Samsung Galaxy S5 Black or White $806 @ Officeworks

90

Am in the market for a new phone, noticed that Officeworks have dropped the price of the Galaxy S5 from $888 to $806, seems to be the best local stock, bricks and mortar price available at the moment.

would have thought they would have to give you the 5% on top of (in addition to) dse's pricing of $806.40 as it's currently sitting at $888 on the website. that's how it worked with the $50 ipad deal dse had and that they matched!

    • Didn't see that on DSE site (see it now, need to add it to your cart, discount applied at checkout), that would bring the matched price down to $766.08.

      Going to try that tonight!!!

      • you cant price match it again because officework's price is the same with dicksmith now. i guess there are few lucky/smart people did it this afternoon therefore officeworks had to reduce their price too

  • The price on the website still says $888..

    • Oops disregard my comment on the DSE website it only showed discount when added to cart, this appears to just be a price match which I thought was against ozbargain rules

Personally think its a little too early to jump in. The price is still at early-adopter (sucker price) levels.
    Maybe wait for EOFY sales.

    • Don't know if s5 will be in the eofy sales.usually it's the old stuff/ things going out of fashion that gets discounted cause it saves them counting them.

    • The S4 is still hovering around the $648 mark (retail store), so it won't go down much more than the $750-$800 until after S4 is in runout, by which time the s6 will come out. Sucker price would be buying it from Harvey Norman at $894…full tilt retail

  • Link still shows $888?

    • on mobile, but on full website version it will show 806. 40 cents cheaper than dse

  • Anyone know if the Officeworks white S5 stock is made in Vietnam or Korea?

I rang one of the stores, but they said it does not say where the phone is made on the box.

Thanks for this. Just went into Officeworks and picked it up for $763 after the 5% discount. In answer to luztra, the sticked inside the phone says it is made in Vietnam.

    • What is the difference between it being made in Vietnam or Korea? Any differences or better quality?

I got 2 S4 from Officeworks and BigW. Both are made in Vietnam. I am Vietnamese, but I am not keen on having techno devices made in VN! The edges of the S4 phones we have are not very smooth, they are rather pumpy/wavy.

In contrast, my S3 was bought online and was made in Korea, I am not sure about the quality, but I have the gut feeling that it was more workmanship than my S4s.

I believe that if you preorder Samsung phones online prior to its release dade, you have a great chance of getting the stock from the first shipment and it would likely be made in Korea.

    • How you get furher 5% discount ?

    • Ah, thanks.

I bought one from Officeworks in Jandakot but didn't open it as yet. I am thinking of returning it and trying my luck on the DSE model as it appears they are Korean made (which is what I am after).

Or I may just got for the M8.

  • specs do not show the frequency supported does it have 700mhz??

Thanks OP and the comments. I'm going to go to RAC and get wish gift cards which gives me an extra 5%. Will then purchase it online and Dicksmith $806.40 x 0.95 = $766.08.

Entertainment Book and RAC don't do Coles group giftcards :( Otherwise I could have got the phone straight away at Office works
