My friend's got one. The screen looks so washed out. Not sure if it is his handset or it is the same across this range.

The viewing angles do seem to be inferior to Samsungs AMOLED displays. It's not that bad though.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but doesn't one of the recent software updates improve this?

        • +1

I have one of these phones and they are brilliant! The viewing angles people talk about are almost non existent - UNLESS - for some reason you decide to view the angle on 70 degrees, but stuffed if i know why you would want to do that. The new firmware has definitely made the colours more vibrant and 'classic'. It's reproduction is a bit better than the S3. Have only seen an S4 in the shop - so cant comment there.

Grey import at Mobicity, MSY is Australian stock with Sony warranty.

    • do you guys know if MibiCity pays GST? I'm going overseas in two month and after the TRS

  • sony AUS warranty, that's good good price!

    • Should point out that Sony Aus warranty is 24 months too, woo woo

      • It says

        *1yr Sony Australia Warranty.

      • And here's the link for Sony Xperia Z

        http://www.sonymobile.com/au/support/phones/xperia-z/support…

Go to warranty and have a look…

        • its standard 12months warranty, and then theres another leaflet in the box that includes an extended 12 month AU warranty. So thats 24months total

        • Thx for that. I was looking at MSY pic it says just 1yr, and then the Sony site.

        • +1

Yep can confirm what jasonlah has said, got a Z from jb hifi and the leaflet inside says 24 months warranty for the Australian stock.

Anyone know if they stock the purple version?

  • Mark-F do you work for Mobicity and you can confirm that they are Australian Stock?

    • Mobicity is not australian stock. You get 12 month warranty from mobicity not sony. All mobicity product are drop-ship from oversea so there is no GST on mobicity purchase (unless your product is more than $1000 which you have to pay tax on top of that price). Just buy from MSY if you can.

    Dont waste your time.

Well seeing as they never pick up their phones, I guess we'll all have to go in there and find out for ourselves lol

    • I have one that I bought for my wife but goes unappreciated.
      It is brand new.

      Message me if you want.

  • Where did it say $519? I'm not seeing it on the link… I see that it says cheaper in store, but where's the price? Which store did you call up? I'm thinking of buying from the Sydney stores.

Thanks OP, it's a really good price, I have one and want to buy another for a friend overseas.

MSY have the worst customer service, however have very competitive prices. Makes dealing with them worth it

    • that must be certain stores, i have never had a problem with the MSY at varserty lakes and Brendale, neither has my dad so that must be certain stores

      • +1

MSY are quite renowned for their pathetic customer service. Most stores I've been to are reflective of this.
However, beebafeeva makes a good point that their prices are usually very competitive..

I've always thought of the service that MSY provides as similar to that of a chinese take out shop

        1. The lines are always long (and might smell of sweat on a hot day)

        2. The popular brands are always out of stock. No exceptions. 50% of the time you'll go home empty handed.

        3. The shop is always busy during peak hours

        4. The phone goes un-answered

        5. The person who serves you only knows how to count money, give the correct change and give you your merchandise, and is absolutely not paid enough to answer your silly questions.

        6. You must know what you're going to order before you get into the line, or you'll end up pissing off the others behind you for holding up the line. Expect a punch to the back of the head if you ever go 'oooo, this looks good, maybe I'll get this, but ahhh, what if this brand had better reviews"

        7. But at least everything is cheap…

        • Lol this undoubtedly reminds me of an experience at a Chinese restaurant. Best cheap food at the cost of customer service.

  • the downside of msy customer service imo only requires patiently waiting in line for understaffed sales. in my experiencce when pushed on subjects some know quite a lot about the products they sell…i'd rather deal with their aloof don't give a ____ what you buy attitude than other chains who are staffed by people who claim to know a lot. a uniform customer experience based on populist market research is not what a diverse society needs.
while in the frustratingly long lines i've witnessed abuse, arrogance, sexist and racist remarks from customers…not to mention technophiles or intel/amd fans raving on about how much they know in a condacending tone to staff. every msy post here seems to generate negative response…its a different experience and it's probably not as polished or user friendly as other retailers but give them a break.

  • Are the benchmarks and specs equivalent to the One and S4?

    • Yes pretty much, with the added waterproofing feature
