This is better than the BigW toshiba's HDD. Unfortunately this is not for all HN stores.

    • +1

On a per GB price the BigW deal still comes out better at .06c per GB (this deal .061c)

      Still both great deals

  • the address says its not the main store but the blowout store next to Demir and Supercheat Auto

    • Actually it's their warehouse and not their blowout store. 164 Adderley St runs parallel to M4.

      It's a warehouse sale.

      • its down the road a bit? been thinking about a drive

        • Yes, nearest cross street is Skarratt St South.

        • Is their car park entry off Parramatta Road or Adderley St?

        • +1

Adderley St, it's a warehouse plus they have onsite parking.

    • Its the HN Big Buys 'warehouse', not the main HN store.
GH had a hissy fit when he saw the business he was losing due to parallel imports and he opened this, and also a games/DVD website which is operated out of Ireland I believe

  • So, HN won't honor this price..and can't find any Big Buys shop around Gold Coast. :|

  • Any one price match via Officeworks?

  • can this open and use for laptop ?

    • yes, sata seagate disk inside. And you get a GoFlex USB to SATA cable at the same time. It can be used to connect any 2.5" sata HDD to your computer directly. And if you are patient, you can get an undamaged case also.

      • The drive inside is a Seagate ST9750422AS.

        9.5mm, 7200RPM, works with PS3.

  • very good, just a little bit too far.

  • +1

Perhaps it's only the Auburn store. I rang up the Springvale Big Buys store in Victoria, and they said they don't carry any HDD at all.

    • Thanks tekken, saved me from making a trip there :)

    What exactly is this thing?

"Seagate GoFlex" (and even the "Freeagent" on the sign) are just brand names, not a specific model.

Not trying to be difficult - just want to research what model it is.

    • As I know, 2 versions of GoFlex 750G. The one sell at Officeworks, Drive only, no cable included, you need to buy a go flex cable separately to use it. And the one sell at Harvey Norman goes with GoFlex cable included.

      • Hi guys,

It comes with the GoFlex USB3 interface adapter and an 18-inch USB3 cable, that helps.

Model number STAA750302 if that helps.

  • That shop was once to be Harvey Norman clearance outlet. SO guess the boss there still interested in getting some discontinued products from Harvey Norman. Also almost all Harvey Norman randomly has clearance items in their clearance baskets. Almost all this kind of clearance are local store only. Other Harveys never match this kind of clearance.

  • Thanks OP. Picked one up.

  • So I guess the chances of getting this deal in Melb are pretty slim??

    • So I guess the chances of getting this deal in Melb are pretty slim??

      Zero

This is NOT part of the normal Harvey Norman chain stores - it is a specific clearance outlet in their warehouse complex.

  • while i'm near Auburn drop by 2nds world and MSY computers to see deals there.

  • I am going to check it out today, no guarantees but I am happy try buy a few and post to other/out-of-town OzBargainers (at your cost) if any left. Let me know, thanks.

    • I'd be interested in buying one if you get an extra. Can meet up in the CBD. I'll also give you some teabags and dog treats.

  • I too am willing to buy an extra one or two for other OzBargainers if anyone who doesn't have access to these would like some. Just send me a message and if I receive any when I'm there (assuming there is stock) I will pick up some extra.

Currently basket full left even after I buy a few, suspect they're bringing more out as they go but checkout queue really long/slow & really is a warehouse http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/77509/17785/20130811_12…

  • +1

The basket is getting fairly low but still a decent few left.

  • +1

All gone. Last 11pc taken from the bin just after I grabbed my two at 1.44pm.

  • +1

    Empty bin is very empty.

Long queue to get out is long (enough time to take a pic and upload, do two comments… and STILL not at registers)

  • False alarm, folks. They've just added another THREE CARTONS on the drives to the bin. Now, they just need to add another three checkouts ;-)

    • …annnd it's empty again.

      • +2

…..and now another 30 units appear! Don't stress people, this basket is like geek equivalent of The Magic Pudding. It's like they have pallets full of them out te back. Ooooh! Register time!

        • You guys are hilarious :D

  • I would love for someone to get me one and post it to Jindabyne. How much do you think postage would be? Or else, I might hold out for another sale :)

    • I would be happy to send you one from my local post office at cost if you can calculate/suggest how we might do this dependably (given we have never met) while minimising my effort. Happy to supply my bank deposit details but would not want either of us to be out-of-pocket.

BTW, according to the really nice and helpful staff I spoke to in the long checkout queue it was the first time that warehouse has recently had such a trial sale and is not likely to happen more regularly/often than perhaps once a year depending on success/cost-benefit management review. I bought the following spit roast BBQ for a friend http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/77509/17792/20130811_12…

  • Thanks OP.
When bin is empty, one can go check with the warehouse guy, they replenish stock from time to time. For those who would like to know more, it is FreeAgent Goflex, ultra slim (14.5mm thick), 7200 RPM, SATA/300, manufacturing date Jun ,2012. 3 year warranty. Takes cash, Visa or mastercard. On site parking.

  • Thank you OP. Great deal and there are heaps but don't wait too long. A reseller bought 120 of them apparently. I was there talking to one of the staff. I might sleep on it and buy a couple more for friends
