Up to 30K QFF Points for Joining Qantas Life Insurance Approx $17 Per Month. 60 Day Minimum

3630

Hi All,

Stumbled across this deal where if you sign up to Qantas Life Insurance and also add another service such as total disability cover you can get 30,000 points on sign up.

What I did was put the lowest possible cover for Life Insurance which was $100,000 and then the lowest possible for Total Permanent Disability Insurance and the total came to $16.87 per month.

The best thing about this is that the 30,000 QFF points are credited after 60 days, so essentially you are looking at 30K points for around the cost of $34.00.

T&Cs simply state:
1 Policyholders will earn 10,000 Qantas Points for purchasing one Qantas Assure Life Protect Insurance and 30,000 for purchasing two or more. Qantas Points will be credited after the policy has been held for 60 continuous days. Not available to existing Qantas Assure Life Protect policyholders.

When I change my policy cover the bonus points remains the same, so I only assume they will provide the points to you after 60 days, does not mention anything about a minimum specifc for coverage.

Good luck all and have a play around with the various types of minimum cover to see if you can get it cheaper.

So Many question.. .. I stopped in the middle…

  • +1

Was anyone able to purchase the Life Insurance?

  • Lowest TPD & Life Insurance, other than occupation, answerred everything honestly. $7.66 pm.

I believe we can also unlock Qantas Assure points for purchasing this. Anyone can confirm?

    • what details did you use (no need to tell us the exact figure, just a range)?

      • 20s, average salary, mostly no's, gym, 10% bmi discount. What else?

  • +1

got it for under $10 a month as a 36 yr old office worker

so $30 for 30k points is worth it - thanks op!

    • Lol WTH, how?

EDIT: Ok i see how :)

      • You do at screen 4/5 before payment. Allows you to adjust the figures from there

      • +1

so chose non smoker, 1-20 units of alcohol per week with no to everything else and less than 10% manual duties in job

then tweaked on the final page before purchasing to get the amount down with 100k on insurance and 100k TDP

        • Thanks for tips guys :)

  • +3

jesus I return from lunch to 80+ comments.

Further to my application, I got a follow up call from a rep from Assure, who confirmed everything with me and that I would get the 30K points after the 60 days which is fine.

Seems to be a new product they are offering in conjunction with the Assure Private Health. She was hell-bent on getting me to download the app to earn more pts.

    • thanks for the update

    • +1

Yes I think can get extra points from Assure App.

So do we need to be on the cover for 3 months or 2 months (ie cancelling the last day of the 2nd month)?

    • +1

How many more points do you get with the app?

      • +1

        up to 3000 pts.

I got 500+ during 30 day free trial so I'd say approx 800-1,000 over the 60 days.

        • Did you have to do anything or just install the app?

        • You get points by achieving your daily, weekly step goals etc.
I don't think the free trial is still on and therefore once your insurance is on, the app should start unlocking the points.
Mine's locked now because I assume it takes a few hours/days for the app to know an insurance has been bought.

        • @tajid: Yea, I managed to get close to 700 points during the trial period and almost 1.3K (locked points) which is pretty nifty. Will take a look at this to get the 30K, definitely less huffing and puffing.

        • @tajid: Interesting, so free points for doing dailys. I'm in!

        • @Shuey: Deleted the app once the trial ended… Should've kept haha if I knew I was going to buy the insurance.

Then the later you buy the insurance the more days you can unlock at once, no?

        • @HarveySpecter:

Harvey, just stay being a lawyer, I doubt you'd get many steps done daily! :)

        • @tajid:
AFAIK, when locked you can accumulate up to 3,000 QFF points which will be unlocked upon you buying the insurance. I believe as long as you have the insurance policy, the QFF points will continue to tick over. 150 points a week (walking + cycling) isn't too bad

  • +1

euhhh, Qantas should focus more on their flying arm, and not just the usual cost cutting stuff ….

    • The margins in Australia for insurance are pretty juicy, hence why they're pushing Assure so hard

  • I'm just wondering how many hurdles you need to jump through to have this policy cancelled on the 60th day. Remember you have to cancel before you get billed the third month!

Edit: looking at the post above it seems like you need seven days notice for cancellation so you'll be paying a minimum of three months. In my case the minimum spend is $30, so effectively $1 buys you 1000 points.

  • Thanks OP, on it. Great price for the points.

  • Sorry NAME, it appears you are not registered for the Qantas Assure Life Protect Self service portal. If you recently purchased a policy, we would like you to know that it may take up to a day to complete your policy registration. Please try again later, or if you think it takes longer than expected, please call us on 13 49 60.

Who else gets this message when trying to login to the assure page?

    • I did. I'd wait a day.

    • If you recently purchased a policy, we would like you to know that it may take up to a day to complete your policy registration.

  • Any mention out there to say if there is a cancellation fee if I leave on day 61? Would hate to be charged a 2 year cancellation fee!!

  • +1

for anyone interested the cancellation date 60 days from now is May 7th

    • the phone lines will be super busy that day! (unless you can cancel online?)

    • Not 6th May?

IF cover starts today 8/3 then 6th May is 60 days from now (2/5 is 56th day). No?

  • +1

Got mine down to $7.90pm for 30K points.
Happy to pay the 3rd month at this price to ensure the points are deposited to my account.

  • +12

I would hate to be working in retention on the 8th May…

Poor employee's stats will be horrible from the mass hordes of ozbargainers cancelling.

  • +2

Cheapest I can get mine to is $7.55 with life insurance + TPD, all legit answers and excluding illness cover and sports cover. Also got 10% discount for healthy BMI. Thanks OP!

    • Cheapest so far I think….

    • When/where is this question about BMI asked?

      • +1

About you. Before you are asked if you suffer certain illnesses etc. It'll ask your height & weight.

      • +2

They dont specifically ask BMI. They ask you weight, Height & age in separate questions and thats how they calculate BMI

  • thanks OP! Anyone getting stuck at the purchase page? Everytime I click Purchase Cover it just refreshes this page. No emails, no charges. Just nothing!

    • Don't click to many times next thing you know you have multiple Cover

    • +1

Mine went through to the confirmation page fine.
No emails or anything yet though.

    • I had the same problem, had to complete the purchase over the phone.

  • Nice one!

  • Thanks OP, I fiddled for quite a bit following the same steps as many others here, $100k Life and $100k TPD, all options removed, answered No to everything, young early 20s working professional - got my number down to $10.21 per month, and approved on the spot. Cheap QFF!

    • WTH you didn't get a call back? Lucky!

    • +2

Did you get email confirmation? Never got mine.

      • I just got the "Welcome Pack" email this morning, about 16 hours after the fact.

  • What happens if I already have life insurance through my super? Can I double insure myself?

    • +1

Yes you can. They do not need to know you have 2 policies. You would want to cancel this policy after 2 months anyway if you are just after QFF point boost

      • Thanks. Got mine for $7.56/mth. and my wife for $6.71.

  • got it down to $8.07 per month. Thanks OP

    • $8.09 per month. Can't be stuffed playing around it with anymore. $24.27 for 30,000 points is good enough.

      • why $24.27? I thought 2 months premium is enough to get the points.

        • +2

you need three months because there is a seven day cancellation notice.

  • +1

Anyone get an email confirmation yet?

    • no email confirmation apparently.. chatted with their agent and told me welcome pack will be mailed within 3-5 working days

    • I got about 3 confirmation emails after I did mine over the phone. Took about 20 mins to do and half an hour to come through

  • Hi guys, I'm actually in the market for some life and income protection insurance. Does anyone actually use Qantas Assure for insurance purposes =)?

    • +16

All of us here do.. for 30K Qantas points ;)

      • +1

My Santa's Little Helper has life insurance as well now. Now just needs to transfer his points across to me

      • I guess you get what you pay for ie. POINTS!

  • Only able to get it down to $11.85 using the lowest life insurance and trauma. 21 and in retail, non-smoker, healthy BMI. Wonder what's preventing it from going down further? Hard to complain at this price though.

    • you have to adjust the costing on screen 4/5 before payment.

      • Yeah, I did that and got rid of all the extra cover and reduced the payout to minimum, that's how I got it down to $11.85.

  • Got my premium down to $12.73 with only Life insurance and TPD insurance active

I'm 29 and accountant as occupation. How did you guys get to $7 premium?? lol

The life insurance is costing me $7.23 and TPD is costing me $5.5

    • +3

At page 4, go into Options for each insurance and tick only Accident Cover

      • +1

        HAHAHAHA

        You're a legend mate!!!

        $7.55 now LOL

        Cheers.

        • +4

Surely a successful New York lawyer doesn't need to scrounge for QFF points?

        • +2

          @haydent: I don't think anyone got the SUITS reference …. :)

        • @shiraj: Pretty sure allot of people did ;-)

  • +1

Got it for $8.07 per month and was accepted immediately.

  • +1

Does cancelling a life insurance policy have any knock on effect when you do decide on to get life insurance later in life?

  • Seriously, is putting down 0 units for alcohol too big of a lie? But then again I'm here for the points anyway lol, I'm not going to claim regardless

  • I got my LI and TPD down to $6.58

  • Dang, gotta pay $90 to join QFF. That pretty much kills the deal for me.

    • +1

Nah, plenty of sites here that allows you to join QFF for free. I'm sure someone here knows how and will post it. I don't know it on top of my head :(

    • +2

No you don't, its free when you click the link:

Please continue as a guest and if you join Qantas Assure, you'll receive free Qantas Frequent Flyer membership - saving you $89.50

  • +4

    Purchased. Thank you OP

Thanks for choosing Qantas Assure Life Protect.
Your application has been successful and soon you'll receive a digital copy of your Welcome Pack with details of your cover, that you'll need to check and confirm are correct.

Anyway to confirm if the 30K points is part of this deal once you finished signing up?

They accept AMEX to, so 1.5 points for the $7.55 premium per month. :D

    • software engineer

      $50,000 salary

Is that your real salary or did u purposely lower ur salary to decrease the premium?

      • i am an accountant and this is not my actual salary. just wanted them to feel sorry for me :)

        • well played, well played indeed.

    • lul you weigh 70cm.

  • Thanks OP. Got mine for $6.42/mth. I took Life Insurance and TPD with min. cover $100k each. Like other people have mentioned, on Page 4, remove all the extras to leave only Accident Cover for both policies.

    • Accident cover isn't an option for me under Trauma Insurance, only Critical Injury Cover which is $7.80 per month making my total $11.30…can't seem to go lower than this.
