    Cheaper than the kickstarter one

  • +22
    • Only disadvantage is that it comes in Black only from what I can see.
An advantage is that it appears that the case has a hole that you could slip onto a keyring.

    • +12

the decision whether to save $0.31 or not has never been this hard..

      • +12

Dude that's a cone! There shouldn't even be a decision.

        • +14

Even growing your own you'd be hard pressed to make a cone for only $0.31

        • +1

Not sure what cone you're talking about. I'm thinking Hungry Jacks Cone

        • +10

he's talking about what happens before which makes you want a Hungry Jacks Cone

    • This one should be the deal.

    • This one is a Xiaomi 'fake'

    • +1

I would prefer to go with xiaomi for 30c or so extra as their brand is better known.

    • 10 for $10 w/ free shipping on Aliexpress (no cable holder though)

    • I get the feeling that whether you order from the OP's link or this cheaper one, you'll be getting the same thing (minus the colour choice), that being the Klick. (Maybe not even, maybe this is a clone of the clone of the clone of the..)

I believe the Xiaomi is actually called a MiKey, not MiKlick, and it has different software..

Original product is apparently called Pressy http://get.pressybutton.com/ and it comes with a keyring enabling you to stow away the button thingy.

    • +4

These cheap ones have a clip thing as well, to store it while you have the earbuds plugged in.
Pressy is still Preorder and will be $27 , have they missed the boat?

      • +9

        They missed the boat building.

    • +2

if anyone wonders why it is genuine Xiaomi. http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/02/xiaomi-pressy-clone/

    • +4

The Klick was on the chinese crowd funding site demohour.com http://www.demohour.com/projects/336815 several months before Pressy appeared on kickstarter.

      • +1

And the Klick is what people above are saying is a Xiaomi Clone…
So apparently, the Klick is a clone of the clone of the Kickstarter project that started after the Klick?

        • lol I only heard about any of them a few weeks ago, had a bit of a look into them they look interesting, just don't know if I would really use it much.
As for who cloned who I would have no idea, pressy did release a statement saying they are looking into the other ones, will be interesting to see if they do anything.

    • +2

Still waiting on my pressy… they are taking their time

      • +2

me too. annoying to see alternate options pop up at almost negligible prices. :/

      • far out, me too! only kickstarter i've ever backed and it's vapourware as fas as I'm concerned

  • -6

so this is kind of like a poor man's NFC? i've played around with apps that trigger an event if you shake your phone or turn it up or down etc, so i'm wondering what advantage this has, apart from keeping dust out of the earphone socket of course!

    • +3

It basically adds an extra button to your phone.

    • +7

I particularly like the idea of using it to take a picture, whenever I press the on screen button to shutter it moves the phone and everything gets blurry.

      • +4

Don't know what kind of phone you have but on some phones you can use the volume rocker as a shutter button, worth the 10 seconds to give it a go.

        • +1

If your phone camera app doesn't do it, the stock Google Camera which you can get from the Play Store has that feature iirc

        • Just tried it, didn't work :(
          (Android 4.2 China HTC knockoff)

I just ordered a couple of these (both types) because no doubt I will lose one. Hopefully one will work with my phone (time to upgrade anyway). Annoyingly even using express PayPal to checkout TinyDeal makes an account for you.

Google Camera is Android 4.4+ only?

          (currently using CameraZoom FX)

        • I use camera FV-5. It's unfortunately a paid app @ $3.75, but it's a camera without any cheese filters (who uses those?) and with more advanced settings for manual controls.

        • You can customise what the buttons do in CameraZoom FX, with any luck if you set up the right button to get it to work with this thing.

  • +5

    come with dedsec hacks?

    • +2

      _UNDERST0od.

      • _ctOS online

        Keyword: "dedsec"
        Initiate _ctOS location scan.

        _tracing .. .. .. …

  • +1

Does this enable the same functionality that is found in the game 'Watch Dogs'?

    • +13

Your comment is like a friends episode. The joke was already told in the previous post, but you are explaining it for the masses.

  • tried the app, it is very basic. Not much customisation compared to Pressy. But good price.

    • Can it still execute any app? Or is the limitation like the double click/long clicks and stuff

      • if i remember correctly you can. I like to customise everything, maybe different from you. Best is to try the app yourself with the button on your headphones

    • +4

This app has access to these permissions:
      GPS, Read Phone status etc..
Not liking the access this thing will have to my private information.
The app itself is in Chinese and who knows where your info goes.

      • +2

Same,no way I'm installing that. Use the pressy app instead.

        • do you have a link for the pressy app? I am not able to find it

        • +1

I don't think its released yet?

edit: and may cost money if you didn't order an official pressy device

        • Correct, I'm awaiting the much delayed (and overpriced it seems) pressy. They stated in on of their updates that Pressy would come with a code to download their official app.

        • Thats not the official one, and is pretty poorly rated.

      • +2

sounds normal, the app needs to control certain things - you might use it to turn the GPS on for eg.
Phone staus would be so it knows if you are on a call etc.

      • +2

"The app itself is in Chinese and who knows where your info goes"
        China?

      • Yeah, of course it does, you're going to need all those permissions to allow the button clicks to operate those functions.
No use telling the App that one Press = Call the Wife when the App doesn't have permissions to make calls!
Guaranteed the Pressy App (when released) will have the same broad list of actions.

  • "Genuine" Xiaomi product?, not that it really matters I guess..

    Thanks OP.

Came close to backing the Kickstarter one last year. Happy to risk $2.12 to see how this one holds up.

  • +3

Finally a quick and easy way to turn on the torch without unlocking the phone. Cant believe the origional (pressy) is $27!

    • +2

What a good idea! Miss the days Nokia phones had a dedicated torch button.

    • +1

can it turn the torch off as well with another click?

    • +2

a customised android rom might be able to do this for you. does for me on my note3.

simply press the volume key up for 1/2 second and the torch is on instantly from standby

NOTE: having said all the above, a custom rom is not for everyone due to complexity, technical & warranty issues etc

  • Can't go wrong for $2. Bought it.

  • Thanks OP. No room left for any lockscreen widgets..this'll do.

  • yeah cant go wrong really ….i bought 2

  • well if it doesn't work then it cant be infringing patents..

  • Compatible with Nexus 5?

    • +7

Dunno. I bought it so I'll let you know in 6-8 weeks LOL

    • +4

      I've made a ~$2 bet it is.

    • +2

Should be compatible with any Android that can run the App.
Download the Klick app from the Play Store to check.

  • Grabbed a couple.. See how they go

  • Literally just what I wanted. Thanks OP!

    • Literally

  • don't forget to check if you have any points you're able to redeem. i had 1.51 and managed to knock off an extra 16c :)

  • This is an awesome idea. Just wondering if it'll work with the screen locked? Would also be neat if it can/will be integrated to work with Tasker.

    • From what I've read, this is essentially mimicking the "Play/Pause" button on your phones headset. So technically can be used in Tasker, but I don't believe there'd be any way to diferentiate it from a real headset.

I think once you plug in the device, you could run a task to change a Tasker variable (e.g. %QuickButton% = '1') to manually let Tasker know if it's a real headset or not.

    • I got the same email. Sigh…

      • argh!

mine's still processing. hope they don't cancel my order too. what time did you guys order? mine was 5/31/2014 4:31:12 PM..

        • I ordered on the 29th. And they didn't cancel it, they just said we will have to wait for it unless we want a refund.

        • 9:24pm 29th. But same as George (canstanzya)!

        • 30th for me, otherwise same boat!

          Darnit.

        • And they didn't cancel it, they just said we will have to wait for it unless we want a refund.

i'm just a bit paranoid about order cancellations of late….i can wait! ;)

        • Then order the other one then. It's even cheaper.
