    damn it, I just registered a new .com last week because my old .me was expiring and GoDaddy wanted $19.99 to renew it for 1 year. I only paid about $7 to register it in the first place. This would have been handy.. I just need a cheap domain to point at my home server that is not one of those crappy dyndns type ones. I have a static IP anyway.

    the sting is it is $23-$30 per year to renew the registration. you are better off with a .com or .com.au domain

      Yes. But Namecheap Maximum of one domain is allowed for that price. Here we can have an another extra domain for one year free of charge.

        doesnt make sense to me why you would want a domain for 1 year and then get rid of it.

        would be good if you could get a premium domain and then sell it for profit.

        For example, I got 2 domains with the .asia promo last year, they are due to expire in 70 days and have no intention of renewing.

        In both cases, you ruin the chances of someone really wanting or needing a domain and not finding it, if youve already registered it and dont really intend using or renewing.

        what exactly is the use of a domain without access to the nameservers. i have never before seen a domain registrar that disables access to the dns servers

    I sent a message to the support, they gave me DNS and NS access within a day, no issues or questions.
