  • I saw $33.

    BTW is the antenna replacable?

  • where do u add the coupon?

    • +3

Right at the end AFTER you put the payment details in not before. Its weird.

    • +2

After the "continue" screen of Paypal which shows your address details, there is the chance to add the coupon code.

      EDIT: got beaten!

      • thanks @firstpost bekind @make it so.

Firstpost bekind your a cow. sorry its not ur first post any more so im trying not to be kind. :p

        • not this is it:

PayPal gift card, certificate, reward, or other discount
View PayPal's Payments Policy and other policies to learn more about your payment source rights and remedies.

  • Looks good. The coupon code thing is weird you have to get almost to the end before you can put it in.

  • Thanks OP. Was in the market for one, and this seems almost too good to be true. Didn't even bother to check the details - bought it as soon as I saw "dual band N600" :)

Hope it's not a pricing error, given that it's normally 3 times the price.

    • Haha, same. :)

  • to the techxperts out there.. I have a Billion 7800N at one end of the house, but have cat5 running to other end.
I assume i can plug this into cat5 and set it up as a range extender or access points somehow ?

This is a very powerful router at a great price!

    8MB Flash - Allows mega-sized builds of DD-WRT.

64MB RAM. Most routers typically have 16MB

    Dual-band with gigabit ethernet

680Mhz CPU. That's really fast - Typical home routers are 200-300Mhz.

    It's $85 at MSY!

    • 2nd that. Got it for a promotional price of about SGD $150 (~AUD $115) 3 years ago and loaded DD-WRT on to it.

    • +1

That's the older revisions, I'm guessing you would be getting the latest version?

      AR9344@550Mhz
      128MB
      16MB

      • +1

Wow. That's a substantial upgrade for a lower price as compared to the B1 revision I own. At this price, I don't see any reason to hold back.

Rep, is this the C1 revision?

        • +1

Unfortunately we couldn't confirm the rev.

  • what version is this DIR-825

  • Wow, great deal. Also hope its not a pricing error. $133 maybe?
    Ordered anyway… thanks OP.

  • Great price, bought one. It says: In Stock 4-5 business days. I guess that is roughly the same as: Products will start shipping 02/04/13. There are other products too.

  • +1

For those saying this might be a pricing error, I doubt it; Flingshot sent these out prices in an email this morning. Their own email calls the DIR-825 an "incredible price".

But I'm sure their rep will be along soon enough to confirm. :)

    • Thanks, that makes me feel better.
It has to be below cost at the price, including shipping.

  • impressed with the price, grabbed one, thanks for the heads up :)

  • I dont even know if I can use this or not with my Exetel but my current one is getting useless, so just ordered one and hope it works . Thank you.

  • +1

Awesome deal, great mind, thanks OP :)

  • +18

Just to clarify a few things, definitely not a price error. We would usually be shipping these out Friday but due to the public holiday they won't get picked up until Tuesday. We just had to jump on the deal though so hopefully the wait will be worth it ;)

Also in Regard to DD-WRT we have not tested these yet as the stock is not here, but my research indicates that both revisions (B1/B2) are compatible and there don't seem to be any weird revisions out there that would not work. Until we actually test them though I don't want to say yes.

The coupon issue is definitely a pain, we should have this resolved soon though (I know we have said that before) it is due to the paypal gateway we use unfortunately.

Any other questions post away I will do my best to answer them.

Also today is the last day of our Synology NAS sale.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/97392

  • bought one. hoping it to arrive before april 10.
@flingshot, can you show some detailed specification on this item? http://flingshot.com.au/collections/clearance/products/2gb-d… thanks.

  • So I can have a normal External Hard Drive and plug it into the USB (SHAREPORT) on this router and now its a NAS?

    • Yes but expect slow performance especially writing to the USB.

      • How slow is slow?

How long would it take me to send a 4gb files to the Hard Drive?

Would it be good speeds to play a movie?

        • I was getting 5MB/s writing to an external HDD. This is the same write speed as an USB2 flash drive. I gave up after that.

  • +2

No idea whether this is good or bad. I really don't need as my existing one still going great for last 4 years.
Still OZ bargain said this is good and cheap. I was sold. Same as most other unnecessary things I bought in here :)
It better make some improvement from my current Billion router.

  • Can this be used as a repeater for an existing wireless signal?

I have a WRT54G set up with DDWRT that repeats a wifi signal in my house and runs another SSID.

    Is this possible?

(i know some routers even with DDWRT won't allow this due to hardware restructions?)

  • Update : The Revision might be the latest C1, though store rep has not confirmed anything.
Even C1 is DD-WRT supported. Download link as below :

    ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/…

  • Does anyone know if I can use this as an extender together with my D-Link DIR-655 (which is my main one)? Sorry, quite a modem/router etc. noob. I can see there's a post above posting how to use it as an access point/switch, but I'm unsure as to whether there are any restrictions with other routers.

This does look like an attractive price. Or maybe I can get it to just simply replace my DIR-655. I wonder which one is better?

      • That's exactly what I linked to..
Trying to see what the benefits of linking two routers together are. Googling doesn't give me a straightforward answer. I think it seems to help you extend the range of your Wifi?

        • +1

Yer thats it but you can also use the free ports for Ethenet units

      • Thanks but this says to connect it to the same d-link router for this to work, can you connect it to any?

        • I have a D-Link not this model connected to my main Modem / Router which is a Belkin and it works as a range booster and I have my Blu-Ray player connect vis ethernet

  • +1

The rest of the item links are here if someone can add them to the main post that would be great.

    $17.10 DIR-600 http://flingshot.com.au/products/d-link-wireless-n-150-home-…
    $17.10 ANT-0501 http://flingshot.com.au/products/d-link-2-4ghz-indoor-5dbi-g…
    $169.20 DIR-865 http://flingshot.com.au/products/d-link-wireless-ac-1750-dua…

    • Added to the main post.

      • Thanks!

  • grabbed one, thanks flingshot.
I just remembered that I should have $5 credit from this post (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80730) and forgot to email you guys. Can this be applied to my order (#8288) ? :D thanks

    • +2

Shoot us an email, we can sort it out for you.

      • email sent, thanks so much

  • Anyone know if this can be a repeater to a Netgear N600? Cheers guys!

    • Should work fine if you are comfortable installing 3rd party firmware.

      • Okay sweet, firmware for this router or my netgear router?

Can i repeat off two of these to extend the signal or not possible?

        • Yes you could chain them together, how far are you trying to go?

Best bet would be having both routers running DD-WRT but it is not strictly necessary.

        • one room to the end of the other room..signal of my netgear reaches half way barely…

          oh ok i see

  • bought 2, thx flingshot!

  • Thanks. ordered.

  • REP: any deals on suitable USB WiFi dongles that go with this dual band router?

  • ordered one too! cheers

can anyone recommend a good ADSL2+ modem to go with this? I'm with internode and about 2KMs from the exchange.

    • Draytek Vigor 120?

      • Why do you need a separate modem with this one for ADSL2+. I thought this one device does the job for both modem and router. Am I wrong?
If so I can not throw away my old Billion router :(

        • You are wrong. This is a router only, no modem.

        • u can use your current Billion modem/router in bridge mode then :P

        • In that case I want to use this as a range extender. Still don't want to run a physical network cable from existing one to this one.

  • +1

Would this be a good replacement for an old Linksys WRT54G 10/100 54mb wireless router I am currently using. I am also looking at this for the USB function so I can share a printer without having to leave one of the computer turned on all the time.

    • +7

Realistically a tin can and a string would be a good replacement ;)

This will work well, and the vanilla firmware supports printer sharing, though tbh I have never found printer sharing through a router to be very reliable…

    • i'm also going to replace my WRT54G2 with this, need a new modem now!

  • +1

Runs Gargoyle firmware also. Excellent for bandwidth management.
So I got one though I don't need one - typical OzBargain story :)
    Thanks OP and Flingshot!

    • +1

OzBargain helps the economy going. Government doesn't need to bother giving any centrelink rebates to boost the economy. OZB is doing that job in the bad time in retail market. :D

      • +1

OzB hardly brings the retailers any profit, only revenue

        • +3

Keep the economy ticking is totally different from making profit in a down market.
The best example I can give is:
Once I wanted to buy a side by side fridge. I just called and asked for a deal from 2 stores in the same chain. First one said the price I asked was very close to their cost (cost of the item + overheads in storing the item) and he refused to give it for that price. Second store said there's not much profit in that price but he'll still offer. So I ended up buying from that store still being little bit further from me. (demonstrating OZB spirit ;) )

I saw the first store shutting down one year down later and the other one is still operating.

Not all the customers ask for deals. You sell for cost means you pay the salaries, bills and keep operating. If the stock don't move, you close in couple of months.

  • Awesome deal - picked one up.

Can anyone recommend a 5Ghz wireless adapter to go with it?

  • Great deal i neede somthing with Gigabit ports as my current Belkin Router only has 100Mb and it is a bit flakey at times.

  • Almost cheaper than a Gigabit switch alone, and consider DD-WRT on 64MB RAM a bonus.
    Thx flingshot!

  • Any good adsl2+ modem bargain available at flingshot?

  • Also OP, do you claim this router is 802.11AC?

"DIR-825 for $29.70 AC is the best one out. Grab it fast."

    • +1

      AC is after coupon.

    • It clearly says its N. AC would be a completely different price point. The AC here probably refers to power (AC/DC)

      • AC/DC lol, lets rock.

  • didn't get any of the routers etc, but noticed you now have the DB01 Crybaby from hell for $164
had to snap one up at that price!

    • Nice pedal!

  • +1

Still running a 100mbit switch. Is it worth buying this just for the gigabit ethernet ports? Seems wasteful…

    • IMO only if you transfer gigabytes of data on a regular basis, e.g. at least weekly.

  • Got one. Thanks OP and flingshot

  • I don't know much about networking but can I ask what is the difference between the 825 and the 865 ? Can you still share files between computers with the 825 as long as you have a shared folder ?

    • Different standards, AC is the latest standard and is faster but your devices will not support it yet most likely. Good if you want to future proof though as newer machines will start coming out with AC built in.

  • Sold out

  • SOLD OUT!! NOOOOOO was just about to buy……

    • You are not the only one :(

  • damn DX

  • +2

Rep, are we able to get it for this price when the item comes up again? Would really appreciate it if you could work something out for us!!

    • Unfortunately it is very unlikely.

  • Was really keen to jump on this deal, but some quick searching has turned up some very average reviews, particularly from users:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/d-link-xtreme-n/4505-3319_7-…
    http://www.cnet.com.au/d-link-xtreme-n-dual-band-gigabit-rou…

But the price is so cheap I'm almost willing to look the other way…

    • +3

We planned for this. Will be emailing anyone who had an abandoned cart in the last few minutes before it sold out.

      • I have it in my cart.. and it's still sitting there. I have a screenshot of it too :(
