Maybe they sourced a whole bunch of pre-owned titles from when GAME shut down and are using them to fill back orders. It wouldn't surprise me :p

My neighbour had a garage sale today and two guys wearing blue shirts came in asking him if he had any games for sale.

I think their new theme is Mickey ears for the Disney Land lucky draw

Still no idea what's happening with mine despite calling & emailing so I lodged a complaint with ACCC and spoke to DoCEP (WA Consumer Protection).

DoCEP advised the same that a number of people have already mentioned; The Good Guys shouldn't have been selling stock they didn't have, the current delivery wait is unreasonable etc. Unfortunately though, the last point of resolution is to return you to the previous state (ie. refund the purchase). DoCEP can't strong-arm them into sourcing from other suppliers to fulfill the order.

Anyone in WA received anything at all? Last update was that it's being processed in Belmont - nothing further.

    • +1

I put my order in at 5:30am (WA time).
I checked and none of the local stores had stock of the (2) games I ordered but the web site said I could still order them on-line.
Very surprised when it came back as being "allocated" to the Belmont store as I knew they didn't have stock 12 hours previously.
Still nothing other than the generic emails sent to everyone, no call, no missed calls, no email.
My phone number on PayPal was wrong. I did email them and messaged Carla before she passed away to advise the correct phone number but for all I know they are still trying to call the wrong number or they called it once and gave up.

      • I did a phone number change via [email protected] and my details were updated and I did receive a call.

To be honest there is no point waiting for a call as all the info you need is here… You'll either get some games or you wont. What isn't delivered you'll be refunded and receive a gift card.

I'd just hang tight until next Friday and if nothing happens call them up.

    • Nope - I got the Belmont processing too.

  • Call today from good guys, Asnwered by someone else at house as I wasnt there; Will get Pokemon Black 2, I guess thats confirmation of the email; possible wait for a week or two on other game, no mention of gift card.

    Just received this email

    Dear Valued Customer,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding with regard to your order placed on our website during our Video Game Clearance on the 19th November.

This email is to provide you with an update on your order.

    · TODAY: many games have been shipped to customers, with more to follow

    · NEXT WEEK: we have sourced more stock from suppliers and have been promised delivery

    · NEXT WEEK: you can expect a full reconciliation of your order via email

    · NEXT WEEK: if we are unable to fulfil your order, in full or part, your refund will be processed

Any hold up on deliveries or refunds is not deliberate. Our Customer Care Team has been working to contact all customers affected with confirmation of order status.

If you have already received your game(s) in the mail from us, we thank you for your business. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions for clarification:

What does it mean if my game is dispatched?

It has been sent to you from one of our stores. It is common for us to ship an order in parts.

What does it mean if my game is on backorder?

We are still waiting for the supplier to confirm if they can provide more copies to us.

What does it mean if my order or a game on my order has been cancelled?

We have been unable to source a copy for you and you will be provided with a refund.

What is the $40 gift card about?

Customers who have needed a refund for any games in this clearance sale will be provided with a $40 gift card for their disappointment.

Is a Chrissy Credit separate to the $40 gift card?

Orders that qualified for a Chrissy Credit during the clearance sale were sent a Chrissy Credit regardless of the outcome of their order. These were sent via email on Thursday 28 November 2013.

    Kindest Regards,

    The Good Guys

So why did some people only get $20 vouchers? Also it was my understanding everyone would get those vouchers regardless of whether their order was cancelled or not?

    • I like how this email gives you no way to respond.
I'm pretty sure all games sold are available on shelves New at other stores. If they truly wished to fulfill their orders they could purchase them from other retailers.

  • +8

"Pay cash and we'll slash the prices" - Wouldn't mind just actually getting a product I paid for.

    • +1

Nah, my local store say they don't even do that at all.

  • Does anyone know if the gift cards can be stacked? I made 2 orders and none of my orders were fulfilled (except maybe for pokemon black) so I'm thinking I will get 2 vouchers.

    • +1

Should be, it says "treat as cash". Its not like you have to use $20 bills separately.

      • Wow you received yours already? That seems to be the only thing they've done fast in this mess.

    • +1

Not sure about if you're buying online but you can definitely do it in-store. I used a heap of gift cards at once to buy an iPad (from the Australia Post 10% off gift cards deal, thanks OzBargain!).

  • Slower delivery/ postage then overseas what a joke

  • No sign of Couriers Please yet… Although I often see their bright yellow vans around my area…all the time actually.

    Maybe next week then…

  • Got my partial order today..had ordered 3 wii games and got one of them..to my surprise the game was not sealed and had scratches and dust all over it..and there was a big sticker on it it saying - supplied by All interactive Australia…seems like that's the supplier..

    • +1

You know I was kind of joking when I said that GG might have got a load of old GAME pre-owned stock from the liquidation. Then I found this page on All Interactive Australia's site - http://allinteractive.com.au/index.php?page=Exclusive_Distri…

      • great… i guess we can expect some scratched up discs and cases then!

      • That is so old that page!

        GAME?

There have been a lot of recent posts about our Game Clearance Sale but now it is time to clarify a few things.

Firstly, we have been willing to accept criticism without reservation about the Game Clearance Sale.

The post-sale was not managed as well as it could have been and we have learnt a lot from this for the future.

As previously communicated, we are doing everything we can to honour as many of the orders as possible and personally contact everyone who placed orders.

What is not acceptable are personal attacks on our staff especially when the attacks are based on totally (and possibly deliberately) misquoted twitter feeds from the personal accounts of those staff. For the record at no time did our staff ‘bad mouth’ Ozbargain on twitter as alleged.

Criticise us if you must, but leave our staff out of it. They don’t deserve hurtful, unpleasant (and false) comments.

This is our last post on this matter.

    The Good Guys

    • +25

Wow great apology. The only reason they got "attacked" was because of their severe unprofessionalism where they insulted us forum users. Your rep was being treated with the utmost respect, up until that point.

A simple "sorry" would have been better.

      • here we go…

      • +5

LOL TGG message makes it look like we are the bad guys. Anyone else thinks that's weird?

        • +3

reminds me of the Harvey Norman "Professionals" incident.

    • +12

This is probably going to snowball.

I think it is time for the screenshot of said tweet to surface. Would be good for some transparency.

      • +13

I've saved the screenshots to my desktop at work, won't be in until Monday morning now but more than happy to put them up on Imgur or Photobucket and post links to them, both here and on the GG Facebook and Twitter feeds, just so everyone involved can see them.

I can tell you what they say here though, but as I understand it the mods have deemed the subject should be dropped, and I don't want to get banned, so I'll wait for one of them to give me the okay before doing anything else, if that's okay..

And just to reiterate so everyone's clear on this, anything I posted in my original comment was freely available and publicly visible and I found the info and Twitter feed in a matter of minutes using Google.

Mods - I hope replying to this doesn't cause any hassle and I really have no desire to be banned, just felt that the GG's post should be addressed since I raised the issue in the first place. The only thing I'd appreciate you clarifying, now that the original post has been made unavailable , is that while I did address the GG PR by name in my initial comment on the matter I was not verbally abusive or intimidating in any way.

        • +4

Yes, I saw that post yesterday before it was removed by OzBargain. He wasn't being aggressive or insulting to her at all. In fact none of the other comments I saw were bad mouthing or attacking her, they were just saying it was unprofessional.

        • Mods = Awesome

        • Not okay. The person has already voluntarily removed her tweet. Any one here wants to remove your own comments as well? Get over it guys.

@Orpheus — the post was removed because of privacy issue. See my initial reply here. While the personal details can be found by googling, it's still inappropriate to post them on OzBargain.

    • +12

If you look back over what's being said I think you would see that nobody attacked your staff members. Just simply mentioned what may or may not have been said on the reps twitter account.

  • On another note has anyone allocated to the belmont store received their games or got a call or email?

    • Well, I know for a fact that Belmont don't have Pokemon Black 2.

    • I got a call this afternoon but only after emailing & calling them trying to get some answers. Still, it wasn't a 'your order is…' it was a 'we still don't know…' call.

    • +15

Are you another undercover GoodGuy agent?

        • +9

At this rate you will be banned pretty quick.

        • +1

I don't even have the heart to tell her that "sh*tguys" wasn't my pun.

I do feel I may have been channeling enforcer103 with the "undercover agent" comment so perhaps she could be forgiven.

    • +6

Nobody is really asking for free stuff, just what we have already paid for. And this is a site dedicated to finding cheap items or 'bargains' hence the name ozbargain. So Its to be expected.

      • I'm referring to the $40 store credit.

      • +5

Also, if we're told we're going to receive something (ie. the gift voucher), I don't think it's unreasonable that we would EXPECT to receive it at some point.

    • +15

So let me get this right.

"Long time lurker first time poster". You're really going to go with this? I've only ever heard of long time this when posting new bargains. Also, if you're a long time lurker, you'll have an account already, I mean pretty much everybody whom actively use ozbargain has an account. Unless you're telling me in all this time you were on ozbargain, you never bothered to create an account? Not likely.

You ordered $200 worth of items and are absolutely ok with TGG for holding on to your money for so long without any clear solution in sight? $200 is no measly sum, anybody else would be chasing down TGG and wondering whats going on. The lack of responses for TGG would anger anyone whom have had their money locked in.

Methinks a sock puppet you are.

Next time, try to make it sound more plausible. I shudder to think what else you might come up with.

      • +2

I used Ozbargain for 3+ years and only registered when I found a deal at HN I had to share afew months ago

        • Well, its not impossible but unlikely.

        • thats true :P

        • +5

What's the motivation to create an account simply to attack everyone? Seems like an angry person.

      • -4

Good one Sherlock Holmes. Just one tiny mistake, it's all wrong. I said the long time lurker thing to show how immature you guys are that I just had to create an account to point it out.

I.imgur.com/EHIHNBe.jpg here are my orders, none are duplicates. Couldn't fit the rest in.

"I shudder to think what else you might come up with."

  • +16

OK guys, just want to express my opinions on some of the matters

Re: goodguys-trying-their-best-to-source-the-games and ozbargainers-allegedly-acting-inappropriately, we are not impatient and frustrated because of the long wait time for the games to arrive, it is that we have been left in the dark regarding what happens to our orders and the uncertainty of whether we are going to get the games or not. If they are upfront with us as to the timeframe and keep their promise, then we are happy. There is no way for us to contact them to obtain such information and we are placed in passive situation of having to wait for the calls. Then, the call is not very helpful either. Here goes the frustration and angry. Take play-Asia in the "Last of us" deal as an example, they specifically stated upfront the long wait time before the order getting shipped, no one questioned. Things started to get worse is when they failed to keep their promise. It is worth noting that they promise to have the orders sorted out by today, but failed to keep their promise. I understand that they are trying their best, but as a business, they should have told us the longer (bus reasonable) timeframe than they anticipate to take into account some risks.

Moreover, it is also about the circulation of inconsistent information and they way goodguys handle the orders. Some said they are getting $20 or $40 gift card, some don't, some say they got the gift card regardless of the status of their orders, some only got it when their orders cannot be fulfilled, some said they got the game although ordered late, some haven't got it although ordered 1 min after the deal went up. It is about fairness and that no one should be treated differently. If the goodguys just sent everyone an email saying their policy with regards to this issue, and stick with it, then again no one is angry.

Re: rep-allegedly-bad-mouthing-ozbargainers, if it is true (someone said they he/she has the screenshot) then, if not taken personally, it is very unprofessional. Taken personally. We are upsetting about the goodguys as a business, and we also understand that she has limited information to share with us, which is not her fault but rather, goodguys' fault and despite that, she was very helpful. Hence, we treated her with respect, appreciated her willingness to help. But in return, she said negative things about us, behind our backs in a way that she should have been known that we are very likely to discover, it is simply disappointing, it is like your best friend has betrayed you. Yes, we used to treated her like she was our best friend.

What we also don't like is how the goodguys responded to this, denying her action and alleged us of circulating false information, as someone said already, a simple sorry would suffice, regardless of whether who is right. After all, you don't want to argue with customers.

    • +11

Now, the TGG's response to this might not be officially from TGG. It could have been the PR-Rep in question. It is given that she had access to TGG's ozbargain account. Its not too big of a leap to speculate it might have been the exact same rep that posted the 'response'.

The response sounds to me that there is a great deal of emotional overtones. This of course is entirely an opinion.

    • +5

Yeah. One need only look at the recent JB HiFi Sony power bank deal for the model answers as to how to handle an ozbargained deal.

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118375

We ozbargainers aren't hard to please, just keep us informed and don't try to bs us too much. But (alledegedly lol) insult us at your peril.

    • +3

I've shared the screenshot with Scotty, so he knows exctly what was said in the respective Twitter posts. At his request I won't post them here.

      • +1

        Beam them up, Scotty! :-P

        • +4

So can we get a ruling on this now…

          TheGoodGuysAU said…

What is not acceptable are personal attacks on our staff especially when the attacks are based on totally (and possibly deliberately) misquoted twitter feeds from the personal accounts of those staff. For the record at no time did our staff ‘bad mouth’ Ozbargain on twitter as alleged.

        • From the tweet screenshot @blankedboy has captured, I can confirm what TheGoodGuysAU has said. Two words frustration, and no where close to "bad mouth OzBargain".

        • +4

If that's all it was, why did they choose this odd course of action, rather than just coming clean in the first place?

        • +3

Furthermore, if that's all it was, why the need for such secrecy. Making such a big deal out of not letting the Tweet see the light of day made the situation worse. If it was nothing, we could have seen it and quickly moved on.

        • +1

Next thing we know, conspiracy theories surface because of this blatant cover up.

        • Because they are doing what's sensible to do when under attack on the Internet — don't feed the troll. I have seen the tweets, and I think all you guys need to move on.

        • +1

So we're all just trolls now?

        • Not all of us, just you.

          See what I did there?

        • Yes, I see what you did.

So I guess now I'm going to delete my posts, deny everthing, quit my job, and continuously lurk around here hammering the report button. Seems reasonable right?

        • Just do what JV does.

  • Did anyone never get any message after missing a call?

  • Maybe the GoodGuys had Zingy dealing with all the orders !

  • Wait so did everyone recieve that email above from the good guys? I didn't and no games or calls either.
I got allocated to Moorabin, anyone allocated to here and recieved games/calls?

    • i got Moorabin, had 1 phone call saying the obvious. Also got the above emails. Told the caller i didn't want a refund, got a feeling i'll be getting one anyway.

    • I got Moorabbin too, the store you were allocated to shouldn't matter as the orders are being done in a hub. Since I bought I've had 3 calls but haven't received the most recent generic email (is that a good thing?). Until yesterday I thought I was getting 1/7 games as it was on the magic list. I called up and got a confirmation of one of my other games in transit (2/7) with all others available in stock (plentiful supply, none on the list) with it in the process of allocation and that I would very likely be receiving all items some time after Thursday next week and well before Christmas.

      The 3 calls were:
      1. The initial call last week to say 0/7 would be available
      2. Call back 2 hours later to say one of the games on the list has 'just' become available.
      3. Call back on Monday "I believe you wanted an update on your order… We can't do anything more at this time… etc." - I didn't ask for this, and I only want an update with news…

Seriously the best thing to do is to call them if you are wondering, their line should be open now. Make sure they know you don't want a refund if there is a possibility of receiving stock when you talk to them.

    • Nope no new email just an allocation email. Also no phone call since my paypal number is purposely outdated.

    • I also got Moorabin. No games, no call, no above email.

    • I got Moorabbin as well. I didn't receive that email, the last one I got was that canned one from the weekend saying "These are the titles we will be able to source" etc. Haven't received a call since the one I got on Monday (which didn't tell me anything different). I also commented on their FB page and emailed their customer service address yesterday, and even though they told me they had 'escalated my request', I have not heard another peep out of them.

      • +3

have they been deleting fb posts?

        • +7

It looks like it, I'm seeing no complaints about the game sale.

        • +5

If it was the same PR team handling ozbargain and FB then they might have been. We all know that social media has been manipulated before.

        • +2

Yeah, looks like the consumers lost this time round. Just the fact that even though we aren't at fault we have no ground to do anything about it. They have my money and I'm so helpless - just can't get my head around that GRRRRR

        • How are you helpless? If you call them with your order number and ask for a refund they will provide it!

A backorder is a backorder. TGG aren't the first nor last store to put items on backorder if they have run out of stock. Accept it, or request a refund.

        • Err I did call them several times, they keep promising to call me back but nothing. And how about TGG not doing the right thing but I can't do anything about it? ACCC won't do anything, that's why I'm helpless. I'm not complaining about the backorder, I'm not happy that they are getting away with all of this. Thanks for trying to be helpful.

        • +2

So we need an ACCC for the ACCC?

          That's bureaucracy at work.

        • Did you ask for a refund when you called them?

I spoke to the people at the Moorabin store and they offered me a refund straight away for the games they couldnt ship at the time.

I chose to wait to see what orders they could fill first though. $10 games are $10 games no matter if they take 2 weeks or 10 weeks to be delivered.

There were a lot of quality titles for $10 in this sale. I wouldn't have purchased them had they not been at prices never seen before but if they can't fill them and I get my refund then I didn't lose anything.

      • +2

Just contacted them on Twitter as well, but same response: "Please email our [email protected] address". After emailing them again just now I got a template response saying "We have passed this on to our Customer Care Team".

        Can't help thinking I won't get a response to this one either…

        • +2

there is no point emailing. All we can do is sit and wait :( that or play the piles of games we have yet to touch :P

        • +3

That's the feeling I got, as well. But if that's the case, I'd rather they just say "Don't contact us, we can't be bothered replying" instead of having us waste our time writing an email that probably just gets deleted as soon as it hits their inbox.

  • I made my complaint to the ACCC.

I am still waiting on my refund. I think the best course of action will be to perform a charge back at your bank because I shouldn't have to wait over a week for them to process a refund!

    • Apparently ACCC won't be doing anything about it so the best thing we can do now is wait it out until we get something or go for a refund and receive gift voucher(s). I feel so powerless as a consumer these days, what ever happened to customers come first or the customer is always right, time to wake up watty.

      • The ACCC is useless. They were happy to chase down MSY, but won't go the big retailers.

We need a ombudsman for the retail industry.

  • The Good Guys have had ample time to fix this amicably via refunds (and honesty). I now think it may be time for PayPal disputes and credit card chargebacks. Sadly, The Good Guys have clearly stopped playing nice, and maybe so should we.

    • +2

Why get your money back? That is what they want. Less orders they have to fulfill. Cancelling your order would mean that it's one less person they have to supply too and one more order they can fix for someone else.

I say no, no refund and hang on for the game.

      • +3

Because I have no interest in an imported version of any game that has a secondhand appearance. I ordered what I thought was an Australian version, with the assumption that it is new and suitable for gifting. And honestly, I also would rather spend my money anywhere but The Good Guys right now. Even at Harvey Norman (shock!)

        • Chances are, the Australian version was imported anyway!

many Australian games are actually produced in the UK and then shipped into the country
          http://blog.iinet.net.au/high-costs-gaming-australia/

        • If you get secondhand games (other people included) and it was implied these would be new versions (which they would be if they were at market price before the sale) then you should be able to go to the ACCC (as powerless as they appear) for a False or Misleading claim. However it doesn't really say anywhere on the website (that I've found) that all products or the products in particular are brand new. You should be able to confirm whether the products are 'new' on the phone however and if the pre-sale price reflected the market price for a new game then we could assume it was new.

Also note that this may be the reason you get second hand games: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/12/selling-refurbished-goods-…

          From: http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/misleading-claims-advertisi…

For example, businesses cannot make false claims about:
          - the quality, style, model or history of a product or service
          - whether the goods are new

        • Maybe so, but we should get what was advertised or get a refund. I think you'll find that's the law. At no point was it mentioned the games would be preloved or imported versions.

People are showing so much faith in The Good Guys to rectify this mess. In a months time when nothing has changed and we still all have no games, buyers will all be wishing for a refund - mainly so they can spend it at the Boxing Day Sales where there are real bargains for stock that actually exists! The reluctance of The Good Guys to refund does make me wonder whether they are on thin ice from a business perspective ie. have cashflow issues. They wouldn't be the first to suffer that in their retail segment, just ask Clive Peeters.
