I can't believe that they are still offering that with all annual fees waived. I thought they were going to shut that down.

It's not really a gold card, except in colour. It has no travel insurance or any other gold card benefits. It's a bit deceiving.

  • OZBARGAINED!

  • Was gonna register my supplementary card too, but was distracted by work!!

    • +1

You meant your work was distracted by ozbargain?

    1. I registered my American Express Qantas card, it let me register, however in the terms and conditions it says only bank issued card (which this is not). Assuming it let me register, am i safe to assume I am eligible, or am I risking not getting the $50?

    2. If I spend the $250 at Woolies do they have click and collect in stores near Adelaide, or would I have to pay delivery? How much approx delivery fee would I be looking at?

    Thanks!

  • 1 silly queston, if bigw does sell gift cards online, how does amex know if we buy $250 worth of gift cards?

    • if bigw sells gift cards online?

      they don't

      • they sell village and iTunes I think

  • +2

Great find. Finally I can justify checking OzBargain 200 times a day!

    • +3

      Only 200?

  • +5

Purchased $250.88 of groceries on Woolies Online.

    So I got:

    1. $50 cashback from Amex deal (Spend $250 or more woolies online)
    2. 1250 QFF points bonus from the other Amex deal (5 points per $1 spent)
    3. Standard 250 QFF points for everyday rewards for $250 spend
    4. 750 QFF points bonus everydayrewards deal that got emailed to me (250 bonus points if you spend over $120)
    5. Standard 250 QFF points for paying by amex qantas card (1 point per dollar spent)
    6. 4c litre discount voucher (which i will use as I use the 5% off wish gift cards through entertainment book to get petrol)

Got free delivery as well (wasn't sure why, but then I got an email today with a free delivery special so it must've used that)

So all up would've made just under $70 or so :)

Bought 95% specials on the online store, as regular prices are jacked up compared to instore (eg my coffee pods were $8.48 online, compared to $7.99 in store)

    Pretty happy with that.

  • whilst the promotional/advertising text seems to imply that the $250 does not have to be spent in one transaction, please note the wording of the terms and conditions - https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/AU/en/woolworths-2013

    A. The Offer

If you register an Eligible Card (your "Registered Card") through the registration page and spend $250 in an Eligible Transaction on your Registered Card at Woolworths Online, Masters Online, Dan Murphy's online and/or Big W online stores in Australia between 00:01 (AEST) on 19th September 2013 and 23.59 (AEST) on 22nd October 2013 (the "Offer Period"), you will receive a $50 statement credit.

ie. an Eligible Transaction = one transaction

of course it might just be like earlier offers that were supposedly only eligible for those invited to register…

    • i think you are wrong.

an eligible transaction does not mean one transaction.

      imo, it means..
      1. $200 big w online purchase + $50 dan murphy online purchase.
      2. $1 masters online purchase + $249 woolies online purchase.
      and so on..

      as stated in the t&c
      C. Eligible Transactions

      Only valid transactions made:
      1. on your Registered Card;
      2. after the date you register your Card; and
      3. Directly at Woolworths Online, Masters Online, Dan Murphy's online and/or Big W online stores are Eligible Transactions.

The following are not Eligible Transactions:

      • Purchasing the merchant's goods through a third party, such as through a department store, concession store, online aggregator such as Paypal or retailer
      • Purchasing gift cards from a merchant
      • Transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded
      • Purchases of smoking and tobacco product and accessories
      • Woolworths Online delivery fee
      • Online Gift Cards or Vouchers are excluded from the qualifying amount.

If I don't have $250 worth of stuff that I need to buy, does anyone see any issues with purchasing an expensive item and simply returning it a few months later for a refund to that card?

Now I'm just waiting for the bonus QFF points from the Amex and EDR deals.

    • Another one down for the second amex 5 points per $ spent deal that I also registered for.

Congratulations! You have completed all qualifying transactions on your registered Card ending in xxxx.

Your Bonus Points for spending at Woolworths online will be credited to your registered Card account within 8-10 weeks of an eligible transaction.

Just waiting for the EDR bonus points now (got the free shipping when ordering)

  • Big W have the XBox One preorder for $598, total amount is charged upfront. Kmart have it at $579 and customer service at Big W said they would match any preorders up to the day of release (22 Nov).

So I could get an XBox One for $529 after the cashback. What do you guys think? It's unlikely an Aust retailer would go any lower than that by release day right?

    • I think that would be a good idea, prices surely won't drop until after release. This has to be done online however, so I am not sure how you will price match Big W with Kmart online? Still paying $598 or $548 after cashback is decent.

      • You can price match by contacting them online/phone. That is what their customer service has told me.

  • Got the $50 credited thanks OP

  • thanks, got some beer via dan murphy's click and collect :>

  • Did anyone do combined purchases and get $50 credit?

    • +2

Yes i did., got my money

      • can you share some details on your transactions please? I did two separate purchases ($217 and $39) on woolworths online a week apart (last one on the 7th Oct) and have not heard back on the cashback. The promo page says cashback will be processed within 5 business days. :(

      • Mind sharing a bit more details? Two separate purchases from the same retailer?
I bought $250.50 from woolies but they're refunding me $2 for something they run out of stock! hopefully this won't stuff up the cashback! :(

        • +1

based on the terms and conditions, refunds will void the transaction. I had a refund due to stock availability of an item too and had to make another $250 purchase.

  • What do you buy? I couldn't find anyting worth buying in BigW or Master and don't want to spend $250+ on alcohol.

    • Capilano Honey 2.5kg pack for ~$20 each
Sunbeam Saltanas 1kg pack for ~$7.xx each
Cold Power 2kg pack for ~$7.50 each (last week special)
Toilet Paper 24 pack for ~$11 each
Schweppes Lemonade/Pepsi/Solo, 3x24 can pack $30 (last week special)
Coke 24 can pack $12.94 (current special)

    • Last week had some decent specials from Woolies and was also perfect timing for my son's 1st birthday.
Bulk bought some Corona, Schwepped 3x24 can pack, Huggies nappies, Betty Crocker cake mix which put us over $250, added a few more items that had a decent special price that we regularly use and we were over $300 - free shipping :D

      • Awww, Happy Birthday to your bubbs 1st b'day!

I also bought some beer too, but my purchase was just over $250 so received free shipping!

        • Cheers :)
He slept through most of the party though lol

  • Am I the only one who missed the "ONLINE ONLY" part? Thankfully I didn't spend the $250 yet.

  • Why is it that an organisation like AMEX can offer these sort of promotions but then leave you with no way of getting in touch with them when something goes wrong or you need to ask a question.

I wanted to clarify one of the terms and conditions regarding the offer and how it affected my wife's credit card which we registered. The card is a secondary card to my account and was successfully registered before the promotion expired.

I used the primary card to make a purchase at Masters and got the $50 credit back the next day!

We held off using her card because of a statement in the original posting that stated "only one statement credit for each registered card".

I didnt have a clue what that meant and could not find it in the terms and conditions.

Rang my bank. They had no idea about the offer and couldn't help me. Then I rang AMEX. The said that they could not help as I need to speak with the card issuer (being my bank).

In the end, I couldn't get anyone to answer a simple enough question and nobody want to know about it.

Surely AMEX and its partners should provide contact details with any offer in case of problems!!

    • Contact Amex Network as they run these promotions, not your bank, not American Express, not Woolies etc

      https://amexnetwork.com.au/

Did you contact them or American Express, as they are two different entities (in my understanding).

      • Just tried that and similar result to before.

Going to the "Contact Us" link takes you to a page where you select you credit card provider.

Selecting the provider then takes you directly to the bank's own web site.

        Around and around I go!

        • +1

The only explanation I can think of is: actual Americans are indeed running AMEX.

        • +1

          I tend to agree.

We'll we have made our $250 of purchases at Woollies online with the second card…..see what happens.

At best, it will all just work and I'll be very happy.

At worst, we don't get the $50 credit back and have stocked up on six months of dunny paper and breakfast cereal.

    • "only one statement credit

      only $50 once

      for each registered card"

if you have two registered cards then each can only receive $50 once

one statement can have many cards - primary and secondary :)

  • Anyone still haven't received their credit back yet. I purchased an item from Master almost 1.5 weeks ago now. It says that they will generally process the credit within 5 business days but was also told that it can take up to 8 weeks.

    • I made purchase of an iPad Mini from BigW using their Click & Collect. Ordered and paid with ANZ AMEX card on 8 Oct, collected the item on 11th Oct. It is 10 days now and I still haven't seen the the $50 credit amount on my account yet.

      • It might be processing speed of the retailer and not Amex?
I made purchases from Woolies on 01/10 and was credited $50 from Woolies the next day.

        • don't think so… I bought on the 7th from woolies too and am still waiting for the cashback. This is on ANZ AMEX too so maybe its ANZ bank??

        • Maybe it depends on the card issuer. Mine is with Amex but under CPA. Or perhaps it's to do with the more recent transactiosn that being delayed.

        • Ah, ok, yeah maybe it is the card issuer. Mine is an Amex issued card (Amex Discovery card).

  • My purchase with Woolworths on 9/10 - still waiting for credit. :(

The first one (supp card), got the credit quickly enough - think about 8 days… but the second one has been 12 long days. :(

    • I think they slowed down from purchases frome early October. I bought on 5/10 and still waiting for it. I think those who got the credit back quickly, made their purchases earlier on.

  • I just made an order then, but the charge hasn't come through on my AMEX.

Surely even if the transaction goes through tomorrow, I'm still eligible for the cashback, correct?

    • You should be. For me when the purchase shows on the statement, it normally shows the date of the original purchase date.

    Thanks all

  • No idea how Amex processing the cash back. I used my supplementary card which was also registered and the cash back was credited within 3 days. My other purchase on my card, have not been credited yet.

    • Mine was credited 5 days after the invoice date. Thanks OP.

  • I'm still waiting for my credit despite meeting the criteria over a week ago.
I've written to Amex to see what the issue may be.

    • +1

      Their response:

There has been a slight delay in credit processing times, However
As stated in the terms and conditions statement credits can take up to a maximum 8 weeks.

Statement credits will be credited to your Registered Card account and are not redeemable for cash or other payment form. Credits may take up to 8 weeks to issue but generally, they should be credited within 5 business days upon confirmation by the merchant of the Eligible Transaction.

      • I filled up the contact us details at Amexconnect twice and never heard form them at all.

So called them and the first person I spoke to told me the same thing that it can take 8 weeks. I called again and the second person I spoke to said they will escalate my claim and will get back to me in 3 business days. So hopefully I will get it soon.

    • I finally got my credit on 29th November, without any further action from me.

  • Still haven't received mine. Called up support and they are absolutely clueless. I got the impression that they thought I was trying to scam them out of $50 even after I gave them the URL of the Amex Network where I signed up. She has apparently passed on my details to her supervisor who will no doubt pass the buck onto someone else. Massive waste of time.

  • Very disappointed.still not got my money

  • Come back around 26th December (8 weeks since I met the criteria) and then tell us what the outcome is.

  • Well, still haven't got mine either.
