  • I am with them. They are slower than Eftel/Aanet. When my contract is up I am moving to Extel.

  • Or take http://www.clubtelco.com Unlimited and good service :)

  • Thanks guys.. I might need those credits once I've decided which ISP to choose. I'll pm you then…

  • extel VS clubtelco
    which one is better?

    • I think most of it depends on your exchange, and what you class as 'better'. For raw downloading clubtelco might be better, but during peak hours could drop out completely.

      • clubtelco = dodo lines = no thanks

    • Monthly prices may seem cheap but they whack you with a $50 annual membership fee.

  • +2

Offers not available for regional customers. Prices are +$30 for regional customers without the double data offer and no free setup. :(

    • Darn it! I have exactly three choices of ISP in my regional area: Spintel, Escapenet and Telstra (according to ADSL2exchanges.com.au). They are all very expensive ($90+/month for 200GB)

      • Clubtelco use Telstra infrastructure. I've been with them for 2 years due to there no contract plans and have found them okay.

      • try http://bc.whirlpool.net.au which will tell you not only who has dslams but every plan available to you from all the companies using those dslams
Also if you have spintel in your exchange the metro prices will apply to you, which are pretty darn cheap for 400GB inc line rental at $60. Mum has been with them for many years with virtually no issues, and they have been pretty flexible.

    • Negging a deal because it does not apply to you is a specific breach of the voting guidelines.

It also isn't Spintel's fault that Tel$tra charge an arm and a leg for regional DSLAM access, meaning they have to charge a lot more than when they can use their own DSLAMs.

  • My folks use Spintel. They are on the Gold Coast. Quite decent service from our experience.

Gonna up their quota for sure :-)

  • Same price as Telstra Business, but I get an extra 50gigs of data + free local & long distance calls. Might not be as good a deal for those who aren't regional.

  • For anyone who's currently with Spintel, note that the landline call charges have increased.

National calls use to be capped at $1 but are now capped at $3. Mum makes quite a few national calls to my Aunt per month and this tripling of the cap blows away the benefits of the quota increase and free modem.

Yeah, I know VOIP is cheaper but there's also more things that can go wrong there and my folks aren't that tech savvy to tend to VOIP issues.

  • What is Urban and MEtro and why is metro so much more then urban? I line in St Kilda (like 5 ks from CBD) and im metro which makes this deal useless..

  • Im with spintel for 3 years. Good pricing but slow. Just FYI.

  • I'm in Mordialloc. Vic (Melbourne metro area) and currently using Telstra ADSL2+. I'm getting a line speed of 6.91 Mbps and a download speed of 864 KB/s. I'm evaluating various ISP's as I want more GB's of download for my new smart TV (ozbargained - of course ! ). There are a lot of offers out there and working out the best value for money is hard enough but when you take into account variables like speed and service quality, I end up going in circles. I found this listing of interest, although they don't state the dates and numbers of votes: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/awards-results.php … also you have to wonder how many of the comments and votes have been spiked by lets say "parties with a conflict of interest". I think to a degree, that applies with Whirlpool as well. I'm leaning towards Internode and iiNet, although their unlimited plans are a bit pricey. Anyone have any better suggestions?

    • We're on the same boat. Been with 3 other ISPs previously and still haven't found the right one. Cost is my main criteria this time.

Since there are heaps of factors affecting the speed as mentioned on the comments above, it's best to try them first.

I live pretty much same distance from the city as you are (30+km NW), but luckily the 'Urban' with double data rates were available for me according to the agent when I rang yesterday, so I ordered the 40GB for $39.95. I'll cut the service off within the 30day cooling off period if I find the connection too slow.

Will see how it goes when the service gets connected within 2 to 3 weeks time as promised by the agent..

  • Been with spintel for a number of years now and speeds are getting slower as they sign up more and more people with these special offers. Offshore technical support in the Phillipines is slow so may have to rethink things when contract is up in July. Speeds have gone down to 3/4 megs from 7/8 in last few months. If speed isnt an issue and you dont download too much it may suit, just FYI.

    • I m with u. Feel the speed is much slower. And defly rethink my contract.
