Bought with a dodgy cleaner address in San Diego, and just received the product key. Thanks OP!

    • could you please help with check out? I can't process with a dodgy address like you did.

      • try using an electrician address:) rather than cleaner, it might work.

    • How do you add San Diego address,
      I'm getting following error;
The shipping address information we received from PayPal indicated that your address status is "unconfirmed".

  • Mine is still pending in PayPal. IDK if they'll allow me. I used a friends US address. :/

    • +1

I live @ a hotel in Las Vegas

BTW i used a Aussie Issued American Express Card

      • I wonder if there are a lot of rooms at that Las Vegas hotel? 8)

        • +6

enough rooms for all the Ozbargain community. Drinks are on me too :D and free poker chips. Escorts are extra $$

        • Plenty of AirBnB rooms nearby otherwise.

        • Oppps… I put hooters hotel in las vegas!

      • Could not get this to work with Paypal checkout.

        1. Added US address during PP checkout - it complains that address is not confirmed
        2. Used my AUS address - payment not authorised.

Shame coz this is a great deal.

    • Success! Does anyone know how long you have to activate it? I want to activate it when my Norton runs out in 6-8 months.

      • +1

        License shouldn't expire

        • Cheers, the activation key is very small. The key is 7 characters long.

      • +2

Success! Does anyone know how long you have to activate it? I want to activate it when my Norton runs out in 6-8 months.

anytime, you can use the code on updated versions too i.e Total Security 2015, 2016 etc when they are released.

  • What happens if you already have a subscription to Internet Security? Since this is Total Security, what happens if you add the code? Does it upgrade to Total Security, while I keep my remaining IS subscription?

  • First time digital download here. So I purchase, download it and activate with the activation code. How do I get it on my second pc?
    TiA

    • +3

So, all you have to do is re-download it on your new pc, and re-use the unique product code. Their servers will tell you if you've used the code too many times.

Isn't Bitdefender (Internet Security)still free for St George/Westpac customers? Just wondering if it's really worth paying $ for Total Security?

    • Not free for SGB anymore, not sure about Westpac.

      • +2

        Still free for Westpac customers.
        http://www.westpac.com.au/security/bitdefender-lp/

        • The website is there sure, but it never works for me. I sign in, go to 'security', and click the bitdefender link. All it does is open a popup at www.bitdefender.com.au and kick me out of online banking. Not sure if it's actually accessible.

        • @Alzori - just tried it - it works - got the code via email.

        • Yeah, I'm stupid. Searched email and I'd already received one. Herp derp, going to install it now. Thanks ATD :P

        • Is it still 1 yr or 6 months? How many times can you get a code from Westpac?

        • @lostn - 1 year. I recommend using a different email from the previous year. Last year I used the same and got the same code which it wouldn't accept.

  • I had issues getting this to work with my Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit.

    • Works fine on (same OS) on 2 computers in my home. What problems are/were you having?

  • Paypal option is not working. How did you pay?

  • Thanks OP. I had a Mcafee Total Protection for 3 PC's expiring in 2 weeks time. Bought this one to replace Mcafee.

  • how to make the payment via paypal or aussie credit card but specify US shipping address?
I used paypal with US shipping address but still failed.
    Please let me know. thanks

    • First login into paypal & save your favorite US address in ur address book

Then go to newegg, add product in your cart and use paypal as payment

      Success !!

        I've got this:
We're sorry. We were not able to process your order completely.

The shipping address information we received from PayPal indicated that your address status is "unconfirmed". Unfortunately, Newegg only ships to confirmed PayPal addresses at this time. If you would like to use PayPal for this purchase, you will need to update your PayPal shipping information to a confirmed address.

We encourage you to try again if you feel this message was prompted in error.

To opt for another payment method and proceed with checkout, Click here.

my paypal is verified but not sure about address unconfirmed.

edit: I already selected the US address by pressing the change address

      • +1

I tried adding a new address but it only allows Australian addresses?!

        • +1

You can only add US address during the checkout process. It works for me.

        • OK, that worked.

        1. Added a US address in Paypal account (on another page) then went to newegg checkout
        2. Added US address during newegg checkout

        Both did not work :(

The shipping address information we received from PayPal indicated that your address status is "unconfirmed". Unfortunately, Newegg only ships to confirmed PayPal addresses at this time. It seems I cant add a USA address in my account for paypal?

Edit: Got it, you have to pay via paypal first and then when it asks for an address just click Add address. :)

  • I just add US address on paypal checkout and it proceed . I got a key.

  • amazing work ! work with v.me with us address

  • what stage do you enter the promo code?

  • Did take a few minutes for the software serial to come through in the email, but so far so good :)

  • There is enough 'good enough' protection from viruses that is free, that I don't really understand why I'd want a 'total security' product from any vendor (including the free ones). Avira, AVG, Avast, etc. Plus other free tools such as Malwarebytes, etc.

The 'total security' packages typically slow down your machine more and have more problems. But this is a good deal regardless.

    • +2

i don't know about the others, but recently avast has become really spammy with "upgrade offers".

    • +3

I suppose the negative votes mean people aren't satisfied with the free offerings about? shrugs

I have been managing fine with the free stuff for years, and also recommending it to others. Sometimes there is some upsell, that's true. Easily avoided when you know what's going on. Personally I like to do a custom install too, so I get less of the fluff.

Microsoft also make the free antivirus, if you trust them with antivirus (and if you don't mind Windows Updates being a requirement to use their stuff).

Each to their own though. As I stated earlier, this is still a good deal regardless (if you can be bothered with the address thing). Maybe I have lost touch with the average user, but I don't think so because I recommend the free stuff to others and they seem to be (mostly) satisfied.

      • The problem is that 'good enough' isn't just that most of the time, especially if the end users are questionable in their usage habits.

Case in point; my kids have started using some crappy website to watch TV shows, which Vipre has picked up and stopped numerous viruses from. They now know not to go there, but would MSSE, et al have found this? Doubtful.. Not without it having already run/infected.

    • @cheepwun, Free AV software provided limited functions while some other software may fill the missing security functions but in this case you may need to install a couple of different security software to have a saver system. However some software installation require you to remove the existing one(s).

Malwarebytes is free and the free version doesn't come with real-time protection. You need to update the database and run it manually to scan your system. Its good to use it to scan and remove Malware but not to protect your system. Keep this in mind :)

Im working in IT, deal with computer issues everyday, and so I pretty confident to say, get one of the commercial Internet Security software + PAID version of Malwarebytes for better protection.

      :)

      • Yes, Malwarebyres free version for when/if the damage has been done and/or general maintenance once a month or so. For most users this would be in addition to real-time protection of course. My point being there is really not much need to pay $$ for security software these days (which in my experience people still get all the common malware despite them forking out for full security suites).

Lots of people simply installing anything they get, basically (and getting all sorts of malware despite this). So a bit of basic care never goes astray too.

However some software installation require you to remove the existing one(s).

        Yep, this can be annoying.

  • LOL, ozbargained anything in the world.
    It works in both methods:
    1. Add US address while checking out with Paypal.
    2. Use VPN to US server and registered it with US address. Use my American Express card from Australia to purchase.

This came at perfect time as my pc was wrecked by viruses. I have reinstall the OS and was toying with the free version of Bitdefender. I have found it uses little resources and the product seems to be mature.

    • +1

How long did it take after ordering before you received the key?

  • Thanks, great buy ;-)

  • So how to I register the software? Am I supposed to receive an email with a license key?

EDIT: Sorry, the email had already come through.

  • This is the best offer for Bitdefender for a long time. A great Virus scanner, I would say the best I have used.

Bought it, after so many unsuccessful attempt with PayPal :)

    Thank you OP!

  • It seems BD recognizes subscription time remaining based on code you entered instead of account. What happens if you combined codes and then had to reinstall?

For example I used code1 which gave me 365 days. I used up 20, then had to reinstall windows and BD. I reentered the same code as my license and was left with 345 days. If I then combine it with code2 which is worth 365 days, I now have 710 days. But since these codes are not entered into an account but directly into BD's client, where does it keep track of how much time remaining I have on this PC?

If I were to reinstall BD this very same day, if I enter code1 will I have 345 days again, or will I have 710? What would I have to enter as my code to get BD to recognize I still have 710 days?

I would feel much better if the codes were entered on their website into an account you create, and BD logs into your account and you never enter the key directly into BD, but simply give them your account and password.

  • Thanks a lot OP, my kaspersky subscription is due in a month time, and just bought a new Asus T100TA. So this is a really good deal for me. I can report back that the bitdefender is not slowing down my T100TA boot up time, it's all good. Thx again OP.

  • I've installed it successfully on one computer, however on my other the installation freezes consistently at 67%. Anyone else with the same problem?

  • Made the purchase successfully via AMEX and VPN (not sure if VPN is required). Have not received the code yet though I expect it to be here in a few minutes.

Boy was it a scary process though. Kept worrying something would go wrong, they take my payment but reject the order and then won't refund it due to their digital software refund policy.

    • It took longer for the code to come but it did, compareinf to PayPal.

    • +1

such is the life we have chosen as ozbarginers… :P

  • Don't like bitdefender.
Have used a free copy of it before, and I uninstalled it.
Free (or cheap) does not always mean it's good (or a bargain).

    • The free version is fine, but very limited options (ie. None). The full version is topping AV charts across the board all over the place.

  • I really don't need this due to having purchased the previous deal but I got it anyway. Figured I might give it to a friend or use it at work or something.

  • I just ordered, and how long I have to wait to receive the key in my email?

    • It's been about 20 minutes for me and no code. Kind of getting worried here.

Let me know when you get yours. It's been over 30 mins for me now, no code. It must be done manually or something.

      • hey dude
Same here. Been 1+ hr. Order page says 'order is being verified'
Might get a cancellation but what the hey .. did what I could, if they denied eh it was worth a shot.

        • Been 4 hours now… Tell me they aren't going to check with the hotel to see if I'm really staying at the suite I claimed I was…

      • I went to outside, when return home I found a key in my email…I think approximately two hours time frame.

  • +2

    Did not work for me.

    Attempt #1:
    * Added a US address in Paypal account (on another page) then went to newegg checkout

    Attempt #2:
    * Added US address during newegg checkout

    Both did not work :(

NewEgg displays this error message and will not allow me to complete checkout:

The shipping address information we received from PayPal indicated that your address status is "unconfirmed". Unfortunately, Newegg only ships to confirmed PayPal addresses at this time. If you would like to use PayPal for this purchase, you will need to update your PayPal shipping information to a confirmed address.

    Attempt #3:
    Using my V.Me account
    * Added a US address to V.Me account
    * I was able to go through checkout and make payment
    * I get an email saying the payment has not gone through:

Thank you for shopping at Newegg!

Your order (Sales Order Number: xxxxxxxxx) cannot be processed at this time. We could not verify the address that is on file with your card-issuing bank. All orders must have a verifiable U.S. billing address and issued by a U.S. bank.

How are other people getting this to work?

    • Same issues.

    • +1

As others have said add US address to your newegg account. Then pay via paypal but only add the US address when you actually checkout with paypal (don't do it before). Worked for me.

      • YAY!! It worked for me.

I needed to first set the same US address in my newegg account and then also update my V.Me account to have the US address as the address against my credit card.

        Then the verification was successful.
And now I have received confirmation with my Software key!!

        Cheers all!

  • I'm having a different problem, I get through paypal ok, but I get to the newegg screen to confirm payment and it shows $39.95 at what point to you use the promo code EMCPWGP96 ?

Nevermind, missed the promo code section ;-(

  • Odd, I placed my order ok, but I got an email saying the order was cancelled because I exceeded the quantity limit, but I only ordered 1 copy???? strange.

    • Change your us address

  • Thanks… Worked like a charm for me.
1)Used Paypal shipping address that I had onfile
2)When it came to create an Newegg account I used a fake US address
3)Waited and eventually got emailed the download link and the activation code.
4)needed to create a Bitdefender account before the 2 years would show up in the software

    Hope this helps!

    addict

  • +1

The only feature that I use for this software is antivirus. The firewall etc.. is inferior to other products and so I have turn all of them off except antivirus.

  • Using V.me works perfectly - even with a recently entered address!

  • Thanks op. just received mine.

  • Cheers OP, whole process took 14 minutes from entering my new luxury US home's address, to receiving the confirmation email with the key.

Haven't ever paid for a security suite before… bit of a shock for an Ozbargainer… the savings made it excusable though!

  • Works great, put my sister address :)

  • Great deal, works perfectly if you follow the instructions on how to add the US address.
    Thanks.

  • Done - thanks OP - building a new pc this weekend so the timing is terrific.

Anyone know if this suite is fairly light on its use of system resources?

    Hopefully not bloatware like Norton!

    • It's pretty light, Norton is also light in the latest edition if NIS.

  • How did you guys get your codes sent so quick? For those who got it quick, did you pay via AMEX or Paypal? Did you guys use some hotel address or a real address?

I'm stuck in order verification. Paid via AMEX. It's been almost 12 hours now.

This is the snag I may have hit, as quoted in the order confirmation page:

Your order should be processed and ready to be shipped within 1-2 business days. In some cases, we will also contact your bank for further verification. To prevent delays, please ensure that your billing address and phone number match with the information your card issuer has on file; Newegg takes these measures to protect our customers from debit/credit card fraud and identity theft.

They really don't want our money if we're not in their country.

    • UPDATE: Got my code 16 hours later. Must be done manually. I would recommend paying via Paypal over AMEX.

  • Just wanted to share that I added a real US address to Paypal during checkout. That was the only thing I changed.

Email confirmation of the purchase came in about 3 minutes later.

Email of the product key came in a moment after that. (Buried under a deluge of Newegg welcome emails and newletters…. Damn, I forgot to uncheck that box.)

Good luck to anyone else trying to get in on this deal.

    • Thank you for sharing the deal.

I couldn't find on Newegg where to add a U.S. address and did the same in Paypal and just put the address for the soup shop I checked out when I went to Chicago last. It went through. =D

  • Please can someone take me through the difference between the Internet Security and the Total Security

    I already have internet security

  • Got 2! Thanks OP

  • So where's my key?
I put the order through 24 hours ago, it still says 'verification' in the my NewEgg account but no key?

    • That's strange, I got mine wihtin a few minutes

      • Depends how you pay. If it's Paypal it's automated.

If it's by AMEX, someone has to verify it and manually send you the code.

  • just tried to get it and it looks like the deal is over.
