  • Great find, saw it on the Ozbargain app I just purchased. Thanks!

  • Grabbed it in case my Swype gets upgraded to something useless one day.

  • Damn. Didn't realize I had this already, and some months ago I decided to splash out the full $4 for the Play version.

  • Awesome deal. Go get it for everyone with an Android phone.

Voting negative because the Tablet version is not free, the version you point out is a lite or Free version, the Pro Tablet version cost $3.99 http://www.amazon.com/TouchType-Ltd-SwiftKey-Tablet/dp/B005D…

        Fairy nuff.
That was a decent fail on my behalf.

        • -6

It's also fairy muff, or furry muff

  • can someone guide how to get this on my phone?

  • +3

I must be the only person on the planet that doesn't know what Swiftkey is or does.

    I shall have a look.

  • Not exactly in the app store home Page
You have to search for it
Or else buy from Amazon website and search on app purchase list

I stopped using this after it started autocorrecting password fields (that it didn't recognise as password fields) and nearly got locked out

Amazing app, but I really CBF installing Amazon app store to get it

    • The Amazon App now works in Australia and no longer needs the old lengthy work around. (Not sure if that is your issue) Now simple to install and use.

      • wow, thanks for the update. Now I can actually tell people to get the amazon app store and not have to deal with them not knowing how to get an account.

  • +4

It's on the main page of the Amazon App store app (Free app of the day greatest hits). Right next to the Free app of the day.
    There is:
    Angry Birds (Ad-Free)
    CalenGoo
    Drawing Pad
    Jamie's 20 Minute Meals
    Paper Camera
    Shazam Encore
    Sprinkle
    SwiftKey
    World of Goo

    Ah, already posted (ofcourse!) http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114965

    • jbray ,

Can you please show me how to get from
      http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011
(this is what I see on my computer in Australia)

      to

the amazon.com page linked from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114965
, where it shows 10 apps free ?

I just cannot find what you said:
"It's on the main page of the Amazon App store app (Free app of the day greatest hits)"

I don't see the wording "Free app of the day greatest hits" any where on "Amazon Appstore for Android" main page..

      Please enlighten.

      Thanks a million.

      • I was referring to the "app" that you install on Android. When you open that app, it has at the top left one icon for the free app of the day (as it does every day), and then next icon along it has the greatest hits icon, when lists all those apps. See the other post which has a link to installing the app. Sorry, I don't know how to find these via a web browser.

  • Will go nicely with the Nexus 4 that everyone seems to have bought :D

  • Can I get the app without sign in or install the amazon apps?

    • Nope. You must have an Amazon account and their Appstore app installed on your device.

      Bluestacks. Nuff said.

  • I'm stuck on the purchasing process and nothing happening. Anyone experiencing the same!!!

    • +1

      Yep, me too…:(

  • Thank's for this.

Always need Amazon app store running in background which is a pain with all Amazon free apps

  • Glad that I didn't pay for this app. Tried it on my phone and it was OK then on android tablet and found that it doesn't give you the option for a split keyboard (it does for the phone).

    Back to Swype for me.

    • I believe that for tablets, to get the split keyboard layout you need to get SwiftKey Tablet Keyboard (i.e. the tablet version of the app).

  • Aaaah, can't believe I paid full price for it. But have been loving it since. It might be a bit laggy when used on my S3 when compared to stock but stock keyboard have no auto correct. Also, for everyone else just check out google stock keyboard as well.

PS: use only one language for auto correct or the program gets really slow.

  • Great deal, thanks OP.

  • Got this pop up on my phone " The Amazon Appstore is not supported in your region."
How do you get this app?

  • excellent deal. thanks for pointing out!

just as good is knowing the amazon app is also working for AU customers without the BS workaround :)

    double-bonus today!

  • Do the privacy issues concern anyone?

    • What privacy issues?

  • +3

Luckily I didn't purchase one on the 1/2 price run few weeks ago. Thanks op!

    • exactly what i was thinking haha

  • Thanks OP.
I thought this day would never come. :)
Best Android Keyboard for my use.

  • I've seen this on ozbargain a few times now and didn't know what the hype was. My Android keyboard lags all the time that I constantly find myself throwing the phone in anger. Just downloaded this and the keyboard no longer lags . thanks OP, +1 million

If it helps anyone… I downloaded the Amazon app store on my Android phone but couldn't download anything. If this happens to you just buy the app on a computer then go to settings (in the Amazon app store) then click 'my apps' then cloud then refresh and you can just click download from there.

  • This finally made me install the Amazon app store, now I'm even more tempted to get a Nexus 4, the 380Mb of storage on the old Xperia Play is just a little limited.

My problem with this app is its prevention of me using curse words… Swype allows me to swear freely, so I use that.

    • +2

It will remember what words you frequently use and adds them in.

      • It doesn't for me, maybe I've done something wrong. I've added words, then when I type it automatically changes it to a non offensive word, I have to select the curse word.

Google have implemented an option, where it automatically blocks offensive words, but it is unchecked. On SwiftKey for me the offensive words are switched but under Swype they are not. It is a known bug/problem.

Sorry to those I offend by sharing my findings, I'm not alone:

  • Get it now! Well worth the $4 i paid for it over a year ago.

  • although I still prefer Google Stock 4.2 kb for a few things - e.g. after pressing space on the numbers/symbols keyboard it defaults back to letters, and also when you you're typing and autocorrect does a bad prediction you can press backspace to make it go back to your original text (just the little things).. unless you can do this on SwiftKey too, but couldn't find anything in the settings

  • The Swiftkey I just downloaded from Amazon is Swiftkey 3 (Version 3.0.0.281) instead of version 4.2.0.155 as on the Amazon website.

But free is free. Can't complain. Thanks OP.

  • wont let me download it ?

  • can anyone let me know why is my phone not downloading the Amazon App Store?
I have one of the Huawei phones bought from Coles

    • Download the APK to your computer (you can use this link). Transfer to your mobile phone and then use a file manager to open the APK file to start installation.
Enable "non-market sources" in the settings when prompted.

  • can you link this to your play store account? Or do you always have to install amazon store to use it?

    • It links to your Amazon account. As you would expect, Amazon must be installed on your phone in order for Swiftkey to run.

      • ok then thx :) i think ill just wait for play store deal.

  • I clicked on that Swift key link and it seems to have charged me $3.99 in my Amazon account.
It listed it as a Pending digital order without the facility to cancel it.
    I don't want it?

    • You need to contact Amazon customer support. They don't have a refund facility, unlike Google Play.
