I hope they dont markup the prices to compensate for this offer

    • No they don't! In my store I scored this HD set top box for $4 http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/tv-audio-accessories/media-playe…

And I might go back tomorrow for another voucher :)

      • do you need to give any information to signup?

        • No they just hand over the voucher in front of the shop

        • No one handing out any voucher at Auburn shop. Should I beg? :p

        • you have to ask either one of the sales guys or the lady at the cash register when you walk in.

I think alot of people exploited the fact that there was no minimum spend and scored free stuff. They must of hid them away or once a sales is is made on a big ticket item, then they would hand them out to avoid freebies.

Why get changed when you can go naked?

  • It would be a nice gesture if they would offer this deal as an online voucher to be put in the checkout, so everyone could use it nationwide…

    • agree, i wouln't mind a free dvd player :)

      • +2

How long you think that will last before we ozbargained it

"Limit of 1 voucher per household and transaction"

Can a family of 4 get 4 separate coupon? Not sure how they know "per household" ? Do they ask for some ID (showing home address) or something?

    • +9

Please respect their rules. Don't be greedy!

    • They usually just ask you, have you shopped here before, so I'm guessing it's one transaction per address though I've never been asked for proof of address.

I picked up a "Olin - HD PVR Ready Set Top Box" (http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/tv-audio-accessories/media-playe…) for $0 :D

      • +1

It says one per family on the voucher.

  • BR player Ozb'ed already!

  • Very tricky….can still order same BR player online though….."Trick n Bait"

  • pity they dont have any stores here in WA… be great to get a freebie DVD player

  • -3

If the items are out-of-stock, can we place order with this coupon?

    • +7

SweetStella I swear every time you post you ask a easily answered question and never give back to the community.

How are you even ordering? As far as I''m aware this is in store only.

  • You cannot find any electronics under 49.00 in their penrith store

First I asked the lady at the cash register (Cremorne store) about the promotion and she said:
"Do you have your email printed out or the sms we sent you?"
"The page on your site said just to walk in…"
"Oh hmmm okay then just come and see me when you're ready to make a purchase."

Later I overheard snippets of two staff members arguing:
    "Where are the vouchers?"
"People are so fucking cheap, they get the voucher and they're buying 30 dollar, 40 dollar stuff and leaving."
"Look mate it's not our call, we were told to give them out"
Begrudgingly, he starts giving them to people looking at fridges…

I needed a new blender so I was happy with the discount; definitely didn't feel very comfortable in the store though.

    • What store? Castle hill were friendly, I asked for the voucher, they hand it to me and I only pay $1. No name nor address requested.

      • What store?

        Cremorne.

    • +1

I had a similar experience at the Caringbah store. They had a stack of vouchers hidden at a closed counter.

I was going to ask for one, but the staff members were giving me the stare when I was looking in the direction of the vouchers :(

      • +1

I didn't have a problem at the Caringbah store. Asked the lady behind the counter for a voucher, she handed one over with a smile. Also super nice when it came time to pay.

    • -4

      LOL

Flash em your OzBargain badge, it will shut em up. :D

    • +3

I had the same kinda experience at the cremone store, absolute morons. I had to ask for a voucher at the counter, and the lady had this "look" on her face… this is especially bad for me since I bought a whole bunch of expensive appliances for our place some months before!! :(

    • -1

      Haha, cool story bro.

  • $15 after $25 voucher for a Tefal Pro Series 30 cm stainless steal stir fry pan. Pretty happy with that.

Brother spent $5 after voucher for VS Sassoon trimmer kit.

    Awesome post, OP! Thanks!

    • Got the same thing as you. Ticket price was $45 then it went down to $40 at the checkout.

  • -1

Yep, I went to Auburn store but "Akai - 2 Channel DVD Player with USB, Black" went out of stock :(
Phoned Castle Hill store but they said same, its out of stock.

Anyone able to find it in any stores?
A rep @ Auburn store said we cannot ORDER it if its not on STOCK :(

  • Got a frypan for $4. Thanks OP!

  • got myself a free hairdryer! woop!

  • The staff at Caringbah were super friendly as usual. They didn't have the cheap coffee grinder or rice cooker I was after but I scored a nice kettle for an easy $2.

  • +1

Ended up buying more than i planned just to leave at least a few dollars in the store and not feel that bad about it. Great bargain, but definitely a very awkward one. Not for the squeamish!

    • An Oz-bargainer with a conscious? Wow, that's a first.

      • An Oz-bargainer with a conscious?

        You meant conscience?

  • +2

Couldn't get a voucher at the Auburn store… when I asked the sales people and customer service about it they said they'll discount the $25 at the check out. The guy at the counter then tried to charge me the full price ($60), and when I told him about the voucher he said that I wasn't a member (wth??) and asked if I'd bought anything from them in the past (I told him I have…)
He then asked for my mobile number and finally gave me the discount…

    • Castle Hill staff turned harsh as well.Claim the voucher ASAP.

  • +2

At around 2:30pm, Auburn store told me they've run out of vouchers and there'll be no discounts given. I showed my true ozbargain spirit and just put the goods I wanted to buy back to shelf and walked out. There's still a long queue at the checkout, perhaps the guys got lucky and grabbed the last few before I got in, or they were simply sucked in by the promotion to get into the store and buy something even without discount (that's very un-ozbargain). The carpark is almost full and as I drove out there're a few more cars driving in, guess more disappointed faces.

    • i went in around 2pm in the auburn one and asked for the vouchers, they said only 4 left. so i took one. got myself a toaster, washing liquid and batteries, all for free, i asked them if i needed to spend over $25, they said no i didn't. so got all for free. some people lining before me didn't get the voucher first. so when they went up the counter with the goods, they couldn't buy anything and lefted the store.

    • i

  • I also went into Auburn and was told that unless I han SMS they would not honor the deal!

I showed them the Facebook page to no avail.

    Unexpectedly dissappointed.

    • +4

Hi GLO, we are very sorry to hear about your experience at our Auburn store. We have spoken to the employees involved to clear up any misunderstandings. The offer is still on, please ask for the store manager should you have any further problems. Alternatively you can send us a private message with more details and we will look into every case individually.

  • -5

I also went into Castle Hill and was told that unless I have SMS they would not honor the deal!
I clicked on LIKE but How do I get SMS or any code on SMS?

  • went to penrith store and brought a 50 dollar toaster half price. all very friendly they came up and handed me the voucher.

  • +3

Cremorne store - overheard someone asking for a voucher and mumble grumble from the staff. For crying out loud, it was them (2nds World) who advertised the offer! Hardly worth it when you see the pathetic 'scratch and dent' stock they have on offer

  • Just came back from the auburn store.

They now take your details down as a customer to enforce their one per customer condition. But they are giving away the $25 no minimum.

I was with 4 other work colleagues, and the people in front and behind us were doing the same thing.

bought a Tefal pan, marked $34 but registered at $29. so got it for $4 :)

  • +5

Went to the Auburn store, as soon as the lady knew Im asking for a vouvher the conversation turned cold, she told me there was no voucher left, 30 seconds later another guy standing next to us pulled out a stack of vouchers from his pockets and given one to a customer looking to buy a washing machine, when he realised i saw that he quickly put them back into his pocket. It makes me feel so uncomfortable the way I've been treated.

I mean, if you don't want to hand out vouchers then do not use this promotion to fool consumers we are not idiots. Next time be smarter if you are going to make a lie, but i don't think there will be a next time.

    • +1

u should of jumped the guy and took the vouchers from him.

  • Went to Auburn store today, got VS Hair cutting kit + precision trimmer for $6 after discount. Took them thru checkout and mentioned I wanted to use the $25 discount, they checked my customer record (which had the WRONG phone no on it - so I could have made a new one!) and applied the discount, noting it on my record, assumedly so I couldn't use code again.
Lady behind me was using discount too, she'd been SMS'd it.

  • friend goes there to get $25 vouchers today,
sales guy says " who did u come with "
    friend " by myself "
sales guy looks around and says " i can't give it to you if you came with friends, relatives or a group "
    friend " i came by myself "
sales guy " how come everyone is coming by themselves " and walks off rudely

    • What the hell? That makes no sense on their behalf, your friend could have been there to spend $1000's…..yes, all by himself!

      • yeah he didn't want to give to him cause he thought he came in a group and then lied about it.

    • +1

All their T&C's say is "Limit of 1 voucher per household and transaction" - says to me that I could have come in with 100 friends as long as they were not in my household. Would be pretty annoyed if they said what he said (and would have argued it til I was blue in the face) - just shows that 2nds world didn't work this one through all the way to their staff, or that their staff don't care.

      • yeah, thats what i read as well, one per house hold, they say if u come in a group, even if everyone is from different house, they can only give you one voucher.

        • Hi silverhawks, please message me/post some more details (store name, date/time, which area of the store).
It certainly doesn't make any sense and is something we would like to address with the store in question as it is clearly against the rules of the voucher.

We know that some our stores/staff had to deal with a few 'customers' who were making up all sorts of stories to get more vouchers. It is always a shame when a small percentage of users destroys the fun for everyone else but unfortunately is always part of the 'game'.
We had everything from people saying it was their 'identical twin brother' who happened to have bought something 5 minutes earlier (these twins were so identical they even dressed in exactly the same clothing :-) ), to people changing clothing right outside the store, to others arguing they should get change on the balance of the voucher (apparently it 'says on ozbargain you should get change').

Again, it is only a small percentage who spoil the fun for everyone else. This obviously doesn't explain or excuse your experience but may have added to the way the staff dealt with you and other customers.

Did you end up getting your voucher?

        • Hi, its my friend that had the problem, he later purchase some stuff and went to the counter, and the lady at the counter fixed it up for him. i don't know which store he went to though.

        • Dear Rep,

My brother had a similar and extremely upsetting experience last Saturday (on the last day of the promo). We were at your Cremorne store in the afternoon to order a home phone after speaking with a (lovely mannered) employee on the phone confirming that if my brother came in to pay in person for the item, that the voucher would apply and that he could pick it up in store when it arrives. After driving him all the way to the store and after 15 minutes of having to explain to the staff member about how we had already spoken to someone and confirmed the details (when he wanted us to just order off the website), my brother was then denied the promised voucher due to various incorrect and unfounded excuses. Furthermore, after being embarrassed in front of his fiance, I asked to speak to a manager or someone from head office. Since no one was available I asked the staff member to please have someone contact me about the issue. Furthermore (and to add injury to the insult), the staff members actually started laughing at my brother after he paid for the item (as he was desperate), and walked off. No this was an absolutely disgraceful event of customer service and professionalism. I have shopped at your alburn store before without even the slightest mishap, and I honestly think we would have been better off at HN or Domain considering how we were treated. I am yet to hear back from HQ about this issue, and I thought I would let you know as you seem to be proactive in dealing with such issues.

          Regards,

          C.

I should also add, that we both live a separate addresses (and have for the last 7 years), and also that he was the one that told me about the offer (before I saw OzB) after seeing it on your facebook page.

Today I went to Cremorne store to get my voucher, and the lady at the desk tried to tell me the promotion was finished. I got the 2nds world website up on my phone, and showed her where it said 'until 13th August' and she tried to tell me they changed the date to the 11th. It took some pestering for her to finally give in and give me my voucher.

Before she gave in, she asked me what I planned to buy, as if to scope out if my business would be profitable.

I was after the $49 Samsung blu ray, but they were out of stock, so just got an Olin PVR for my father-in-law, at $0.

Also, they asked for my drivers license and took down my details, which I believe others didn't have to do at other store locations.

  • +1

Went to Castle Hill today. Very friendly service from the lovely girl at the front desk.
I didnt have an SMS but showed her the Facebook page on my IPAD and the fact I've liked 2nds World…

I explained I had never been to the stores and that I was here for the voucher. I said I'd read some horror stories on the Internet about some customers trying to ripoff 2nds World…

Apparently some guys have been coming in every 10 mins claiming to be identical sextuplets…

The Castle Hill store is good and I will be back when I need a TV or washing machine. IN the meantime I picked up a lovely 30cm Tefal fry pan for $20 (Was $45 less $25 - same pan was $99 at the Good Guys in Castle Hill)…

The frypan is this one - wish I had seen the 3 Frypan set for $60…
    http://www.2ndsworld.com.au/tefal-frypan-30cm-coated-id-E913…

When I was waiting to pay, some Indian woman was getting a free (less than $25) blender. She kept giving false phone numbers and I had to laugh when the girl eventually called the number (something like 488 372 3712) and put it on speaker phone saying the number was disconnected.

I left before I saw the end of the saga, but the Indian for some reason didn't want to give away her real identity - probably because she'd been in the day before…

I'd already cleared my ID but as a laugh when I stepped up I said "My number is 1234567890"…

I'd suggest 2nd's World simply insist that all customers claiming the $25 must produce a valid drivers license next time - it would save a lot of fuss.

A good promo from 2nds World and I feel sorry for them that so many morons tried to exploit it…

  • The ad for this is still running on the radio. I rang Castle Hill, and they said if you have an SMS or email, you can still get the $25 voucher(it seems every store have their own rules on this promo, that aren't in the T&C's.

Does anyone have this email? I heard about the promo on the radio and on facebook, but Castle Hill say you need an SMS or email (even before the 13th).

If so, can you forward it to [email protected]

    Thanks
