Getting pretty frequent now. As usual check Expedia Brazil.
    ~ 835.00 BRL = 407.528 AUD MEL > SIN return.

    • Haha, that's even better than Scoot! Nice one

    • must be off peak because the peak / holiday seasons still pricey

      • Heaps of dates. Got mine in the holidays (4 weeks time) in the last sale. Look at the Qantas site for sale fare before searching Expedia. For SIN seems to be most dates except DEC - Mid JAN.
These were a few dates I chose in October.

    • +1

You know there's something wrong when you can fly to SIN for less than you can east to west coast or MEL/SYD to CNS…

      • +2

I know that seems absurd but it's just the simple economics of supply and demand. If you were to plot a map of the cities of the world based on air fares alone it would make an interesting study - the major hubs of different countries would be close neighbours; those used by budget airlines would have a cluster of satellites around them and smaller cities would be very remote.

        • +1

Would be very interesting to see.
Kind of surprised no one has done a map like that.

    • Are these prices part of their two-year international turnaround plan? Or has the revenue department gone bonkers?

    • Question: When on expedia brazil, how do you translate the page? I used google translate, but when I click search for flights, nothing happens.

Maybe it was my fault? I'm not sure =(

    • Is there a way to change from Brazilian to English? I can't see it anywhere and can't proceed with the booking :(

      • +1

Use google chrome browser. By the time I worked out my flights from the last deal ($1060 return to LHR) I knew the IE pages off by heart in Portuguese lol but best to just use chrome

        • I tried using chrome

But the last few pages don't get translated…

          Is that right?

        • just right click on the page and click on the translate option

        • I did… but the last 2 pages… they didn't translate

Anyone finding that as the same problem?

        • Right click and press translate again…

  • Good

  • +1

    Might want to add
    SYD-CHC for $159 one way
    SYD-AKL/WLG $179 one way

  • Booked flights to HCMC today with Qantas. Very happy with the price.

    • I wonder what the pricing on VN is as they're usually significantly lower even though they're the same flight.

    • how much did u end up getting it for?
I am looking at flights too, checked on expedia.com.br, I get 833 Brazillian real but this is for one way only i think!

      • my bad, all good…didnt check on roundtrip!
        $408 and qantas! crikey!!

        • It's actually a QF codeshare on VN. But yes $408 return on a QF codeshare is bloody great! What dates were you looking at for that price?

        • Guys, just a sanity check, under the final price, im seeing "All prices are in British Pound"? whats up with that??
in case Im going to get hit with this as being more than what I think it would be??

        • +1

It's an error in translation, nothing to be worried about. I've gone through the process and it's fine.

      • Sale ticket to HCMC is not code share direct flight but transfer in Singapore (Qantas to Singapore then Jetstar to HCM).

  • need cheap flights to LAX In october…

  • Oh man the Tokyo one is tempting. Was thinking of going there with my girlfriend for our 4 year anniversary :)

    • +5

She might be expecting a little more then that ;)

  • +2

Man, >$1000 return to Japan is not a bargain.

    • Flights to japan are expensive now….

      where did u find cheaper?

      • Melbourne-Narita (Tokyo)
        Yesterday booked.
        Flying in August
        Return per person: $499
        Airline: JAL (Qantas code share)
No deal, no offer just the price that came up.

        • Can u tell me which website u used?

        • When I go to book flights to Narita from Sydney it's like $2950 for two. Could you please send more details as to how you got the $499 return? Thanks.

        • It's going to be hot during that time!

      • Bro, flight centre(of all places to look) are $829 return from Melbourne aug1-nov29
        http://www.flightcentre.com.au/flights/product/tokyo/melbour…

  • Got so excited when I first saw this, I was hoping it would be ones for Europe similar to the ones posted a few months back. Anyone have any idea if sales like that will return within the next month or two?

    • +3

Yes, let me check my crystal ball and I'll get back to you :P

      • +2

well? it's already been 24 minutes, your ball must be very hazy

        • +1

Hazy like the moors of Scotland?!

  • When I was checking this out, I noticed that if I chose to fly out from Canberra I would get:

Singapore $899 ($200 for domestic leg)

Hong Kong $1,018 ($230 for domestic leg)

Tokyo $1,100 ($51 for domestic leg).

I really don't know what Qantas is doing here but flying to Tokyo just got a little more attractive.

    • Paying over $1000 return to Tokyo is a rip off.
      No Bargain there.

      • From Sydney maybe, but from Canberra the deal looks quite good.

        • Never flown out if syd.

Got Melbourne to Tokyo for $499 return.
Booked with Japan airlines direct but it's a Qantas coded flight so assume ill be on a Qantas plane.

There are cheap deals around. These are really not that good.

        • +1

          Agree

Expedia Brazil SO much cheaper for most flights - on the same Qantas planes…

Never buying from an Australian travel agent again….

        • Hi, which website did you use to get this great price? Can't seem to find it anywhere online… thanks

        • Booked through JAL.com direct

          Depart MEL
          August 4th 2013
          2 Economy Flights
          Direct Tokyo
          $499AUD

          Depart Tokyo
          August 16th 2013
          2 Economy Flights
          $499 AUD

Total for 2 people return; $998 Inc Taxes and Bags
          QF Code Share Flights

Looked just now.. price is like $1400 per person
Guess i logged in during a sale or something

        • you so lucky! : )

        • +1

Neither JAL nor Qantas flies direct MEL to Tokyo.

        • Well I must be lucky then cause I have always flown Melbourne to Tokyo direct and I have always flown JAL or Qantas. Given I go two times a year i am pretty sure I know where I can fly to from Melbourne.

        • wow you serious $499 for each to Tokyo return? geez that would be excellent if I can get it. would be great if you can post it up if you do find it again?

        • Yeah, how come you didn't post after booking for the $499 flights? Been looking for cheap flights for Japan :(

        • Delete

        • +1

LOL - must be a private jet as QF only fly Sydney to Narita, same for JAL.

  • Guys, how does buying from Expedia Brazil work? Is it as simple as just paying by credit card? Is there anything different than buying from an Australian website? Is there anything I should be aware of? Always noticed cheaper price on international websites but never bought because of confusion.

    • +3

Have a look at previous deals e.g. -http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100517 - the only stumbling block I hit was the bank rejecting the transactions as suspicious. After calling and telling them to expect $2k from Brazil it was all good. (I got Brisbane - London - Dubai - Brisbane in November for about $1050)

Other than language / currency it is no different to local versions of these sites. Once the transaction goes through - you can just deal directly with Qantas.

  • +1

Definately let your bank know before buying! Saves a lot of hassles.

My booking through .br was declined several times on the website but according to my CC (28 degree) they didn't decline it. There are multiple $1200 charges on my CC pending (from multiple failed attempts!!). I even got a call from the fraud dept.

I called up Expedia brasil (yes it was fun pressing random numbers in portuguese but CS speak english)and they assured me that there is NO booking and No charges and those charges on my CC should drop off in 24hrs. I hope it's true as it's $$$ thousands. They even tried to make the booking over the phone and still didn't work.

Not too sure where to go from here to make the booking as 28 Degree are saying they're not declining but Expedia brasil isn't able to make the booking. May be it's a Mcard thing.

    • +1

Could you please help me how to call the customer service in brazil? i tried to call the listed number on their website but it did not go through.

  • Thanks guys. I have looked into Expedia Brazil for a return trip in mid august to Kualalumpur but its not cheaper than Australian Expedia.

  • booked to Spore return on experia br and its payment is still pending…hopefully it works coz its cheaper than qantas website…has anyone had any problems using it other than bank payment?

  • What do you mean by pending? Did the Expedia website accept your booking? or did you get some error mssage?

  • anyone can find cheaper price to fly to Shanghai this year Oct or Nov?
I tried expedia.br but couldnt get it to work.

  • on netbank it says its pending, but expedia.br has already confirmed the payment…but no email confirmation etc…a bit concern….hmm…has anyone already paid and used the tix that they bought from expedia.br?

  • $30 for CC payment through the Qantas site! omgz! I paid through bpay.

    • +1

You could just buy a voucher from the Qantas website - booking through the voucher reference circumvents credit card fees.

      • Unfortunately that trick won't work for multicity itineraries to my $90 PITA.

        • +1

In that case your best bet is to print out your planned itinerary and take it to a travel agent e.g. flight centre. They will absorb the CC fees on your behalf.

        • First FC I went to didn't even respond after making me wait 15mins for an agent to serve me. The second one we went to wanted $300 more per pax for the exact same flights… My regular TA wanted $200 more but that's because they couldn't find the routing we wanted…

        • That was your experience with a printed copy of the itinerary for your planned trip? It sounds like those travel agents won't be in business for long!

        • Specified flight numbers and made it clear it was to be an open-jaw/multicity ticket. All the TA's I went and none of them came close to offering a reasonable price.

        • you could book single legs and call Qantas to link the PNRs

        • That would be a heck of a lot more expensive booking individual sectors. And I wouldn't be able to get the QF codeshare on AS and AA. That also removes any transit misconnect protection between QF and AS. AFAIK linking PNR's are for TCP's with different people travelling together on the same flights so that everyone can be seated together or share FF benefits and in the case of IROPs everyone is on the same flights.

  • Not sure if anyone had a look at the terms n conditions on experdia.com.br. Under General rule sections, it says 'Tickets my bot be sold in Australia/New Zealand'
Does it mean we can buy this ticket if depart fr Aus?

    • bot was that?

  • got this in the Terms&cond:
    ORIGINATING AUSTRALIA -
TICKETS MAY NOT BE SOLD IN AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND.
OR - TICKETS MAY ONLY BE SOLD BY TRAVEL AGENT 88D7.

Does it mean we can't buy if depart fr AUs?

    • Is that right? Anyone can confirm?

      • Yes terms say that, but the tickets aren't being sold in Australia. They are being sold in Brazil. No different to rocking up to a travel agent in Brazil and booking same tickets.

Many people have traveled on these tickets. There is no issue here.

        • Thanks Kirky1 for confirming this

        • can you confirm how to convert "reals" into AUD?

do they substitute "." for ","

ie $3,328 in AUD read 3 thousand 3 hundred and 28 dollars

          would be read

R$3.328 in Real, read 3 thousand 3 hundred and 28 dollars

i'm just making sure i have all the decimal places correctly because it's telling me a flight from perth to HK is only $250?

        • That seems like the case as when you go further in the selection a "," comes in to indicate what looks likes the "cents".

Can I ask what dates you're looking at?

        • Copy and paste into xe.com or as some prefer Google R$3328 in AUD. It's just easier to omit the separator completely when using the currency converters.

          Numbers in Brazil: 1 234 567,89 or 1.234.567,89

Don't be confused by the Google chrome translation which switches the "." for a ",". (And also incorrectly translates as being British pounds.

          AUD$250 = ~ BRL$504

  • booked return to tokyo in late feb/mid march 2014, 750 return with 28 degrees, no hassles with it being held up yet. goddamn… assuming it works, thanks!

    edit: from melbourne

  • Do we need to register with expedia brazil to buy these qantas tickets?

  • Do we need to register with expedia brazil to buy qantas tickets to singapore?

    • No, you can buy your tickets from wherever you like. But if you wish to buy through Expedia Brazil, yes you will need to.
