Nexus 7 (2013) 16GB $298.00 and 32GB $338.00 - Wi-Fi Only - JB Hi-Fi

270

A huge saving of $1.00 over the previously listed MLN deal, however starting to become available Australia wide.

I picked up a 32gb at JB Hifi Piccadilly Arcade in Perth this afternoon, and there were seemingly another fifteen units on the shelf (behind the counter) with another five on reserve.

Macquarie Park, Brisbane, Leichhardt and Chadstone also reporting stock here - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2132971&p…

There is a report of one being purchased for $335.00 from The Good Guys, however without proof, the $298.00 and $338.00 are the cheapest brick and mortar store prices in Australia at the moment.

Still nothing on their website, so will have to call your local.

  • Nice, this is even cheaper than the ShoppingExpress deal. I'm interested in the 16GB but it's not that much cheaper than the 32GB..

    • +1

I have a 16gb of the old model, and didn't come close to filling it.
However, with the Full HD screen, I may use this one as a travel video player, so the extra size could come in handy.
Plus as I'm going overseas within 28 days, with the TRS the price is similar.

      • Wow, really? Add a few movies and songs and you would fill that 16GB up very easy.

        • +1

My HP Touchpad is a 32GB and I've filled it with only three seasons of a SD TV show… :(

        • +3

I agree, I've got a 32GB. It's always quite full. I've got lots of games however it's mostly HD movies and video. I would suggest people go for 32GB to make full use of the screen.

Hmm.. Yeah I see what you guys are saying. I have a 16G iPad and it really depends on how you use it. I usually uninstall games that I'll never play again to free up space. I also delete episodes of series that I've watched.
@kwchaz yeah I can see the issue. But, I mean, you didn't have to put all 3 seasons on the tablet. One season at a time would suffice.

But considering the small price difference, 32GB is a great option.

        • lol. all three seasons, are you going on a long plane trip?

        • +1

I was travelling to Europe… so yeah. Long plane trips, long bus trips…

        • Add on a few psp roms in addition to tv shows and movies and the higher levels of storage are looking better!

      • +3

FYI the TRS now allows products to be purchased 60 days before leaving Aus instead of 30 days.

What makes you think all JB hifi stores have the 32GB for $328? I've been following that whirlpool thread too.

    • +1

      Would be a universal price.
The only prices quoted for JB were $298 and $328, and the unit scanned up at $328 when I purchased it.

      • Well that's just made up my mind about where I buy it.

        • +2

Would I like bacon with the egg on my face? Just realised it was $338, I was thinking standard price was $329. Now I get why you questioned it! Have requested mods update.

You can edit it yourself mate; click the edit tab up the top :)

        • Haha ok. I'm glad we cleared that up.

      That's 2012 model…

  • wow… ShoppingExpress $439 deal on LTE 32GB models was a great deal…
This is still a good price for WiFi only

  • You can order it directly from Amazon, it's AUD$281.32 delivered for 16G model

    • +5

it's worth buying locally for the warranty and consumer protections.

      • -1

        International warranty I believe.

        • So its not?

      • +4

Totally agree with this, hence why this deal excited me.
With the dead and frozen pixel issues being reported, the peace of mind returning a faulty unit to a local store is worth it.

      • +3

Plus think of it this way - if you buy it here you're spending less than $17 more and the government gets given an extra $27 through GST that they wouldn't otherwise. Whether you support the current leadership or not it's good to look after our own :)

    • Personally I've been holding out for local stock. Since I am travelling overseas soon I can get the gst back, combine that with the ing 5% card and I'll be paying around $290 for the 32 gb from an Australia brick and mortar store. Can't really beat that!

      • ING 5% is for $99 and under purchases

        • +2

you can split payments or buy multiple gift cards

        • Yeah split the payments, I just got one by doing exactly that. Now to get my gst back. :-)

Oh yeah in jb they all are aware of the ING card, I was supposedly the third today to buy that way. Lol oz bargain ftw!

  • I went to indro jb this arvo and asked this angry matthew broderick looking guy if they had stock and he told me that jb or anyone else deals with asus. That stock is purchased through a middle man and nobody knows when they will get it. He also said hes been on all the forums like gizmodo and whirlpool and the people there dont know anything. Long story short, hit up cbd jb if your in bris.

    • Did he have a shampoo mohawk?

  • jbhifi macquarie centre sydney had 30 in stock but thought the $1 was not worth mentioning til reading do other stores have.

Only had 10 or so when i visited at 16:40 but, Price was $338 for 32Gb wifi.

+$29 shipping= same as aus stock price

      • +2

And with a more complicated return process in the case of faults, I would definitely rather buy in-store.

  • Macquarie centre (North Ryde) had a pile of about ~6 boxes left behind their counter when I went to get mine, so far it's awesome

  • Confirmed. Just purchased a 32GB from JB HiFi Melbourne Bourke St store (near Russell St) for $338. They said they won't be stocking the 16GB model.

    • The 16GB was originally added to the JB Hi-Fi system, but is now quit and (brick and mortar) stores will not be stocking it.

  • Well how long did it take for the first nexus 7 to go on sale.

I sort of damaged my dual core tablet yesterday. And totally trashed the screen trying to open the tablet to fix the first problems, which i sort of managed to fix lol.

Lol need one of these babies on sale more than $1..

  • Can confirm this is now on their website, with usual free shipping:

    • No LTE?

  • Have to admit I'm tossing up between this and a bit more on the Tab 3 (I really like the IR blaster and remote app!)

  • -3

    They don't have LTE
    total fail.

    • Same price at Harvey Norman now.

      Any display model?

  • Am I the only one who can't find the 16gb models in retail shops like DSE, BigW, JB, and EB? Apart from shopexp (which is online) where else can I drive and pick up the 16gb model?

    • I also want to know this. I can't find the 16gb around except online.
