Great as a hangover cure :)

    • +4

not really, you'll just feel like shit while being well hydrated :p

  • Cheers!

  • Was this ever called Gastrolyte? Or is that something different?

    • +2

it's a different solution. hydralyte has 15mmol/L less sodium and therefore considerably more palatable

How is this better than just making your own?

Because when you got the shits, the last thing you think about is saving a few cents. Or trying to measure shit in a glass. Never thought I would say that :o

      Just make it stop!

    Yum.

  • i buy this anyways from chemist warehouse…

i mainly take it after big workouts where i sweat and drink alot of water.. without it it can be dangerous and you could get adema in the brain.. stuff like powerade isnt enough.

unless you really need it, ie dirinking 8 liters of water a day, i wouldnt worry about this……

i prob wouldnt use it for dihriah.. but eh

    • I wonder if this is useful for long bike rides like a 100km+, but then on the bike you tend to drink lots before and during.

  • Hydralyte is the most awful stuff I've ever tasted. Had it in hospital when I was sick with a gastro, it immediately made me throw up :\

Blackcurrant and Apple >>>>>>> Orange Flavour

      • Yep Orange is way better..

  • +4

I don't get all these people who threw up after drinking it. If that's what's happening after consuming this product, there's definitely something wrong with YOU and not the product, and you need consult your gynaecologist to have your vagina tested.

  • does this work for hangovers?

    • not really, best to drink more of what you had the say before for hangovers

  • +1

We've trialled many brands at my work, and Hydralite and Shotz are the only two that are relatively universally accepted. Hydralite is a stronger flavour and tends to polarise people (I like orange, hate blackcurrant). Shotz is milder and less polarising. We've also looked at the ingredients and those two seem to be the best but I can't remember why (lacking something unnecessary that's in the other ones maybe).

  • iirc there was a study that showed that the best thing to drink when you need hydration is milk. Better than all the electrolyte glucose drinks.

    • Skim milk actually!
Less bloated feeling. Less fat content.

  • Always carry a few of these around in my first aid kits, they are handy for many things, and that one time you need one, it can really save you from a lot of issues.
