is not bad though

      • I think this is an interesting question. But consider this: why make expensive dual-band routers to put malware in, when the same people buy flash-drives, wifi dongles, and who knows what else that you can put it in instead?

  • The D-Link 825 C1 has the latest fireware:
    http://www.dlink.com/us/en/support/product/dir-825-xtreme-n-…

    • Go dd-wrt, running latest version on the C1 without any problems

  • Any info which version of dd-wrt to flash on it? Doesn't seem to be any info available for Rev.C besides a testing image which doesn't work, don't want to get it wrong?

  • Thanks got the right image but strangely have no internet access from any clients, I swapped it straight for my dlink dir-600 which had no special configuration and assumed it would work the same.
Had to revert to the old router as it got internet access thru fine but no luck with the dir-825.

    • Have you tried resetting the modem after you plug it into the new router?

      • I've done several 30 30 resets rebooted and installed the latest ddwrt but still no net access. Out of frustration restored original dlink fw and it was fine. Quite stumped the dir615 flashed ddwrt and worked straight off.

        • I spent quite a few hours, and had to do several factory resets to get mine working properly. I have found that when the DIR-825 is NOT the DHCP server (but another router on the LAN is), it refuses to provide IP-addresses to WiFi clients (for LAN all works fine). I have had to make the DIR-825 my DHCP server to be able to use it for WiFi.
While troubleshooting and messing about, the DIR-825 would occasionally disappear from the network completely, requiring me to factory-reset. Not quite Netgear reliability, but it's working now. Very pleased with the deal.

  • Install the latest ddwrt from the ftp download. I have no problems using the version released this month ie April 2013

  • +1

Not sure if anyone is still monitoring this thread, but just for info: I found the reception on 2.4GHz absolutely abysmal, and got less bandwidth on "n" compared to my old wireless "g" (yes, I checked for a free channel). After installing dd-wrt and increasing the antenna gain from "0" to "2" (which apparently it is supposed to be), reception improved by a great lot. So this is something you really should do if you are running dd-wrt on this thing.

  • I do not see a repeater option in the wireless tab.

    any ideas?

    running: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/01/13) std - build 21153

  • Well… my DIR-825 seems to have stopped working… has anyone ever had an issue where the router suddenly disconnected from the internet and refused to connect ever again? I re-ran all the setup after factory defaults but the PCs just don't detect it at all now…

    • Mine just stopped working too! It was working fine for a while and all of a sudden it stopped working, I tried resetting it but none of the ethernet ports and internet port works now.
The LAN ports used to light up(both on router and computer) when connected to a computer, now they don't recognize it anymore.
      What should I do?
Edit: The wireless still works though, but I can't get an internet connection from my Modem, or connect it to my laptop via ethernet cable.

    • did you manage to fix your problem with the router??…mine not working also wont detect ethernet cable.

      • Hi, yeh I contacted Flingshot and they were really helpful, got me to send it back and sent me a new one.
Just contact their customer service and tell them what's wrong.

  • For anyone still around..
latest DD-WRT firmware released 15th April (don't think anyone else has poted it):

  • mine not working anymore, resetting wont work, help!!!
