Guys, this is BIG!!!

Ebay is offering 15% off everything this Sunday.

The Deal Summary

  • Valid Sunday 22/6 from 10:01 until 23:59 only.
  • 60 000 coupons !!!!
  • 1 coupon per customer - (linked with paypal)
  • Available to all "active" ebay & paypal customers (not a targeted offer)
  • Max. discount $100 (achieved by buying something for $666.67 or greater)
  • Min. spend $50
  • eBay AU url only.
  • COUPON CODE: CBIGSUNDAY

Handy Hints:

  • use the good old desktop for best functionality such as add to cart multiple items
  • Multiple items works as long as in same currency
  • Item location not in Australia also works as long as it is listed on eBay AU
  • postage also attracts discount
  • Items bought before Offer started and paid for now also works (that's where all the gift cards went :)
  • check that the discount has been applied on the eBay checkout page and in PayPal just before you pay
  • why does my PayPal transaction show the full amount after the purchase? GOTO PayPal, find the transaction, Click details, you will see a 15% contribution from CBIGSUNDAY courtesy of eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. The total needs be 100% because the seller gets 100%. eBay just pays the 15% and you pay the rest.
    It should look something like this http://i.imgur.com/afbCvki.jpg (image courtesy of ezarc)
    If it doesn't show the coupon in the details then you haven't done it right. You will also see the discount details in the payment confirmation details.

BIG THANK YOU to everyone for their vote. Thank You!

The Story (speculation on my behalf)

One could assume that there is a story behind this as I have seen this on eBay in other countries recently and my assumption is that it’s an effort to drive top line sales and bring the stock price back up due to eBay's challenges in 2014:

Ebay’s stock price was recently at a 52 week low at US$48.06 and has been on a consistent decline since 2014. There are several factors that have influenced this (not in order of impact):

  1. The recent security issue/alerts;
  2. Departure of some key executives;
  3. The infighting with investor Carl Icahn;
  4. Alibaba IPO around the corner with Alibaba posing a real threat to Ebay;
  5. Amazon consistent strength and expansion (they’ll be here next year!);
    (perhaps 4&5 should have Australian retail worried too!)
  6. Google Search algorithm changes resulting in lower rankings for ebay listings;
  7. Shut down of eBay Now - same day service;
  8. Some other undisclosed events (speculation).

Either way, I’m happy to support them this weekend and I’ll be buying up on Sunday !!!

The Instructions

  1. Proceed to Ebay Checkout Page: Checkout: Review order
  2. Enter coupon code in redemption code box (bottom right) and press apply
  3. Press Continue and pay with paypal
  4. Verify in the paypal screen/system that the discount was applied before you complete your order.

Hint: If you are buying multiple items then make sure the currencies of the items are the same because you will only get one shot at this coupon.

Please let us know what you are going to buy and share your bargains below please.

Will the professionals crash the site?

If you do the math then this is a potential $6 000 000 spend from eBay!

    Reordered different gates and all went through. I checked PayPal and they charged me full price. How do I get that refunded? Thanks

    Ideas for others:
    g1wh dash cam
    playpen
    and accessories

    • all g1wh dash sellers are like china based and seem dodgy from their negs

      • yeah I didn't end up buying a g1w. I searched 'dash cam' and clicked on the first result which showed that 500 + ppl have bought and aussie seller, so I bought that one instead.

  • Thanks OP. Brought a brand new chest freezer, Beyerdynamic DT-990 pro ($180 before discount, after 15 + 2%, just a tid less than $150, slightly cheaper than the special deal going on Amazon US right now but with Aus warranty!) and a food mixer. Approx $95 discount, close to max. :D

    I bet there are more than 60,000 codes.

    • You don't need to bet, you just need to read the fine print correctly. Specifically point 8:

      There are a limited number of coupons available and once exhausted the Offer will be withdrawn. It is estimated that there are about 60,000 coupons available for redemption based on average item spend per customer. We will indicate on the website when coupons are running down in number.

      • They also said that it will start at 10.01AM (Point 2). However the code was working as of 1.00AM AEST.

        If you believe what eBay's head says you might be mistaken.

        And dont give me that bs about how they were testing the website etc. bs as if you would test a code on a live server esp one such as ebay.

        they most likely outsourced the coding to somewhere and they just made it live because they had to go home.

  • can anyone comment whether the voucher can be applied to a group buy deal…

    shipping charge is showing in Au$ 21.35, but when I paid it they charged me USD 32.83 for shipping. Is it fair?

    • Shipping says AU $34.99?

      • Sorry mate, wrongly interpret

    • It shows:

      Postage: US $32.83 (approx. AU $34.99) International Priority Shipping to Australia

  • Wife went to buy something and now has to wait for seller to send an invoice including postage.
    Wish the seller would hurry up.

    • lol had the same problem this morning - didn't realise postage wasn't calculated automatically.

      Gave up trying to wait on the $400+$70 postage item and bought something else that's around $100

      Already committed to buy the other item though, I'll still go through with it.

  • Any good ps4 deals? As dick smith has expired.

    The gift cards are back. The price is up a bit but still some saves. I bought 12 $50 ones($4.95 extra fee each) because I didn't find $100 cards in my initial listing, but after I paid through Paypal, I found one($6.95 extra fee) in their store homepage. Weird though!
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EFTPOS-Gift-Card-Gift-Box-Image-1…

    I guess some store staff is now watching closely and keeping the cards replenished.

    • +4

      wut?
      12 x $4.95 = $59 in fees to save $2.50 or 5% per card

      Is that really worth it?
      Why not just buy stuff with ING and get the 5% no hassles?

      • +1

        It's still a little better than 5% cash back, no need for paywave and I assume they can stack up on purchase over $100, plus the reward of the credit card used in the transaction.

      • Its not worth it.

        People seem to be forgetting most of these single-use disposable cards have extra fees and charges attached to them.

        They often have per-transaction or percentage charges.

        Last time I had a pre-paid VISA there was a freaking activation cost of $1.20 IIRC.

    • Can anyone verify that the credit card won't charge cash advance fee if linked to paypal for purchase of gift cards on Ebay ?
      Also, I have seen before that they can be used for cash deposit at Aust Post, can anyone confirm this ?

    • how to use this kind of card on eftpos machine? Can i redeem them online?

    • +2

      thanks, they increased the EFTPOS Gift card $100 to 107.95 each now lol, sneaky

  • Anyone have issues with checking out items with multiple currencies? ebay notified me that i'll need to checkout seperately and I'm guessing that ruins my ability to use the code for the entire cart..

  • +2

    I wasn't impelled to purchase anything on eBay, by their 15% off code alone. It was more over OZB spirit that led me to make a purchase which I didn't need. iPhone 5S costing $599.
    Savings of $100 - Thanks eBay
    Decision to Spend $599 - Thanks OZB
