That price is not realistic for the chest and trolley. Anyone know what they normally are?

    • +1

Its a great price! I bought two a year ago. They were reduced from over a hundred to $56 each. Old link: http://shopo.com.au/wp-content/themes/couponpress/thumbs/_tb…

I gave one as a gift and we put it together. It takes a little while but at the end it does what it says on the box and is solid enough. It's not made out of cast iron though. I'm not sure how anyone would scoff at it, especially at the price. What else do you want it to do or think it can't do?

I also saw the tool chest under another name.

I still have mine in the box. Damn.

    • How big are those toolbox's? I bought a Trojan one a while ago from bunnings when they were on clearance, been happy with it.

      • +4

        From the box…

        Unit dimensions: 615w x 305d x 1025.5h (mm)
        Tool chest: 614.5 x 266.5 x 339
        Trolley: 615 x 305 x 702

        • Many Thanks!

    • Anyone know what they normally are?

The catalogue link shows "60% off, $19.99 ea". So the normal price would be $19.99 / (100-60)% = $49.98 to the nearest cent.

      Dear Valued Customer,

Please note that the price on the GV Chest & Trolley combo in our email newsletter sent on 23 January has an incorrect price of $19.99. The correct price is $62 save 60%. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

  • Repco sold the same thing for $89 (supposedly down from $200+) a while ago.

  • Ill be grabbing that tool chest if i can.
might be weak but good if you are not into speniding 1k on storage and want something cheap.

    • Garage sales my friend. A deceased estate even better. Pick up quality tools and the like at ridiculous prices.

    • Just saw the price of that big GV Tools bessy. For $20 you can't go wrong. Unless the thing can't hold weight of your tools. Then it's useless. Still, 20 bucks…

      • +2

if i had so many tools that it would collapse id have enough money to get one worth a few hundred atleast.

  • Finally 30 grade oils on sale, thanks for posting OP.

  • what do ya guys think about the Sony Xplod Mechless Bluetooth Tuner for $79

    • +1

Does everything it says on the box but gets worryingly hot when powering aftermarket speakers. No regrets for the price though.

    • Great unit. Bought one last sale then bought another for th second car. Great sound quality, enough power and great with Bluetooth to just step in and out of the car/ auto connects and resumes play on music also. Good for the $$ Recommended

  • Thanks OP. Time to replenish my oil stockpile as I used my last bottle of Edge 5W30 when I serviced the car a few days ago.

  • +2

The tool chest was just on a tv commercial and shown for $69(i think)…definitely not $20..
So could be a price error

    • Just rang Repco about the tool chest combo, they weren't sure about the product or the price. They're going to find out and call me back. Maybe a pricing error after all.

  • castrol edge 5-30 should be now around $40….not bad but not as good when sca had it for $29

  • they will only have 4 tool boxes at the front of the store, and guess what, they're probably already gone LOL!! dont believe me? go check for yourself?

    • +2

My store had none at the front, plenty out the back though.

      • thats because they're lazy.

        • Not much room in the showroom at my local store. They did not have them out when I bought them last year either but had plenty in stock.

  • Epping Victoria store denied this offer they said they don't have any information about it so can you please upload some official link

  • Guys I just went to North Parramatta NSW and bough two they didn't know anything about it I had to show them this picture of the sale. But I got two for 20 each.

  • Can u upload the invoice?

  • +2

Bought the Chest/Trolley combo from Chatswood NSW. They had no idea about the sale, called Head Office or something and they said Legal/Marketing were looking into it. Still sold it to me for the advertised price. Was 4 left when I left the store.

Trolley price definitely an error. They refused to honour it in Vic.

    • Bendigo (Vic) honored it.

  • The Tool Chest Is A Pricing Error The sale price is $60 something dollars. My store honored it. I got a couple at the $19.99 price. These are good chests for the money, I got some last year and mine live in my car (CRV). I modified the wheels using a $19 supercheap hand trolley and I can take my gear almost anywhere now. A client damaged one last week on me and I was really annoyed. So pleased to get a replacement so cheap.

HANDY HINT: I got some rare earth magnets from Hobby King and stuck them to the back of each drawer. The magnetic pull holds them in place so they don't open in car as I go around corners.

If you can get them still at $20 it's awesome buying. At $60 something still great buying. I was happy to have paid $99 last year. Bunnings has the same thing with a different brand badge for $129 or $139 (can remember which).

  • Friend and I just bought 1 each for $19.99. Combo on the floor was still just marked at $167. Guy told us only one per customer

  • which store can u get it at still?
some have notification showing pricing error and won't honour it

  • How are the drawers in these cabinets? I recently went through the process of replacing my vintage Sidchrome tool set with a complete new set and spent weeks looking at cabinets and although I initially borked at some of the prices ($1000+) I quickly realised that the cheaper ones were just so flimsy, had so much flex and had such poor runner bearings that the drawers were sometimes impossible to open! You had to spend a minute or two 'zig-zagging' them out and then again to get them back in plus the metal was so thin that they were very easy to break into too.

I ended up blowing a stupid amount of money on a Sidchrome combo cabinet but it's pretty much flawless and should last forever. If these cheapies have decent gauge steel and the drawers run true & smooth then yeah even $60 is a good deal but alas from the ones I checked out in Repco a few months back I'm doubting it :( All I can suggest is that you give them a try first.

    • +3

Been using these cheapies with work for months. Never a jammed drawer or had to zig zag. I looked at the expensive ones but they said because I use them in my car, the drawer runner's warranty would be void (the jiggling buggers the bearings they say). So I bought these cheapies.

They run nice, never jam. Sure the $1000 version was really smooth. I only carry light tools and the heavier bits I put in the bottom. Still pretty good at a fraction of the cost. They seat home when closed, I use the magnets I suggested above because, braking, accelerating, turning heavy etc I found some of them opened occasionally if setup level in the car (which mine are).

Even at $62.5 they are good buying. Sure the $1000 jobbies are better - but they are 16 times the cost. If I carried heavy weight then they might be needed. For me these one are just fine and if they take a major hit or I drop one for some reason, I just replace them.

      • Nice review ShipShape! Sounds like they'd be a true bargain then, even at $62.50.

  • -1

for $20 its a cheap cabinet. If you want quality get a decent brand.

  • Repco indro/qld wont do it. They have a correction sign up.

  • Recpo Auburn on Para road NSW did not honour the tool chest.

  • +1

Eltham VIC were shocked - asked what the source of that flyer was. She is going to look into it and get back to me, which I can bet means it's not going to be $20… for those lucky enough to have the store accept the flyer as is, good on you!

  • Photographic evidence of the trolley chest pricing error in the electronic catalogue. Photos from Repco Campbelltown NSW store.

Correct ticket for Mechpro 143 Pc Tool Kit AF/Metric - Note the 60% off sticker and the advertised price of $115.00 after discount.

Correct ticket for GV Tools Chest & Trolley Combo - Again the 60% off sticker on an advertised price of $62.50. Confirmed with manager that $62.50 is the final discounted price.

  • They have a sign up at Fountain Gate on the chest saying it's not $19.99, it's $60.

No doubt this message will be delivered to all stores by now.

Out of luck those still looking to get in on this deal (or miss-print).

  • -1

Repco stores have received an email stating that the price is an error and will not be honoured.
Wonder how many went to the store just for this deal and ended up buying something else ?

    • I think it was a honest mistake, and whoever signed off on the advert at head office will be having a unpleasant meeting with the boss today! That person is gonna feel a whole lot worse than those that missed a further saving of $42. It's still great buying at $62. I was happy when I paid $99 last year.

    • +3

Why is this worth a negative vote then? there are still other bargains on the flyer that are worth getting which constitutes a positive vote even if the Chest wasn't a pricing error or on sale on the flyer IMO

    • +3

An advertised price was not honoured.
If posts like these aren't neg'ed, they will set a precedent where anything can be posted causing a wasting of time and effort by OzBargainers driving to the store expecting to find a bargain.

      • -1

will set a precedent where anything can be posted

wow, way to blow it all way out of proportion….. well done there champ.

the rest of the deals are available, i picked up the chest with tools in it. some have said they are honoring the $20 chest as well so your neg and your reasoning are as invalid as each other…. once again way to go champ. just because you were to slow or not good enough to get one dosnt mean the deal deserves a neg.

  • Just went to my local Repco and they wouldn't honor it, they said it was a pricing error and an apology had been sent out. They had it for $62.

Lucky bastards whoever got them at $20.

  • +1

lucky for those who managed to pick it up in the morning before notices went out

  • +2

Showed up at 8am at my local with a printout of the deal and after 15 minutes of discussion I walked away with the last 2 for $20 each. Excellent quality, good solid and heavy build.

  • Can confirm Emerald/QLD won't honour the deal - told pricing error.

  • +4

Ballarat Repco wouldn't honor it, friggin rude about it too. 3 good deals over last 3 months at repco, first 2 they had apparently "sold out" 3 hours into the day and this one not honored and abrupt with me for questioning it. Not going to waste my time with them anymore. Well done to the few that got one.

    • +3

Agreed. I too have been disappointed at the limited range and high prices at Repco, especially during their so-called sales. Except for a few stand-out specials like this I've found that I can usually get lower prices and a better range and more stock elsewhere. Such as shame as they were an Australian icon & success story for so long :(

    • They are not the most friendly bunch there. I have had some angry faces when asking for an advertised bargain previously.

  • +1

just bought 2 at repco balcatta WA for 20 each, no arguments, staff mentioned how cheap it was and were all happy.. there were 2 left after I took mine. 2 other smirking ozbargainers picking up two each right in front of me as well :) seems like at least this WA store hadn't got the memo yet, they were all totally unaware and said the list price was $62
Maybe some of the other WA stores are still waking up and haven't caught on, so try your luck!

    • Lucky you! Price fixed to $62 now.

    • +4

plus 1 for being one of the smirking ozbargainers in front of you…

      • LOL! excellent work. In the ute or the station wagon?

    • I went in at 9am and they had one left but had adjusted the pricing, i mentioned that you came in and bought 2 for the $20 and would she just do it but she wouldnt… wahhhh! :(

  • Seems like most QLD stores have been notified by head office regarding the pricing error and have put up signs indicating that they are now $62. I still ended up getting some Castrol 5-30 :)

    • yeah springwood and browns plains and coopers plains had the price error sign at the door as well in-store near the counter and on the product. if only they weren't notified by the head office for a few more hours lol, we could've gotten the tool chest ha!

  • +1

Got one in Victoria for $20, after I enquired they advised it was a pricing error and that they would honor it if I arrived in time. I drove over and the price was corrected already (9:45AM or so), but they agreed to honor the price.

  • Notice is up at Repco Blacktown. $62

  • How much does the 5w30 cost?

    • around $42, got one this morning, not as good as the $29.99 deal SCA had last year, but still a good price.

  • +1

    Just got this from email

    Dear Valued Customer,

Please note that the price on the GV Chest & Trolley combo in our email newsletter sent on 23 January has an incorrect price of $19.99. The correct price is $62 save 60%. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind Regards,
    The Team at Repco

  • Went in for a cabinet. Came out with no cabinet and got some penrite oil (on special at 47$) for my two cars because i didnt want to bother driving all the way home again without anything :/

  • +1

Just got two guy said that there had been a email sent saying it was a pricing error but gave them to me anyway, great deal.

  • Thanks op, FYI there were 4 left at repco on Anzac highway SA

  • +1

Called in to Repco Newcastle and they told me the price was an error but they have them for $62. Called Warners Bay + GreenHills + Gateshead Repco and all of them said they won't sell it to me for $19.99, but they are happy to sell it to me for $62.

So if anyone is in the newcastle area trying to chase one, I've tried all the ones close to Newcastle NSW. =]

    • Thanks dude, saved me trying

  • I actually managed to score one of those tool boxes for $20. got in there straight away. Really good quality compared to others I was looking at. Was going to grab more than one but didn't have any room.

Some great bargains in my store.

  • This ad is full of fail. Not looking at the trolley but asked a staff about that $69 Prolift kit but he does not know of it exist.

  • Anyone know how much the 0-40 or 5-30 castrol oil costs
