Travel dates for most deals are Feb/March 2015 … bit far ahead for me to book/plan anything. :(

    • And right when school starts.

  • I guess they are planning to add some more sale fares? The number of seats listed as available for each deal is only 2060 in total…

    • Similar comment to last year's sale
      10,000 seats??? 600 seats + 500 seats + 700 seats + 600 seats + 900 seats = 3300 seats ONLY Where's the other 6,700 seats?? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106857#comment-1447848

      More to come.

      • If you click on the email link to sale, the total sale tickets is about 10,000 as shown on the JQ flight search page.

    These are the travel dates:

    Melbourne (Avalon) – Sydney: 3 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Adelaide – Melbourne (Tullamarine): 3 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Brisbane – Melbourne (Tullamarine): 3 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Melbourne (Tullamarine) – Perth: 3 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Darwin – Bali (Denpasar): 3 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Melbourne (Tullamarine) – Bali (Denpasar): 3 Feb – 24 Mar 2015

    Sydney – Bali (Denpasar): 11 Feb – 25 Mar 2015

    Sydney – Christchurch: 3 Feb – 24 Mar 2015

  • One way only as well…

  • +1

All midnight horror flights too for the domestic routes. If thats what they classify as "evening flights"

  • Would have been good if it was something similar to tigers vouchers so we can pick dates later

  • Damn was thinking could get cheap flights to go to Socceroos vs SA at ANZ stadium, 2015 is way too far away

  • Melbourne flights would be good if heading to the Formula 1 in March next year….. assuming it's about the same dates as previous years. Shame the Sydney one ends up at Avalon (I always fly to Tulla).

    • Was thinking the same, but as the 2015 F1 schedule is not yet finalised it is a bit of a guessing game.

      • At $10 it's not a bad bet though! :)

  • +1

    Last year's $10 Sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106857

There were more destinations available than those originally listed. I flew BNE-SYD $10 each way, bought just after sale had ended.

Had similar experience as many - crashed at payment screen. Available flights appeared & disappeared during sale, but my preferred dates & times reappeared after sale had ended.

    • If you add up the number of seats advertised on the link - it's only just over 2000 so I think you're right if it is actually 10,000 seats on discount.

    • Same here. Except my experience was very smooth. This year I can go to Melbourne for $20!

    • +6

they are a discounted price. so yes, in other terms, that is a sale lol.

Just because the dates don't call into your desired dates, doesn't mean its not a good deal. Though they don't work with my schedule as well (being i don't plan things well ahead), just be grateful they are offering such deals

      • /grateful

        Now where's my brownie points…

        • lol… on a jetstar flight

      • -8

        Grateful?
The problem is that these are not 'deals' as such.
These are cheap ways of promoting brand loyalty and to be frank, filling up empty seats.
I would be grateful when they promote genuine sales and bargains.

        • +4

They are not 'deals' for you because they don't suit your requirements. They don't suit mine either but its a great DEAL for those who can fly on those dates.

        • they are not to fill up empty seats. pretty sure these specific flights have been setup for this deal. There would be so much drama if it were simply to 'fill up seats' with 1 guy paying a standard rate to fly to sydney, and the bloke next to him paying with poo change to fly.

        • exactly

        • 'fill up seats' is usual strategy with Jetstar sales.
From many experiences, people sitting next to each other may all have paid different fares. I paid $10 to Sydney last year next to a businessman who paid hundreds. Some Jetstar flights are code shared with Qantas and other operators. On a Japan flight, people behind paid $1200 return, I paid $400 & row in front was FREE flights!

        • -1

mate, do you work for Jetstar or somethin?
          Cos i don't innit.

    • +1

How dare they offer cheaper seats in non-peak times :p

  • +1

i wonder if they will follow with a 2 for 1 deal

    • +1

It's not like I wanted to use the Jetstar website today or anything.

  • +2

It IS worth while letting people know that the day you can fly are generally limited to Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday evening flights.. which counts out that sneaky weekend away leaving Friday night and coming back sunday evening for the 9to5ers..

  • still waiting for the 2 for 1 deal to bali

    Sorry!
    Thanks for your search.
We're experiencing very high levels of demand on our web site at the moment.
Please come back in 60 seconds and try your search again.
Alternatively, please try again in about 5 minutes.

    pffft.

edit: negged for 20mins of constant website failure. waste of my time.

    • I got through and bought 6 tickets. If your too slow I don't think thats worth a neg. Try AirAsia and then tell me about website failure….

      • I wouldn't blame it on the poster being "too slow" as that's not necessarily true, and I think website failure is worth a neg, it wastes everyone's time… who cares if Air Asia is also crap?

        • +1

          ok, neg revoked.

          persisted on website.

got thru to a flight selection page about 2.30pm
spent 5 mins adjusting dates to get $10 flights
finally confirmed and paid thru poli at 2.57pm

(by the way, @Jip, I've done plenty of AirAsia 3am-ers and the like and it's never been as bad as this was)

        • +2

Well I had a very different experience, but I just wanted to have a go (with alittle patience) and see what happens. @battler if you've gotten up at 3am for Air Aisa, fighting sleep deprivation and the servers against all of SE Asia, then I am surprised you had a worse experience at 2pm here (and all's well that ends well aye).

And yes ideally the site should cope with the extra loading - no defender of it. But as I see it the neg is a question of whether it is a bargain and there are nominally thousands of happy people right now… and it appears, thousands of frustrated people aswell.

          edit: addressed wrong person!

        • +2

In a small town in China, I was surprised that every internet PC was in use after midnight. Everyone was trying to book AirAsia sale flights. You could pay a local to sit for hours to get the deal.

Maybe we should outsource our OzBargaining ;-)

  • site crashed…..

  • website is currently getting some heavy poundings lol

  • Checked 5 destinations out of Melb for all dates. Can't find any advertised fare…

    • +1

Only available via deal link not sales page & may already be sold out given low number of seats per destination.

    • Got some Mel to Bali $150 fares towards the end of the period travel period. $1090 total for 2 adults 2 kids, $1321 including baggage for 2 people.

But financial controller says no. :(

    • Managed to book MEL-GC and BNE-MEL for $40.

  • The dates are about 9 months ahead. So hard to plan trips like that.

  • Bah! Only those 8 routes offered - mainly to/from Melbourne. Not interested. Hopefully some other destinations in coming weeks.

  • -1

    What are the return prices?

  • Can't booked..server crashed.

    • -2

That's funny. You thought it was a good enough deal to warrant trying for tickets but punish the OP (via a neg) for something s/he is not responsible for?

      Seems legit…

      • +3

OzBargain is not reddit, votes are not accumulated. You vote on a deal, not the user.

        • -1

          Come on, that's just semantics.

My point still stands. It was a deal because they tried to get it. As soon as they didn't get the deal then that means it wasn't a good deal anymore?

  • nothing form melb to syndey
    checked all dates

  • +1

Stuck on seat selection page. Clicked 'Skip Seat Selection' but has now been stuck there for 5 mins.
PS - dont have 2 windows open at once…. it stuffs everything up.

    • same…..

    • +1

Dammit! Made it all the way to the payment page then clicked 'Purchase'…. waited 10 seconds then it came up wtih an error saying that 'the flights are no longer available'. Damn it!

      • +1

yep garbage… wasted my time too.

      • +2

Tip: At last year's $10 Sale, that came up often. But as others were also booted off the overloaded system, those same fares reappeared. As people give up it makes it easier for others to get the deal ;-)

        • :) good work…. cbf after a while.. hehe

  • Sorry!

    Thanks for your search.

    • -1

$10 flights - can only find Wednesday flights, no weekend trip :(

  • +1

You might score a bargain, but it'll be an annoying experience in the process.

  • finally got two seats for melb to sydney, but wow, that process took 25 minutes

  • ADl - Mel flights (and returns are on Tuesday or Weds only…great deal if you want to spend one night in either city mid week!

  • +2

Was only able to score a few BNE to MEL one way - oddly didnt see $20 tickets for the return leg. Fingers crossed the FIA keeps to their provisional schedule - cheap tickets for the F1 Grand Prix!

  • -1

Bah flights MEL-DPS during Labour long weekend are not cheap! One way is $ 359! How can they say it's a sale?

  • +1

Give-up.. Wasted 20mins to find the adv. price, and realized u only get the price though OP's link

  • got it! thanks!!!

  • Why I can only see $39 Sydney to Melbourne? Where's the $10 fare?

    • +2

You have to look through Jetstar's eyes

  • +3

Rubbish site. I went to the on-sale website at 1.59pm and skipped as fast as I can to go through the slow loading process until the confirmation of payment section by 2.30pm. Finally it rejected, saying no time slots. Sigh…

  • +2

Only available via deal link not sales page

  • +1

Every time I found a $50 MEL to PER fare the site timed out, and then wasn't available after restarting the process

  • unreliable jetstar site as always!

  • It's a bargain, thanks op.

  • +4

I'll tell you what, I hope a mod comes in here and tidies up the negs.

This bitching from 2 year olds about a slow website, and then thinking it seems fair to neg the deal because of it, is getting pretty bloody old.

    • Ah, the impatient Neggers are just making way for the true OzBargainers to get the deals ;-)

I think those complaints are recycled from previous Jetstar deals.

  • +2

    Damn slow, wasted time

  • server down …booo !!!

  • +1

Waste of time - very poor customer experience. I managed to get some seats on sale to Perth and going through the whole process. On the payment page I entered my details and the seats were no longer available.

  • +1

For all the Westerners, all Perth flights to Melb and Syd are now showing sold out. Still a couple left for Adelaide if thats your thing.

  • +3

Don't know why people still bother with this crap. Server down as usual.

  • With a lot of patience managed MEL-SIN. Took almost 2 hours. Now need to book the cheap Etihad flights Europe.

  • managed to grab MEL to SYD for $10, the site was down for a bit but after a while it worked but was very slow. Lucky it didn't crash while I was booking and paying!

  • +2

Got ADL to PER return for $60 each. $120 for a two week holiday next year to see family isn't bad.

Paid by Direct Deposit to avoid $37 Credit card fee. Ouch.

In comparison I paid $420 just for my brother to come over from PER this year. With Jetstar too, so they kind of owe me this deal.

  • Managed to get Adelaide to Tokyo (via Cairns) return for $656 (no checked baggage, no meals, no seat selection, no carbon offset, no donation, no SMS notification…).
Probably took 2hrs+ to make the booking, but hey, I'm happy.

    • That is such an odd route

      • Why?

      • +1

I'm not sure if you're trying to goad a response, but…

Adelaide has NO direct flights to Japan, so we always have to fly via a domestic hub (eg Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast) or via an international hub (eg when flying on Singapore, Malaysian, Cathay).
Flying via ADL to NRT via Cairns is about 13 hours (airport to airport). This is a fair bit less than most other routes.

        • Fair enough mate
Just first time I had heard of it
          Thanks

  • +1

    Awesome post EC.

Easily just purchased 2 one way fares Adelaide to Melbourne for $20 (drive there with friends for a wedding, fly back).

Not sure why people are negging if they're missing out on seats.

    • Not sure why some negged you tbh

      • No idea food.

  • +2

Managed to get return tickets from Perth to Adelaide for the Feb 14th weekend for 60$ each. India Vs Pakistan World cup match here I come. Thank you easternculture !

    • +1

Hope Adelaide will treat you will, you'll love the Adelaide Oval!

    • +2

Good job mate. Was trying to score some cheap flights from Melbourne to get to Adelaide on Saturday 14th Feb and return on Monday 16th Feb but no luck with this sale. Bought the $49 tickets from Adelaide to Melbourne on 16th. Will have to keep an eye out for deals to get to Adelaide on 14th from Melbourne.

  • +3

I managed to get PER-ADL return for $63.12 inc carbon offset. I loaded the site concurrently on two browsers: Interesting to note that Internet Explorer constantly gave me the "site busy" message, while Chrome was very slow in loading but never gave me the error.

My biggest issue with the whole process was the number of tricks and traps on the Jetstar website (hire car? seat selection? travel insurance? hotel?) that, in normal website traffic conditions, are an annoyance, an attempt by the airline to increase the cost of your booking. In this type of hysterical web congestion, it was just bloody ridiculous to have all those steps to click through, each of which you needed to wait for while it loaded. If you have to have them, put them all on one page rather than making each page load separately for each and every step!

  • +1

    Awesome deal!
for 'those' who actually got their mice on it.
    cough no one.

  • I spend almost 30min from the time the fare started and finally I found the fare..

Travelling to Syd to Bali on 11th Feb & Return 18th. Filled out all the passenger details, Selected extra baggage, Selected my seats and last think happen, payment failure. Total was $1230 and every page was taking like 5-7 minutes at a time. POLI or Net bank was not taking the payment.

I called up the customer care & explain whole situation but they are rude and unprofessional.

I said if your website is not taking payment, what can I do from my end. I tried my level best to pay you but you had glitch. You should fix your website error and provide me the same fare. Nothing works with JETSTAR.

I am taking this to department of fair & trading for misleading customer and false advertisement. I have screen shot of the glitch. Spent my most afternoon but outcome was negative. These people are very dishonest and rude.

  • Out of curiosity, how much was Melbourne to Japan and what was the dates?
