I tried to book the Best Western in Hobart after March and pre December and the code did not work.

There is no reference of participating hotels.

The deal did not work for me so I gave you neg.

I am glad I negged you because it obviously made you upset. Get over yourself.

Clearly says on the front page of website "*participating hotels only"
Not all hotels/hotel chains are "promo code eligible".
It clearly says when booking which hotels are.

Care to share what you were attempting to book?

    • Works for me. Just enter the 'EARLY' promo code when you enter your search criteria on the left, under "I have a promotion code".

      The results will say:

Congratulations! You have entered a valid promotion code. Eligible hotels are identified below with a promotion code icon. You will need to select the hotel in order to see your savings.

And the hotels where the discount applies will say 'PROMO CODE ELIGIBLE' under the price.

  • Hotelclub 14% off + start here 8% cashback + credit for next travel

    is better than this offer

    • Applies to the small few whom were lucky to become Founders and get that discount. Otherwise you start off at 4.5% and then work your way up to a maximum of 6.75% w/starthere.

So for the majority of people the 20% off RatestoGo is the better deal IMO.

      • Oh i didn't even realise I was a founder member

Fair enough then, I'm going to use this 20% off coupon to take advantage of hotel "best online price" policies

        • unless it's a price beat such as those of marriott or radisson, tingo has better policies :)

        • If you are thinking of a BRG directly with the Hotel itself, read their policies as the majority don't apply a BRG to the use of coupons, and the site being used for the BRG must have the same cancellation policy as the Hotel itself, etc, etc. YMMV.

        • Well the hotel I was going to go with told me that they will only MATCH the competing offer and only AFTER i have already booked the hotel…

How does tingo work exactly? I understand that they refund you $$$ if you find a cheaper deal but they only pay you the difference don't they? (I.e. they won't price beat)

        • You book your Hotel with Tingo and if the price of your Hotel booking drops between now and when you check in you get reinbursed the difference.

As per the Tingo site it says to contact them ref. the Price Match policy which you should do in order to find the instances in which they will price match (or won't).

Casually looking at a Hotel in Singapore on Tingo vs another site with a coupon, the other site was 20% cheaper (using a coupon). That means in order for Tingo to work out better in my case the price of the hotel room would have to drop between now and the check in date by 20%.

I'll take my discount upfront here rather than on the hope the hotel drops it's price by that amount by check in time. YMMV.

        • That means in order for Tingo to work out better in my case the price of the hotel room would have to drop between now and the check in date by 20%.

So what you're saying is that tingo won't match coupon offers from other sites correct?

        • tingo don't price beat - they price match including publicly available discount codes anytime until the hotel's free cancellation period ends :)

        • Ah damn, because the no cancellation rates are typically much cheaper (the hotel I'm looking at is about 20% cheaper for an early-bird no cancellation offer)

        • I've emailed Tingo to put that to the test. Will let you know the outcome. If so excellent. But I'm expecting caveats from them.

        • I also noticed that the BRG's of a lot of hotels require you to first book with them before you can lodge a claim.

This really sucks because there's no way to know beforehand if you're going to get a cheaper price

        • Just got my reply from Tingo-

"If you can submit information to us to back up the lower price that you found elsewhere for the exact same offer (room type, refundable policy, and dates), our team will review it for a price match guarantee."

Noticed the bit about "refundable policy". As other sites rarely have the same cancellation dates (they vary by a few days) I can see Tingo not honoring a price match and using that as an excuse.

But the only way to know for sure is to book with Tingo and see if they honor the price match, and if they don't then you hae to cancel your booking, wait possibly a month for a refund, by which time the other deal is gone.

To much of a gamble for me.

why not just book both if they give full refunds with no cancellation fees? :)

caution about using starthere for hotelclub purchases: "if you use a coupon that is not listed below it may not be compatible with cashback and may cause your cashback to not track or be cancelled."

in fact, i've been burnt before - received zero rebate cos i used a code not listed on starthere.

      • Oh wow, you're right!

Use these coupons below which are compatible with cashback for even more savings!

Heads Up…If you use a coupon that is not listed below it may not be compatible with cashback and may cause your cashback to not track or be cancelled.

        Thanks for the warning!

      • Heads up about cashback. I'm also registered on www.topcashback.co.uk
Clicked through from there and just look at the cashback percentage!!! http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ratestogo_uk/

So, even though it does warn you may not get it, in all I've saved 32.6%

BTW, their cashback rate for Hotels.com is 10.5% http://www.topcashback.co.uk/hotelscom/

The only payment option to get your cash out would be Paypal, unless you have a UK bank account.

If anyone wants to join Topcashback, I'd appreciate it if you joined via my referral link on the appropriate page here.

        • Mmmm, not sure if I'm allowed to post referral code as my old membership had been cancelled ( I'd forgotten about it) so had to join again in January :/

Was able to use for February dates

  • Does anyone know if Flight Centre will match the Ratestogo coupon price for accommodation. I have a Flight Centre travel voucher to use so would like to book through them if possible for a trip to Hobart.
We asked them if they would match Jetstar's price for airfare and they said they would match their price plus Jetstar's credit card fee booking fee ($8.50 per flight) even though we said we were would have paid Jetstar by direct debit which incurrs no booking fee!

  • Booked for July. Thank you :)
