Up to 30K QFF Points for Joining Qantas Life Insurance Approx $17 Per Month. 60 Day Minimum

3630

Hi All,

Stumbled across this deal where if you sign up to Qantas Life Insurance and also add another service such as total disability cover you can get 30,000 points on sign up.

What I did was put the lowest possible cover for Life Insurance which was $100,000 and then the lowest possible for Total Permanent Disability Insurance and the total came to $16.87 per month.

The best thing about this is that the 30,000 QFF points are credited after 60 days, so essentially you are looking at 30K points for around the cost of $34.00.

T&Cs simply state:
1 Policyholders will earn 10,000 Qantas Points for purchasing one Qantas Assure Life Protect Insurance and 30,000 for purchasing two or more. Qantas Points will be credited after the policy has been held for 60 continuous days. Not available to existing Qantas Assure Life Protect policyholders.

When I change my policy cover the bonus points remains the same, so I only assume they will provide the points to you after 60 days, does not mention anything about a minimum specifc for coverage.

Good luck all and have a play around with the various types of minimum cover to see if you can get it cheaper.

Points now appear in assure app!! Now to wait for it to be transfered to Qantas rewards before cancelling. What's the best contact number to cancel this?

      • the "best" contact number would be the one that's on the Qantas Assure website ;)

        • +1

Wow 3 negs for asking a legitimate question, nice. I was asking as you guys would have called recently.

          Ok will call 13 49 60.

        • +1

          @starburstyellow:

Perhaps they negged you because you didn't apply common sense

        • @Jason Genova: I understand. But I was asking in case there was a difference between 1800 generic to an actual number that I can call direct to cancel. That's what I meant by "best number" . It wasn't like I asked "what's the number to cancel?". Guess am lucky I didn't get sent a lmgtfy link. :)

        • +1

          @starburstyellow:

For the record I didn't neg you :)

          Have a good day.

    • more pie on Joyce's face!

  • Should on Assure app for me as well. I signed up on 9th March.

      Well played sir, well played.

Though on second thoughts you could have applied for more…

    • Man why didn't I think of this. Well played indeed.

    • Well played buddy

    • Didn't think of that either but did buy 1 for the wife which will soon be family transferred to me

  • Got 60k points today :)

    Thanks OP!

  • Email I received today after enquiry.

  • I wonder if it's save to cancel now before the points got transferred from Qantas Assure to Qantas FF?

    • +2

You mean safe. I wouldn't risk it after all the waiting. I'll personally wait till its in before I cancel.

30k points hit my assure app about 2 days ago, logged into QFF this morning and to my surprise the points are there now!

    • +1

Me too, time to cancel policy…

    • Ditto. Confirmed the points are in today after logging into the app

    • Thanks for the heads up, the points have hit my QFF account now too.
      Let the cancelling begin!

  • 30k is in on QFF account now….

    anyone have issues cancelling?

  • Just tried calling, for some reason it went through to a message service.

I can foresee them trying to avoid any cancellations at any cost at this rate. Was advised it could take up to 5 business days and that I would receive a letter advising the policy had been cancelled. Not much piece of mind knowing that you do not get to verify the cancellation with speaking to someone.

    To Cancel Call Direct:
    (03) 9928 7284

    You will need the following:
    Policy number (7 Digits)
    Date of birth (8 Digits - ddmmyyyyy, 19 January 2000 -> 19012000)

When you call, its automated. You will be asked for Policy Number followed by hash key, then date of birth followed by hash key, then a confirmation to proceed with cancellation (press 1 to confirm) then all done.

    Long story:
I called up the wrong department and they tried to redirect me to life insurance cancellation department, but no one picked up so I got given this number instead. Hassle free cancellation.

    • +1

      that was almost to easy!

    • cuy, you are a legend! That was too easy

    • Thanks for this, saved a lot of time. Lets see how long before they actually cancel it. They must be getting quite a few today…

    • Way to easy. Is it a legit way to cancel?? But Thank you so much! you saved me a lot of time

    • Have my upvote, well deserved. Thanks!

    • You're a legend, mate!

    • Legend! Worked beautifully

    • Thanks! Super easy!

    • @cuy thanks!

    • Thanks a bunch, what a time saver!

    • Thank you for sharing this!

Finally some IT automation that makes things easier and faster to complete.
Anyone received their confirmation email yet? How long did it take?

      • It's been 4 days since some of you guys cancelled, anyone got their confirmation email yet?

        • No, never got confirmation email of the policy too LOL

but got poitns and 3x$7.90 dd from cc.

          haha easuiest 30k ever

          shouldna made more!

        • I just had a missed call from a number I didn't recognise, according to the website shouldianswer and reverseaustralia it was Qantas assure. No message was left though..

        • I got a letter in the mail yesterday stating my policy has been cancelled

    • I was going to be lazy and just cancel my CC, you are a hero my son.

    • I had all sorts of trouble trying to cancel before I saw this. They were putting me through to an automated line but i strongly suspect the one they were putting me to was for a different product (e.g. health insurance).

Once I rung this number direct I was able to cancel straight away. Brilliant!

    • +2

The best post of 2017. Thanks mate.

    • Legend!! Comment of the year!!!

    • Just a heads up: I've used this method and although I was told the cancellation was successful, I still got charged this month. So make sure you're not still being charged!

I called 13 49 60, chose Life Insurance and then Existing Member and was put to a person straight away who was happy to cancel the policy and refund the charge.

  • Got my 60k this morning. (two policies)

  • Does anyone know if you cancel, is it effective immediately or at the end of your cycle?

    • Effective immediately. I asked about a pro-data refund but I wasn't given an explicit answer.

  • Policy started 17/3/2017, points hit the Assure App last night… Not sure how long to expect now, but wouldn't be long I wouldn't think.

    • Points hit my account last night… Cancel time.

  • My points are already in my Qantas account today. Only took a few days from the Assure app to the Qantas app.

    • Ditto. Points were visible in the assure app on Monday and got credited to the QFF a/c today. seems they been doing some heavy lifting.

  • It's straight forward to cancel the policy. Select Option 4 upon dialing 134960 and then tell customer service representative that you want to cancel the policy. Afterwards the whole process is automated where you just need to enter your policy no. and DOB. You will get confirmation email shortly.

Trust this helps other users :)

Looking back, I should've got policies for my whole family!

    • I thought about it too for my 2yo.

    • you could've actually gotten 2x policies for each of your family members lol I only got 1 for myself and 1 for wife, could've gone 2x and nabbed 120K in QFF points! oh well, maybe in the next life then since they've changed the terms now :p

  • they must be getting heaps of cancellation requests,

this morning I cancelled mine and had to press 4 and then 2, speak to one guy who confirmed my details, then he transferred me to another, and then finally to the automated system.

knowing it was an automated cancellation system I decided to just cancel the wife's for her in the afternoon,
this time it was press 4, speak to a lady who didn't ask for anything accept transfer me to the automated system.

    • +4

or maybe they set up the automated system just for us ozbargain VIP customers :p

      • Probably knew they would be fighting a losing battle if they tried convincing people not to cancel haha.
The majority of people who signed up during this period, and be calling up to cancel would be points chasers only.

    • Not sure if it is a new feature or not but you can cancel directly without human interaction, see comment below.

  • +1

Points in my FF account, policy cancelled.

$30 for 30k points, has to be one of the best deals I have come across on the site.

    Awesome!

  • Phew, I came here to see if others got theirs too! I've been considering keeping my policy but decreasing it to the bare minimum to continue earning on the Q assured app. I can earn an extra 360 points for about $5 a month, if I recall correctly. Anyone else have the same train of thought?

    • But then I also want to cancel in case this is offered again in the future and I get myself another odd 30k points

      • +1

I can't ever see them offering this ever again TBH.

Their new deal sees points awarded monthly with a minimum policy amount of $40 per month.

        • i just took a look at their most recent deal- thanks for the heads up!!
I'm gonna cull my policy down the bare minimum to keep earning my points.

  • I got my 30k points!!

  • I also got my 30k points.

And the easiest cancellation process I've come across: dial the Customer Care number (134960), select Life Insurance (2), select Cancel Your Policy (6), enter policy number + birthday as prompted, select Confirm Cancellation (1). Await email. No human interaction. I'd love to see that with the big bank credit cards where they often make a point of needing to "consult a customer service specialist" before cancelling.

Update: duplicate of better formatted response :-)

  • Does the cancellation happen instantly? Therefore for those that use the Qantas Assure App, it makes sense to cancel on the last week of the 3rd month?

    • Yes.

  • Thanks OP, checked my Qantas account tonight and saw the 30k. Only three payments of $10.21, what a bargain. Called the automated service for cancellation the "cuy" posted. Thanks mate!

  • +1

Did anyone get an email after cancelling via automated number? I still haven't got it. :(

    • Cancelled yesterday, and have not got the confirmation email yet.

    • +2

Didn't get email confirmation but when I log in to my account on the Assure website, it says the policy has lapsed.

      • Ok thanks for the idea. Will try login to see if policy no longer active.

        • Logged in to assure website, says it's no longer active ie status is Lapsed. Happy camper now.

      • Didn't get email confirmation and account still showing in force. I've called thrice now. Is it that hard to get it right QF Assure?

      • I have tried to cancel the policy via the automated system last week. But still my Qantas Assure account shows the policy "in force". I have called them to cancel my policy but they just got my details and promised a call back which never happened. I even emailed them but received no reply. It seems it is only me as others see policy lapsed in their account dashboard.

        • same here.

cancelled twice via the automated system last week, and still showing "in force".
