FREE Downloads on VideoBlocks for 7 Days (Rego + C/C Required)

74

VideoBlocks emailed me recently giving me a 7 day complimentary trial to download 20 files a day. I did it and it works great. They have fantastic stock media (sound effects, video clips, looping backgrounds, etc.) Otherwise it is $948 p/ year subscription.

WARNING* Requires registration (free) and then requires Credit Card details. This is so if you don't cancel your subscription within 7 days, they will charge you $89 for the next month. As long as you cancel within 7 days, and you download all your files within that time, it's lots of free goodies!

Let me know if it works for anyone else.

PS, this is my first post, and I'm not a store rep.

<MOD> Warning - read this comment regarding possible scam.

This is not free, since credit card data is REQUIRED

    • Yup, too much risk involves. Better stay away people.

I did say in the description that you have to cancel before 7 days are up. I just used it for one day, downloaded what I wanted, then simply cancelled my subscription.

Supplying credit card details usually means one of two things:
1: they are charging you with some kind of transaction, or
2: they will charge you unless you cancel a subscription.

If you don't trust yourself to cancel within 7 days, then this is not for you. For people who know how to use alarms on their phones, go right ahead.

Anything that requires a credit card on signup is a risk that MUST be avoided, well at least on Ozbargain

      Ozbargain = risk free freebies

    Don't do this.
I did cancel on the 6th day ( just to be safe) and I was billed for a full year TWICE.
Yes, they charged me double, even though I cancelled.
My credit card provider refunded only one yearly subscription amount.
VideoBlocks insisted they only charged me once, even though I had the CCard statement, and I had cancelled during the free downloads period. They said I re-activated the account. Total bollocks.

    STAY AWAY PEOPLE.

    • thanks for advice mate :)

    • Anything FREE that requires credit card is going to be a problem. Why would you ask fro a CC for something free, unless your intention is to mislead people.

    • Thanks for the advice. I nearly signed up for their 7 day free period … they have some nice stuff on their site (and compared to others it is cheap) … but when they cause so much trouble with the CC is not great. I usually have no trouble entering my CC details (and I remember to cancel) - but when I hear that somebody cancels and you get charged even twice … sounds not great. Some subscription services have a paypal option … this is very nice as you can check your status on Paypal and can cancel it with Payapal … much safer … :-)

I do not vote positive or negative. (It would have voted positive as it sounds like a good deal … but hearing these stories puts me off).

  • I actually agree that this company is misleading and dangerous. And the reason I put this up was because it supplies unique stuff.

As for macamaca, you are scaring me… but I cancelled after 2 days just to make sure. I will email them as well to receive confirmation.

Yes, this is a risk, and I'm sorry Ozbargainers if risk is not an option for you

    Best way to avoid scams,

Buy a prepaid Visa/master card from Post office/safeway, charge it with small amount of money

    sign up for subscription

use the whole amount on your Prepaid card within a few days

    cancel your subscription
