Although it's only cheaper than Apple's rrp by $11, it's still a bargain. The hunt's on for a better deal.

    • my first target was Target but unfortunately there is no listing on their website yet, I think it would be available very soon like today or tomorrow and definitely cheaper than BigW, probably another $10-$20 off. But, due to high demands and limited stock, I would rather go into Big W, they already have stock there, all you need to do is asking the staff to check and you will get one for being early-bird ^_^ (I got my iPad Air on the day it is available at BigW, they haven't had it posted on site and staff have no idea too lol)

  • Cant seem to see any of the new mini models listed on the Big W website. Cant even find the 16gb model without the direct link in the OP.

Any direct links to any of the other models?

up to this moment no, because they are updating their web listing, just head to your nearest Big W which are mostly open now and ask them for it ;), my personal opinion is the spacey grey looks better than the silver one ;)

Just drop by Big W and still no stock yet.

    • That's in December.

E-ink devices would be better for just reading

    • -3

but e-ink have no colour and the touch screen function is something like stone-aged :), got one and left it in the drawer for ages

      • +1

lol have you seen any novels recently? they are black and white as well ;p

        • +1

we all know, but my readings are researches with colours, can eink device help me with?no,so,i don't think it's funny of your lol :)

      • +2

If you are just reading novels then an e-ink reader provides a better reading experience and the lack of colour doesnt really matter. Particularly better for long sessions, much lighter devices, less or no eye strain especially at night, readable in full sun with less reflection, and generally much cheaper than an iPad mini. Better ones now also have front lit screens for reading at night and touch screens are getting better.

Check out the latest Kindle or even Kobo, especially the new Kobo Aura HD which has a 6.8 inch screen (not sure if its in Australia yet).

But if you want to ANYTHING else with the device at all, even reading graphic novels or comics for instance then an iPad or Android device kills an e-ink reader.

Amazon just launched the Australian Kindle Store.
Imo, the Kindles are still the best for reading.

www.amazon.com.au is now an official site.

Here's hoping eReaders get some love in JB's pre-Christmas sales.

        • Yeah a little pricey for an eReader, Bing Lee also have them for the same price it seems. Not sure if anyone else stocks Kobo in Australia?

    • +1

and a hell of a lot cheaper!

  • -2

dissapointing prices IMO. Target did $50 off the iPad air with their voucher, and Big W only doing $11 off the mini :\

    • -1

yea, i suppose when it becomes free, no one will complain.

      • +1

Not really, even norton anti virus is free after cash back people still complain about not getting paid to use it.

      • -1

I will consider using apple tablets if I get paid. Looking forward to the apple lovers negs

  • well, for 1 thing : it made the ipad mini (older version) cheaper.
I got mine for $180 off eBay.

  • -3

Big W do not have any stock yet. Apple say stock 5 to 10 days.

    • Can always purchase and wait for stock. Not everyone is trying to price match.

Such an egotistical deal description. Ate we meant to be impressed by you owning two iPad?

  • +1

So a software company posts a 3% discount and gets three negs as being 'too small a discount'
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122666

This is posted with a LESS than 3% discount off the Apple price, but gets 16 positives?? Surely this also comes under the ozbargain policy

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

Merchants should note that small reductions, excessive conditions, and other costs related to the deal will NOT be well received. Users will likely vote negative for your deals and moderators may BAN or restrict deals, reps, or sites that are not well received.

Based on this, I am negging this deal. Tis only fair!

I think you'll find that the expectation is that software will offer a far greater discount due to the minimal marginal cost of selling it. There are also many substitutes for software often even comparable products for free.

Whereas the iPad is rarely discounted, has high marginal costs and has no direct substitutes. The iPad is also a product that is of far more interest to the majority of ozbargainers than most software.

  • I got an iPad air, gonna get this one for reading lol

Can't you use your iPad Air for reading? It's only slightly bigger. What do you use the Air for?

    • my Air for home using and mini for traveling around ;), we have few iSheeps at home lol

    • apple nuts have to have everything.. nothing less than apple for them.

I have a galaxy s3 and will be getting the mini for e-reading and web browsing.
