Up to 30K QFF Points for Joining Qantas Life Insurance Approx $17 Per Month. 60 Day Minimum

3630

Hi All,

Stumbled across this deal where if you sign up to Qantas Life Insurance and also add another service such as total disability cover you can get 30,000 points on sign up.

What I did was put the lowest possible cover for Life Insurance which was $100,000 and then the lowest possible for Total Permanent Disability Insurance and the total came to $16.87 per month.

The best thing about this is that the 30,000 QFF points are credited after 60 days, so essentially you are looking at 30K points for around the cost of $34.00.

T&Cs simply state:
1 Policyholders will earn 10,000 Qantas Points for purchasing one Qantas Assure Life Protect Insurance and 30,000 for purchasing two or more. Qantas Points will be credited after the policy has been held for 60 continuous days. Not available to existing Qantas Assure Life Protect policyholders.

When I change my policy cover the bonus points remains the same, so I only assume they will provide the points to you after 60 days, does not mention anything about a minimum specifc for coverage.

Good luck all and have a play around with the various types of minimum cover to see if you can get it cheaper.

        • I signed up yesterday and CC got charged $8.50 today already.

I didn't get the email but logging can see my policy. I am In Force as well. Next payment due April.

  • Thanks. Got it down to $10.19. Look forward to redeeming the points in May!

  • for all those already purchased this insurance, remember download their Assure App, then walk and run to get free point.

    • can't you just design a small mechanical device the simulates the motion of running and have it run 24/7 so you can constantly acrue points?

      • yes, you can but there is annual cap on points you can earn.

  • Went through the whole personal information process to end up being told at stage 4 that I no longer qualify for TPD, bringing it back down to 10,000 points

Could add trauma insurance but ends up costing about $30pm

  • $7.73 for me! Wooohooo

  • Got the online confirmation but nothing since, anyone get an email confirmation?

    • Try log in online.

      • Says no account. Signed up around 6pm yesterday.

        • +1

That's strange. I signed up 7pm yesterday, also had no email, but I could log in and see my policy there. They told me it may take up to 24 hours for the email to be sent out.

        • +1

Did you select the "Life + Income" option when logging in?

        • @FeZZa21: that was it, cheers!

  • +1

$10.30 for Government and Defence. That's pretty cheap I may actually consider getting life insurance lol

  • Hi guys, just wanting to check.. do you think the 8 weeks wait before the points reflect on our ff account applies? so after the 60days there's another 2months wait before we could make use of the points?

    • Where did you get this 8 weeks from?

      • in ff website>your account wherein it shows you a breakdown of your ff points there's a message there that says: "Allow up to 8 weeks for points earned with program partners to appear."

        • +1

Well Qantas themselves are offering this deal so I'd hope they aren't counted as program partners. e.g. QF Amex is credited like next day. Hopefully this will be the same.

        • @the69thhokage: i hope so too! :( i need to go to LA on july6th and was keen to use this to book my flight. :(

You all know that signing up for life insurance product with fake details is fraudulent right? My brother signed up this morning - policy cancelled by the company already. They're on to you.

    • +1

Why sign up with fraudulent details? Just sign up with legitimate details and pick the lowest amount of cover you can get your hands on.

      • By law the company will cancel the policy when they notice the fake underwriting answers - you're bound by the duty of disclosure.

        • +1

It's more likely that you will have any potential claims denied in future then policy cancelled

    • +1

Why would you do that? The premium is already quite low, not much to save another dollar or two for 30K points.

    • +5

Serve's your bro right for going after couple of bucks with fake details. My CC has already been charged and status "In Force" :)

      • no banking details name is real they noticed it was a very low premium and investigated him gave him a call. Good luck guys

        • Got my digital policy emailed to me last night, I'm locked in for good.

        • @FeZZa21: An insurance company has the right to cancel a policy if they find out the details provided are not true - this applies to the medical details. Did you read that part? Personal insurance is not lock in. Just saying expect a phone call - they are investigating all the policies set up in the last few days :)

        • @thursroses:

Who said I entered fake details?

        • @FeZZa21: Sorry! Not saying you did at all! This relates more to those who have :)

  • well i have no email or been charged yet, but when i login i see a policy and "In Force: Your policy is "active" and legally binding."

  • $7.08, my life is worth so little since i dont have fun drinking and smoking and partaking in sport
$4.39 for hubby but he can only have life insurance not TPD

    all up $7.08 = $4.39 x 3 = $34.41 for 40,000 QFF

    • hubby could have got one of the other covers

    • How you end up with 40K points when promo is only up to 30K points?

      • +1

        2 people

        • Or if you do 2 people separately, 30K each totalling 60K. You can then get the other person (e.g. wife) to transfer the QFF to you for insuring their life ;)

    $50 a month? wtf

  • Unavailable
    Total Permanent Disability Insurance

    What?

    • Same issue here

  • site is currently down

    • Been working fine for me…

      • back up now.

  • Erk.

Thank you for completing your quote
Based on the information you've provided, it looks like we need to contact you for more information. Please call us on 13 49 60.

    • I found a workaround for the dreaded "we'll contact you" message. Simply redo the questions and then make your policy selections but before hitting "Confirm", hit the back browser button and it'll tell you congrats and ask for payment details :)

It worked on IE11 not sure about other browsers.

      • Works on Win7 Chrome too

      • I get to the policy selection, however when I press back, it just refreshes the quote and I tried multiple times. Tried on IE, Chrome.

        • +1

maybe they REALLY need to have a chat with you about your policy :p

        • @FeZZa21: They must hate me:P

        • Not the policy selection page with "confirm", need to press "back" on the final page with the "purchase order" button".

Anyway, not sure it is still working after 2 hours… they may come back from lunch and patched the system already.

        • @andylch: Yea, thats what I did at the final page, but it just kept refreshing the page instead:(

  • I applied successfully yesterday but my partner tonight is getting the "Based on the information you've provided, it looks like we need to contact you for more information" screen. And none of the answers are negative, so it's really odd. If others are getting this only now something may have changed in their system…

    • Got the same…
Called them. They took details with the Ref number and said that someone would call us back…
      Now have to wait.

  • +1

Just received my welcome pack email and policy info..

  • -1

I don`t know why partner received 2 policies and welcome packs.

Should she take risk and pay twice for 2 months to get 60k points or cancel one policy?

  • got my confirmation email and welcome pack 2 days after

  • Got my welcome pack email and got billed after signing up yesterday

  • Well last night, applied and it said that I could be confirmed without paperwork and when I tried to apply, it asked for to call them up. Currently they have saying that I am asking for the lowest cover of 100k and saying they might not approve me since its a low amount. Anyone having this issue?

    • is this what they said over the phone? even when you called up it wasn't resolved? why would they offer that cover if they intend to decline it.. strange

edit: i applied for $0.5m illness and accident cover last night. received same message. haven't had the time to call them yet, but didn't think it would be a problem.

    • +1

      Read about my workaround above.

  • Got it down to $6.91/month…but I was not able to purchase - it said they would need to contact me for more info :/

    • +1

      Read about my workaround above.

      • Or just ring'em

  • +4

Just had a colleague attempt to take out the policy and was subjected to a call back.

Qantas were full on with the call back questioning her on the policy, why she had selected lowest coverage etc. I have a feeling they are now reviewing all "lower" policies.

Quite pathetic really, if they are prepared to offer such a promotion they should not be harassing people about it.

    • +2

Yes they're only doing this because they got oz'bargained

    • Yeap, I am in the same boat about those questions.

    • Was your colleague still able to take out the policy for 100k cover? Just need to be adamant about the policy you're looking for?

  • $7.59 a month. Will keep for 3 months, get the 30k points & then cancel. Had to take a call but was worth the time.

    • what kinds of things did they ask you on the call?

    • +1

      dupe comment to above.

  • I got my digital welcome pack by email late last night. Credit card has been debited, looks like the policy is all in place now except the Qantas Assure app still hasn't unlocked my points, I suspect it'll happen sometime in the next day or two.

  • -1

How do you guys cancel it once you get the points? Have to call up and say not satisfied with the product?!

    • +6

I'd prefer to say you have been ozbargained. I would like to cancel my policy now.

  • is it easy to cancel after 2 months

  • Anyone got this:

Thank you for completing your quote
Based on the information you've provided, it looks like we need to contact you for more information. Please call us on 13 49 60.

    Your reference number is XXXXXXX.

    The Qantas Assure Team

    • Yeah, a few others got it based on the answers they gave. Call them up and they should be able to sort it out.

      • "based in the answers they gave"…
Is it too suspicious when someone is reasonably young and healthy?

    • Got the same…
Called them. They took details with the Ref number and said that someone would call us back…
      Now have to wait.

      • Just call them, can be a bit long but if your honest it takes 10mins.

        • They have finally called today. It took about 20 min. to go through all their staff.
But all good now. They took the payment and said that would send welcome pack by post.

  • Ugh I got the dreaded call message too. I had the 10% BMI discount so it was less than $8 a month…I knew it was too good to go through and contemplated adding some of the extras but unfortunately I didn't.

Ok tried twice, second time was approx $10 a month, still going to get a call back :\

    • I added a few extras, got it to about $15 a month because who knows, I may get sick in the next few months, and got the call back msg.

  • Has anyone played around with this one here?

    https://www.qantasassure.com/health-insurance

You can get 100K Qantas points for signing up but I'm not sure how much the premium will be

    • +1

Alot because you have to sign up to top level of cover and extras for 2 people. It's like $300pm

      • Doh! Thanks for the info :)

      • At $600, if you can sell the 100,000 points at .01c then your $400 in front.

  • keeps getting referral :(

  • +6

would like to add something here, once you get your account active (assuming you will stick to it for 3 months to obtain your 30k bonus points),

you can do the following to milk additional points :-)

1 - download qantas assure app and link your details

2 - download "google fit and link it to your qantas assure app"

    (worth 150 bonus points)

set our daily goal i.e. 10k steps would give you 8 points a day
    (worth 720 points)

Set your weekly target would give you like 70 points a week (i.e. 70k stpes a week)
    (worth 840 points)

add your friends to set challenges (i.e. 50 points)
(i need to work it out, for today i got 50 points for my win - if we can do this every day…there is a pretty good chance to score a huge amount of bonus)

i would expect to have an addition of ~5k points (if not more)

    • Can you set the goal lower than 10k steps? Like 500 steps?

      • Unfortunately it is in 2500 steps folds (5 points - for 2500 steps….8 points for 10000 steps). You can download and play with it

  • can someone share the details of the call? (if they've had it already)

  • I made it to $7.78

    • For two policies? how come?
I got one for $3.20 but two came to $13.09

      • life + tpd. deselect some options in tpd should bring don the premium unless your career is high risk???

        • I did play with the options but it won't go lower than the total of $13.09 for life and tpd. I've selected only accident cover which is lower than illness and web designer working from home as an occupation. How safer can it be to work from home?! May be it's the age that makes it more expensive… But then, $39 for 30K frequent flyer points is still great.

  • +1

I got the message saying I need to call them.

My insurance was for life and TPD, I selected the minimum amount (100k) and selected accident and sports cover. Ended up at $7 a month. I answered no to all the lifestyle and health questions (which was honest, except for one question that I misunderstood and should have been a yes).

I called them. We went over why I wanted insurance first, the amounts I wanted, why you want it (i.e. to take care of family, etc.). I didn't want to have to justify the very low amount so I just told them it was personal and the reason I apply for these things online is because I didn't want to discuss my after-death plans with another person.

Then they tried to up sell me. I accepted adding illness to both the life and TPD which bumped it to $14 a month.

Then there was about 10 minutes of them going over legal disclosures, confirming the health and lifestyle questions, and taking my credit card details for direct debit.

They didn't request any additional documentation, although they said if a claim is made, they may request supporting evidence for my job, income and lifestyle question answers. No issues here since I'm not planning to make a claim and all the answers were accurate anyway, but something to think about if you are ticking 'no' for everything just because that's easier. Seems like having 'no' ticked for everything is raising red flags.

Anyway I didn't want to spend ages justifying to the guy why I was buying such a cheap policy, which is why I accepted the additional illness cover. I suspect if you insist on a <$10 a month policy, you may be in for a looong conversation or they may just refuse to sell it to you.

I've also been a QFF member for a long time, with a lot of activity on the account. So if you just signed up for QFF, they may also be more suspicious.

    • +1

      sounds like a real pita

  • I called and answered their questions truthfully. After 20 minutes, they allowed me to purchase life+tpd cover for 6.49 a month. They didnot try to cross sell me anything

  • +1

Anyone wants to be invited for the team challenge on the app? PM me with you email.

  • they don't even seem to let you pay if your cover amount over $200 per month

  • Just called Qantas and went through all the questions. Took me 40 mins to finally sign up the policy (9.50 per month). Plan to cancel the policy as soon as I get 30k points.
