  • I'm not a huge fan of the colour scheme however for the price I may overlook it.

Big thumbs up for Windows Phone 8.

The main issue is 4gb memory, and after win8 os maybe we can inly use 3.25gb for apps, win8 cant install apps into sdcard.
But for light user that need a phone this will be cheap and fine phone.

    • which means no games. Last time, many HTC 8S turned to bricks during official updating due to the lack of storage for firmware files.

    • Wow that's a major flaw.. Too bad

  • Is it quadband 3G phone?

    • 3G/HSDPA 850 / 2100

  • doesnt look like it

    Network Support 2G 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G/HSDPA 850 / 2100

  • site is stuffed !! Can't create an account. Just hangs than after 10min says "can save customer"

    It's a great phone

Amazingly light and the battery lasts for days. Windows Phone 8 is also a very smooth operating system

  • Hi mobileciti, any chance of a deal on the Nokia Lumia 820? I'm looking for an Australian stock unit of these, but so far all the prices I've seen are at least $200 more than a grey import.

    • I am also interested in Lumia 820.

  • Really great price and i am tempted… but the issue with the internal storage (not being able to save apps on SD) is a turn off… hmmm

    • I know everyones going to hate me for this but it was probably a strategic move on Microsofts part. They didn't want people to just buy the small phone with 4-8gb of storage and use SD cards rather than buy a top end phone so they allowed people to use an sd card for say movies or music and files but didn't allow them to install apps on it.

There was probably no way they would let people use their sd card for that in the first place so I'm happy they added the sd card option just for movies/music anyway!

  • I buy from Mobileciti all the time (for work), mainly because they are Australian stock, prices aren't always as competitive as say Kogan but that's understandable when talking Australian stock, compared to other Aus stock they are very well priced.

My biggest gripe about them in my case is the shipping costs can get ridiculous when you order multiple phones, $44 to do aus post shipping for 5 phones is a bit much (parramatta to north sydney). Other than that if you can go and pick it up at the shop its a great buy and good service.

Improve shipping costs and you'll get my full endorsement! :)

    • Hi, scud70

Thanks for your feedback, we will improve it soon!

Does anyone mind telling me how this compares to the Samsung Galaxy S2?
I don't use a heap of apps, mainly gmail and facebook, so app support isn't a huge problem.

I have a brand new S2 sitting here that I got for $200, and not sure if I should keep it or sell for a profit and go the HTC (bit tight on cash right now so the profit would be handy!).

The 8S is a good phone for the price, but step down from the S2 IMO - check the specs @ GSM arena. If you want just a basic smartphone the 8S will be fine.

      • u don't need much specs for gmail and facebook.

    • The Galaxy S2 probably has a better camera and more internal memory, but that's about it. Android requires a lot of specs to run properly while Windows Phone doesn't, so I'd rather go with the 8S if I wasn't too fussed about the camera.

S2 is a much much better phone than this one. They are popular for a reason. The support that s2 got from xda is amazing so you can get major updates easily.. better processor camera screen memory drive capacity etc..

You will get much better support on some essential apps as well like whatsapps and viber or some other games or functionality.

Current official version for s2 is jelly bean which is very smooth and support lots of good google function which you cant find on windows equivalent. Things like you tube apps gmail maps google drive and even other specialtiy apps like google translate and snapseed is not available on windows platform which is a deal breaker for many.

Many simple things still broken in windows phone platform. Things like volume control and missing notification oersistant wifi and persistant download on the background as well as media sync still a problem in the platform. Many other things still a problem which if need fix you will need to free up lots of space otherwise you can brick your phone

  • Seems like a good deal. This one does not have Amoled screen, right? What's the viewing experience in bright sunlight?

    • It's got a Super LCD screen. From reviews it's seems to be OK in sunlight

  • Does it support multiple language, just as the Lumia 920 does?
    Cheers

  • I am with Virgin Mobile. I am about to buy this phone….but a friend says this is not compatible with Optus/Virgin….is that true?

    cheers
if not any method to unlock it?
