I'm thinking this is a good deal, given I can replace the HDD with a $90 SSD and add a another RAM in. What do people think?

    • Crappy build. The mousepad has aluminium edges which chip fingernails (short non-female fingernails) and the keyboard was faulty out of box

sounds great except there is no dedicated video card…

    • It hasn't got an SSD either…..

      that's because it's a budget laptop!

      • IMO at regular retail from DSE of around $700 - I wouldn't really call this a 'budget' laptop. It's only budget priced with discount and cash back. Personally, I wouldn't pay $699 - but at net $420, probably okay for the specs.

  • what's the resolution on this? 1366 x 768?

    • yes 1366x768. Bit of a let down for the screen size, but for $420 its not a killer.

  • 15.6inch WXGA ACer Cine CrystalTM LED-LCD 1366x768

  • I bought one from the last deal for my sister and yes build quality is a little lacking but for this price it's not a bad lappy. Just be careful taking off the plastic tape around the screen, it pulled the bezel away on the one I got but it clicked back together ok.

  • someone posted the deal before, isnt it? looks so familiar….

  • I've seen some warped Acers's who have never left the desktop, so I'm a little wary of this one.

Can anyone give an indication of likely battery life?

  • The only thing i am worried about is the graphic card of this laptop
it seems that this one is intergrated graphic
any one know if they are good or not
    cheers

    • simple answer: they are good.
less simple answer: they are good enough.

or what do you want to do on this laptop?

      • Can it play warcraft 3 dota or some other ancient games well?

  • No stock it seems can't get it delivered or click to collect :(

  • checked it out in the store. the build quality is really poor. not as thin and light as i expected. (approx 2cm and 2kg) the price is good after trs and cashback, but still need to think twice. years old lenovo g560 (1st generation i3) still works fine at home, its certainly much thicker and heavier though.

  • Just picked up the last one at my local store, nice laptop!!! Very light and thin happy!

  • May be Dick Smith is clearing up the left overs from the last sale. I bought one for my self and paid using a $500 Woolworths WISH gift card(which I bought for $475 ).In my understanding this is really good value for money.
It is thin and light and battery lasts over 5hrs.

  • Was anyone else's order cancelled?
    I just got an email
