  • Thanks OP.
    Bought 2.

  • They charged me one dollar extra. I paid with a card.
I guess just for authentication and it would be refunded?

    • You obviously haven't read the warning on previous GB deals - if you don't unselect INSURANCE (after clicking on PayPal express payment), you will be charged an extra $1. Contacted GB immediately, told them to cancel insurance & refund $1. Took many emails & 42 days but got my $1 back!

You can avoid the automatic $1 INSURANCE fee by not using the express PayPal payment. Safest to setup account first.

      • +1

Nope, insurance was unselected. It was just for card verification, transaction is gone now in the account.
I do have paypal, but couldnt be bothered updating the card for this deal. I use paypal exclusevelu for Air Asia flights for which I use a certain card to get travel insurance. Dont use it for other things.

A word to the wise: cheap dry bags should only be used for things that you can afford to get a little wet. I've used my fair share of cheap&nasties as a sea kayaker and snow camper and have had more than a few busted seams and leaky seals.

Unfortunately, you do get what you paid for. This is still a fantastic deal if you're looking for something like what I've used cheap drybags from Thailand for (to keep clothes and other non-electronic items, as a second line of defence inside a larger dry bag more likely to survive a solid dunking, or as a dirty clothes bag to keep wet items out of the rest of your dry gear).

Thanks for the heads up OP.

    • Good advice, that I follow.

I have 2 of these Chinese Campwoods dry bags. Ordered another 2.

At first I was wary of using - given that these are so much cheaper & thinner than known brands in outdoor stores. Have put them through tests underwater. Am happy using - BUT only for light use.

Have used for 2 years, but not for extreme travel. I keep electronics, passport, etc in my 5m rated underwater bag, warm clothes/ sleeping bag in thicker walled bags, leaving the rest for these bags.

Good for less extreme conditions as material is very thin, so could be damaged by sharp objects (tent pegs, rocks).

I would not trust these on multi-day water expeditions, as bags are usually stowed roughly, and landed in a similar manner - you don't want tears or abrasions of the material. Light weight bags are not so important in a water craft. Divers dry bags or bags designed for use with watercraft are worth the extra expense. Besides 8L is small - I use 20L for that purpose.

Folds to size of matchbox, light at 28g, so handy to keep in daypack in case of rain. I use them for that purpose everyday. Handy to sort your gear in pack/ larger dry bag, as are small & brightly coloured. But best to replace after a while as waterproofing will fail with wear.

Other uses: water carrier; food storage - avoids spills, smells & keeps most insects out; bag to carry shampoo etc in pack; dustproof bag; etc

Just thought you should know they have updated the Main Features:

    • Floats safty if dropped into the water and water resistance design.
    • Durable materials for enough usage.
    • Quick release buckle design, high frequency welded seams.
    • Protects valuables from dirt, sand, dust and water; Durable, wipe clean and easy to store away.
    • When not use this bag, folds flat and can be rolled or folded.
  • A few of these look ideal for up upcoming trip to Africa, thanks op.

Have placed three orders so fat on GearBest but n ot one has been sent. They cancel the entire order if one item is unavailable. All orders cancelled due to the "Special" being out of stock.

    • i really can't work out why they have become popular on ozbargain. they domain was registered ~6 months ago and from what i gather lots of people have not received previous orders.

  • +2

I still have not got the bluetooth shower speaker delivered from previous deal:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141142

    • check with them if you haven't got it yet
I got mine after 4 weeks, and it came on the same day as my cree flashlights

Gear worst probably floats their products over to Australia in these bags using the ocean currents judging by the delivery times.

    • Ordered 4 cheapie items from them. Took about 3-4 weeks but Got all 4 of them.

    • Me neither. Sent an email to customer service and was told speaker was back ordered, shipping would talk 7-25 business days. Has been longer than that! Will never order from them again.

  • Thanks OP. But I tried to checkout with paypal and got error message

    • Ok. Paypal working now. Ordered 2

  • These are bloody cheap! Kathmandu charge there from $20-$60, don't know the quality of these. But $2.50 wouldn't hurt trying

  • Was going to order. But saw all those posts about slow/no delivery of items. Not worth the hassle. Thanks OzB community you just saved me US$2.49 + stress + hassle

  • -1

Will use these on my next Malaysia Air flight, thanks OP!

  • Ordered four items from Gearbest recently.

All arrived within a reasonable time, all excellent quality for the price.

Very pleased with the key chain emergency window smasher and belt cutter.

Carry it on my keyring, have tested it and it works very well. Great cheap totally useful, caring gift for the person who has everything.

All you do is press it against a window several times and the glass cracks or shatters and falls away easily.

You never know when you may be in a bus or car accident, or a fire or other emergency and need a fast way out.

Would definitely shop with them again and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

Of course its not instant delivery, but comparable delivery times to anything
    bought from Asia on EBay.

Thanks BestGear and please keep the good deals coming.

(Not associated with GearBest in anyway other than as a happy customer).

    • You get much better mileage than me. I ordered a shower speaker on April 21. It took them 2 weeks just to arrange delivery (May 4), at which time they said it would take another 12-25 business days, but that's only an estimate and out of their control. So I'm not supposed to even follow this up yet!

I just find it interesting that with other stores I can have my product within a week or 2.

I'm not in a hurry, but I can't give them a glowing report like yours.

New email just received from gearbest

    Dear customer,

Thank you very much for your recent order re: the 8L Water Resistance Rafting Dry Bag.

This item is unfortunately out of stock and there have been significant supply issues with the manufacturer. We had originally submitted a large order to them however, despite repeated assurances, they only provided an incomplete batch which is far below the replenishment level to meet consumer demand. So far they have missed delivery deadlines three times. Due to these ongoing supplier constraints, we are unable to clear the backlog. We are as disappointed as you and feel let down by the manufacturer. We wish to apologize unreservedly for this situation.

If you want to get a refund, please reply us, and we will start processing a full refund for you. This may require several business days to process, depending on the payment method used, so we kindly ask for your patience. Once the refund has been processed and issued, please contact your payment provider for further information.

That's a shame. I just got an email that mine has been shipped out, should get it in the next month or so.

    • Got same email.
Hard to understand if they are just offering refund if you want it, or are they definitely not going to supply??

  • 24 Days after payment, get an email saying shipped. I could have swam to pick up in store by now!

    • +1

Well it is waterproof & should help you keep afloat ;-)

  • i have nt received any emails from them except for the order confirmation weeks ago.

    • Emails direct you to check message on your account - if there is any issue, it should show up there.

  • Still not arrived, just excuses. Yet another gearbest debacle.

  • Received mine today. Holy crap they smell like death! I have no idea what I am going to do with them - I think if I put them in our luggage the smell will stick to everything.

    • +1

As these are sold for use where you need them to be waterproof, it is always wise to test that claim BEFORE use! And that involves water & usually a soap applied to surface while kneading the partly inflated bag to test for air leaks, or similarly by holding under water. Otherwise how will you know until it's too late? That gives them a nice wash too.

      • Good idea.

        • I also do the same leak test on expensive dry bags. Most smell due to the coating. Wouldn't be without them when travelling - from liquids leaking in luggage, protecting gear when in small boats, to crossing mountain streams when hiking.

    • Mine also arrived yesterday. Gonna air them out for a few days, I'm sure that smell will go away

    • I got mine today and they smell like something shat itself and then died in them.

I had them delivered to work so I will let them air out in the store room for a while before I take them home.

  • Yeah they are stinky stinky!! Out to the clothesline for a good airing and see if that helps :/

    • +1

      Yes I'll try that.

I haven't even had a good look at them. I got a whiff of them and put them straight back in the post bag. If I'm brave tomorrow I'll have a look.

    • +2

I bought 2 about 1 year ago. Was a smell, but soon went. Just had a sniff - can't smell anything now. Have been good bags, that's why I bought more - especially at the price.

  • Received email mine has just shipped.

  • Order received today, missing dry bags. lodging paypal claim.

  • My order, placed considerably later than the bulk of OB discussion and interest .. was delivered today.
Very well constructed, and material has no discernable odour.

  • got the email saying it was shipped yesterday. Man that took a long tiime !

    • BangGood shipping takes an eternity normally. Given they've taken almost two months to prepare the order for dispatch, I reckon there are even odds that you could have walked/swam to the factory in less time than it will ultimately take to deliver.

  • Hi @youknow @alwayseric @greydaniel @Jared17

Could you please tell me your order number. We will check it for you.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best,
    Gearbest

  • Still waiting on mine.. Website shows them shipped on July 10th. Lodged another Ticket with GB

    • Mine was shipped 8/7 & waiting. Usually takes a month in my experience.

      • Yes - took 1 month shipping to Brisbane. Ordered 4/6 shipped 8/7 received 12/8. I've had much longer waits on some orders from China.

Received 2 bags today, turned inside out, washed in nice smelling shower gel to remove smell, & hung to dry.

Took about 2 minutes to wash & hang. Don't know why people earlier were so concerned about it.

Best to wash gear like this first, as you may want to carry food / water in it later. There may be contaminant. And ALWAYS check your bag is watertight!!

Lucky I already have 2 of the same bags, so wasn't needing theses urgently :-)

  • I haven't received mine yet, will log a ticket with them
