Imation USB 3.0 320GB External HDD $29 Officeworks Pitt St Sydney Opening Special

860

Time for me to give back to the community that has given me so much.

This OW store just opened last week but the opening specials started today. There are some others but the hard drive takes the cake.

It's only this one store, but you could try to get your local OW to price match :)

Edit: according to others below you can tear it out and use it in a laptop or other device, so it should be a standard SATA 2.5" drive, and is a Samsung 5400rpm drive.

Has to be the cheapest 320Gb hdd around.

Also there are heaps, just on the racks I could see at least 50.

EDIT: Just uploaded the pic of the ad that was in some newspaper, couldn't tell which one the manager of the store had it. Should do better than a receipt for those that need something to show other stores.

Bonus: Between 7-11am free juice is being served for all

"Not sure if you can tear it out and use it in a laptop or other device, if anyone knows I might go back and pick up some more"

I am using it for my ps3 right now. So, yes you can use it for your laptop or ps3.

yes.. same here! i got this in my ps3 now.. got the ps3 12g console deal from target recently :)

      • would you guys know its rpm - 5400 or 7200rmp? thanks.

        • The ones I bought use a Samsung ST320LM001 drive, 5400rpm

      • +1

Is that USB 3.0 version that you bought ?
        How to open it ?

edit: Just able to open it and I can confirm it was samsung drive. Model: ST320LM001

Cheap price but kinda av value in terms of $ per GB.

    • +2

But if you don't need that much GB or don't want to spend too much, it's GOOD value

      • +1

Sure if you need just any cheap 2.5 drive its good, but 1TB at that rate = $90.63, so just av. in terms of storage bangeth for bucketh.

        • +1

For this price you can have a drive for your PVR and your PS3 above, but also for that dodgy old laptop with the dead hard drive that's perfect for someone else, or as a server, or any other project. If you were after GB/$ you'd probably be going for a 3.5" drive.

  • 10 of these in raid 5?

  • Using one for PVR function on a Samsung TV. I thought $39 was cheap.

  • I bought 2 of these from OW in another deal for $39ea great drives I would pick up a couple more if they were available elsewhere for $29.

  • Other stores could price match and beat by 5% in there policy.

    • Who else has a 5% price match scheme and stocks this product besides OW?

    • +2

i was told by the guy (office works on clarence street, sydney) in ow that they did not price match other ow stores

      • I was told the same too. I thought you work for OW DEvok so how come you don't know that?

  • +1

Was told I need a pic of the receipts. Op can you please upload one ?

    • Ad should do you fine right? See the pic in the post

  • is this 68 Pitt or 242 Pitt?

    • +1

      242

      • thanks

  • +1

I was in the 242 Pitt Street store just before closing time this evening. In case it helps someone, there were easily more than a couple of dozen of these (at $29.00 each) remaining on display (directly in front of the registers, facing away from them).

There are plenty more at the laptop section.

      • thanks, i will check it out after my breakfast (already in the office)

  • Thanks just in time when I'm in need of a HDD, old laptop running out of HDD space now. Will try to price match at local OW store. Thanks OP!

Will try to price match at local OW store.

good luck with that…maybe you can get 5% off, then someone else can pricematch that & get 5% off etc until someone can buy one back at Pitt St for 20c

      • maybe what he meant is price match only without the 5%

  • I saw the ad on page 3 of yesterday's mX

  • Bugger, it looks like this is a SATA laptop hard drive, I was hoping I could rip it out and use it in a old school PATA laptop :(

  • Yes just bought one. Plenty left. Good if you need 320gb not so good if you need 1tb

I thought the new store was in Haymarket but I cannot find any store in Haymarket in their HP.
do you mind telling me whereabout the new shop?

  • For Mac users, it's worth it just for the Paragon NTFS software that comes with it which retails for $20

    • u sure? it comes with paragon ntfs?

      • Under the Mac folder there is a file called "Paragon_NTFS_for_Mac_OS_X_Imation.dmg" for around 36.9MB

Managed to get my local Office works to match it,There was a lot of cursing from the attendant over it.

    • +1

      lol

  • Just popped in at lunch time and can concur that there's still heaps of them scattered around the store - at the registers, in the laptop section and also alongside the other external hard drives.

    • I just left there around 10mins ago. There were 8 left but lots of people in the shop.

  • All gone now.

  • All gone. Any other store in CBD which sells this or 500GB at a bargain?

  • Wow! I picked one up around 10.30-11AM. There were lots left then..

  • Got 1 at 9.45 this morning. There were around 50 of them remaining. None left at 2 PM.

    • kewl saves me going in to pick up a second due to all this hype

  • Picked up the last one around 1.15pm today. What I think was the last one anyway, unless there were more hidden out back. Thanks OP

  • what!! 1:15pm?? I was there 12:45pm and didn't see any left on the shelf with the sign still there so I know it is the right shelf.. grrrrr!!! walked around the shelves several times just in case there are some place else but could not find!!

  • Yeh defo around 1:15 - 1:30pm, they were all gone. I picked up 2 at around that time as well and there was only a handful left. There were some people there holding and considering which I thought odd. Its $29, buy buy buy!
